Beautiful machines! Years of history! I still have the Akai with radio! Had a Panasonic Automatic Reverse with metalcase and very slim and light but it had a irritating vibration since the beginning! And square batteries which were very high prized and hard to charge!
Some people are addicted to heroin, others to Walkmans.

@Sonicku Well the first iPod was made in 2001. The first walkman in this video was made in 1979. The Walkman didn't have GB memory storage. Your music was stored on the Cassette. You generally had 46, 60, and 90 minute cassettes. If you're familiar with CD's, they have an 80 minute capacity so it's like having a CD's worth of music...except cassettes don't skip when you run. Hope that helps you understand.
Amazing vintage players! I still got a few of those, but on normal days, I just use an mp3 player. I love to fill it up with songs and education audio for study. For that I use "ZillaTube". If you google it, you can find it

Thank you for bringing back the Great 1980s Nostalgia Wonderful Days of Cassette Tapes Listening . I still has 1 WHOLE BAG of cassette tapes where I record all sorts of songs also using a 42 inches SONY HI - FI which comes with an Equalizer which I bought in year 1990 twenty six years ago .

Dave with a fire axe standing on a hill of skulls Toshiba made some very interesting Walkmans as well like their slim line recorders that rotarysounds used to have them playing music years ago.

Please do a video about easy fixes everybody can do (not just electronic technicians), including lubricating moving parts and what kind of oil to use, source for parts, etc.

That's an AWESOME collection, man! I am the original owner of a 1986 Sony Walkman WM-F100 iii. It's in excellent condition and still works like the day it was purchased. I've been looking everywhere for that little black battery pack that you popped off of yours at 6:18. I, unfortunately, lost mine ages ago :( Any idea where I might be able to find one?

I used to have the metal walkman. It was a beatiful piece of machinery, and I loved the big bulky plastic clip that snapped on it. Alas, it fell off while running on the beach and had a wave go over it. From then on it sounded more like a pepper mill than a walkman.
This collection is probably worth thousands now
lucky that you have. Love walkman very year. I always listen very year cassette and was a donkey left trash that had walkman . I now have 3 sony walkman works well , one is wm 31 , is another wm - fx 251 and another is WM - FX375 , but like most is wm- 31 than wm- fx251 and WM - FX375 are year after 90. I like walkman 80s are more beautiful what you have, my congratulations collects all walkman 80 saved . I 'll buy walkman wm- 2 . They have over 150 good tapes are stored boxes and stopped another 15 years .
And I'd like to buy some more 80s walkman example wm- 10 and WM -2 and other Portugal but here there is nothing to sell. Difficult. One day this will open up and listen to my past.

Yes it's a Blue Sony WM-f107. Unfortunately it's a little greened from sun damage. It doesn't show up much on camera though.
david1988pianoman pour some hydrogen peroxide cream and put it in the sun for a few hours, the UV light bleaches the yellow caused by the sun damage.
@@Evan420 I'd be careful doing this, retrobriting makes plastic more brittle. Plastic naturally gets brittle with age but with H2O2 I've heard some horror stories... Take caution doing this

The oldest walkman I own is model WM-F2015 from 1990 that someone had written broken on. I thought when I took it home that it would be a belt or broken gear, turns out in the corner of the lid, there's a broken plastic hinge so the cover doesn't close all the way. I fixed it for now by wrapping a 50 cent elastic band around the walkman. I'm currently listening to it as I write this comment. I saw the same walkman on Ebay for about $160.00 I just about laughed myself silly.

Hi Jake. Well there are a lot of options for cassette players. Do you have a brand in mind? Aiwa's are my favorite but there are a few Sony's and JVC players are I really like too. There are options like Auto Reverse, FM Radio, AM/FM Radio, Recording, and All-Metal body. Are you looking for something really small or classic bulky?
Also, are you looking for one that works or are you going to repair it yourself? Most players today will at least need to belts. Some might even need capacitors replaced.
I really wanted something along the lines of an all metal body. I also really enjoy the classic bulk as well. Any suggestions for those? I will also check out Aiwas'!
I have a boxed and signed 1989 sony walkman given to me from Ian brown of the stone roses..Amazing collection and i hope mine will be worth something someday..
JEALOUS!!! I can only find off-brand walkmans in my area, and more modern Sonys. Only rarely can I find a walkman and even rarer to find a vintage Sony, so I look on ebay. I repair these with belts
Yes. Most of my players are from ebay and Stereo2go members. I have never found any good players in my area (interior Alaska). I did get lucky and find two sets of speakers at my local thrift store, one set of Sony SRS-50 and one set of Aiwa SC-A5. I about lost my mind when I saw those because I usually didn't find stuff like that at the store. That's great you repair them with belts. It's a great feeling when you get one of those players working again after years without use. And you quality on the older players are almost unmatched.

In the meantime have a wm-f2... it's amazing how long my alkaline batteries last so long... I've been testing and using the same batteries for 2 months.
From the first to 80s‘ machines... the origins. Cool, but for usability and features I prefer those of the 90s and 2000s...

I did not know the solar powered one came in green. Green is my favorite color too. I wish I would have know that at that time.
It's actually a blue one but because of sun damage over the years, it turned green. There is a process to restore it to the blue again but I haven't tried it yet.

whats the battery for the F1 walkman? i have one but it doesnt have that star (no it was not scratched off) but i left it on for a whole day and the next morning it was dead. mean while i havent changed the batteries for my sony sports and ive used it for the past 4 years.

Laura Kulis I have that one. Take the screws out of the sides on the back, take a screwdriver and release the 3 snaps inside the cassette loading area and just pry around the edges. Be careful, you can damage it around the edges if you pry too hard. The problem could be a belt so look up the model on ebay and find the belt on there.

it's been a while since you replied my comment, but do you know what you can do with that greened solar Walkman? make retr0bright! some hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of whitening vanish, or oxy clean, and put it on the plastic and expose it to the sun, it's very effective, but it would be better if you take out all the electronic stuff from it :)

I used to have a WM-DD and WM-DD30 but ended up selling them. At the time, I didn't want to deal with the notorious Click in those players and I was trying to downsize my collection.
