Hi Julian, I love heading down there, so much to see and so much history, I’m always finding out about new places that I wonder how I missed it before. Will hopefully get to Cornwall or indeed the Hebrides at some stage, just to confirm 😬😉 thanks again. 👍🏻
Only for meeting the gent up on Stricken I still would not know about it. It was nice to get to Dún an Óir and make the connection between them both also. Thanks again. 👍🏻
This is such a great video. Thanks for making the effort to film that beautiful scenery. Back in the day I’ve cycled the peninsula and hiked many times up Brandon and thereabouts. But you’ve picked out places that it’s maybe easy to miss. The quality of your photography is spot on.
Thank you Michael 👍 As you say, many places that may be lesser well known but are great to visit nonetheless. Was delighted I managed to fit them all in on one day. Thanks again. 👍
Thank you so much 😀 The one day I didn't bring my long lens... aargh.. It was there for a few minutes and I just stopped so as not to scare it off.. was really nice to watch.
Thanks Dave. I heard there was an 8m swell on Saturday, that must have been immense to see, as long as the rain wasn’t sideways with it. I had been tempted to head down but glad I waited for the Sunday. It is stunning alright 👍🏻
@@eddieforde Saturday was mental although got a nice sunset down behind the Blasket centre , there was no beach visible on Kinard 5 hours before high tide , the wind and waves were rushing up the lane down to the beach
Thank you Eddie! I found your channel a few months ago and have enjoyed every one of your videos. We are heading back to Ireland in the summer and will visit as many of these sites as possible and hike many of the routes you have posted. Keep up the banter, we love hearing your stories.
Well done. I was there the day before when Storm Kathleen was about, it was windy but not as bad as expected. I did quite a few of the places you did, but I learned a few i didn't know.
Thanks Dave, I’d been tempted to head down Saturday but thought the forecast (for what it’s worth) looked a bit better for doing a video on the Sunday. It worked out well to be honest. 👍🏻😎
What a fantastic video with beautiful views and great information about each place. Always so awfully windy there but gives the motion and wildness to us on TH-cam! Look forward the the next one! Take care Eddie!
Thanks Andrew, it’s a pretty stunning part of the country alright. I’m lucky to be so relatively close that I can visit so often. And the wind, it is fairly constant alright, great to have it on clear days, it makes the ocean look awesome. 👍🏻
Another great video Eddie. We just got back from our first trip to Ireland. We did not spend any time in the Dingle area. Aer Lingus begins direct flights from Colorado beginning May 17. I'm already planning our next trip and this area is definitely a priority.
Thanks Mike. It’s great to have something to look forward to and plan. Hope you get a few fine weather days although I’m being told the rainy days have their own charm seemingly 🤔🤣
Thanks Adrian, far from local I’m afraid, but like many others, once the Dingle Peninsula gets its claws in you it’s hard to not keep going back. Just lucky to be relatively close. 👍🏻
Thanks Pat, there’s absolutely so much to see and do down there it’s fantastic. I already know a good few places I didn’t visit. Maybe something for a future video 😬
Thanks Pat, it was great to get a day like. Once the shower at the start passed we had a clear run at it. The wind driving in the waves only added to it. 🌊 🌬️
Great video Eddie. There is a plaque near Dunquin pier giving details of a ship of the Spanish Armada, the Santa Maria De La Rosa, which sank there in September 1588.
What a busy day you had and thank you for that. Been to all the places in the video just love them all. Heading for Dingle at the end of August can't wait. Hope your knee will get better soon so you can get up to the mountains again. ❤
Hi Pia, I would have presumed you’ve been to them all alright. You must be wondering why I didn’t carry on up the road after the chancellors house to Cathair Deargain ☹️ I didn’t know it was there until I came home. Otherwise it would have been 18 stops 😳 maybe the next video. Thanks again Pia 👍🏻😬
Eddie, you are an amazing videographer!!! We just spent a week in Dingle.....my 19 yr old daughter climbed into the low place in Cashel Murphy. I love your videos! Keep them coming. We live in the states and have a daughter studying in Dingle. Marvelous majestic place. Can't wait to visit again. Reliving all the beauty!
Wow, thank you Erin. I’m getting claustrophobic even just thinking about Cashel Murphy 🤣. Sounds like ye have a great excuse to come over and visit, hope she has a great time here. 👍🏻
Dingle is such a lovely place 😊 I had a similar day out to yours there before. I didn’t manage to get in as much as you tho 😅 I’ll have a few extra places to go next time
It most definitely is, I’m addicted to the place as you can probably tell from the amount of videos I have from there. There is so much to see, and I even had to leave a good few spots out. 👍🏻
Hi Eddie, your videos are amazing. It's clear to see you love the Dingle Peninsula. I am walking the Dingle way next week solo so I plan on really taking my time to take in as.much as I can. This video was particularly insightful and you certainly crammed quite a lot in so thank you. I am walking the traditional route, Tralee to Camp to Annascaul etc., could i bother you to find out how many of these sites are on the or close to the walking trail? Or would you recommend more sites closer to the trail that may not have been included in this video? If you'd have time to break worthy visit sites into stages or as i'd meet them on my way id be ever so grateful. I can forward an email address if that's easier for you to respond to? Regards, James.
Hi James, thanks for the nice comment. It's a beautiful place, and yea I love heading down there. I haven't walked the Dingle way myself but looking at the maps a good shot of these are either on it or close by. In this video, all bar the first two locations, are between Slea Head and Brandon. On the first section of the Dingle way itself, whether there are any "worthy" diversions is debatable. For example, Annascaul Lake is nice, would it be worth the 8km round trip to see it off the route, I wouldn't be so sure. I love the mountains, but I've never heard of anyone taking a diversion from doing the Dingle way to do one of them. If you were based in the area for a while it would be more feasible. The reasoning with this video was these are a lot of places that aren't probably worth a diversion on their own, but all together make for a busy day. For this video in particular these are ones I'd recommend, (making out what I can from the dingle way maps.) 1. It looks like you go very close to Dun an Oir, but don't actually get to it, it looks like it's only a Short diversion, and would be worth it. 2. Looks like Gallarus Oratory isn't directly on it, I think that might be worth it cause its a building that appears on all the advertising etc. 3. Cathair na bhFionnurach under Brandon is fascinating and looks like it might not be too much of a diversion. 4. The biggest one for me tho would be when going over the mountains from Fenoagh to Cloghane. It's worth taking the spur out to Sauce Creek. You can either go out and back or do the loop out to Brandon Point, but it does make a long tough day longer yet again. I've met people a few times and they weren’t aware of it, but others were, so im not sure if there are different maps or just that they find out along the way. At the bottom of the description are chapter makers with the locations. You could google map them and decide if its worth the diversions also. It's funny that having spent so much time down there, that I've never done any of it, I suppose when I can just pop in and out if it,, it's easier for me. It's a fairly well established walk by all accounts and especially in the summer I always meet people on some section of it. I hope you have a fantastic time doing it and that the weather plays ball :) Ed
Hi Eddie. I watched a lot of your videos and really enjoy them. Can you please tell me the name of the Glen near Dingle that you done a video on I can't find it.
