    I was wondering if you could explain more on the difference between restore settings to default and initialize eeprom. I have seen some videos where after flashing firmware they do restore defaults while others initialize eeprom. Which is correct or do you do both and in what sequence?

    Hi, Ive got a CR10 S5 and using CURA 4.5. Ive done the bed levelling but when starts printing, the nozzle seats too high above the bed when printing. I use the babystepps Z option to correct the problem because dont know what else I could do. Could you please advise me. Many thanks

    • @ruiraptor
      @ruiraptor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you need to edit the Z offset value. Look for the Z-offset and edit that value (you can use the babysteps value as reference) and don't forget to store the settings to save the changes in the eeprom.

      whatever slicing software you are using you may want to configure the print bed size and type in that specific software. the printer just does what commands are sent to it. sounds like you are sending bad g code files and your printers steps per millimeter could be off if you were playing with the settings so look into that as well good luck

    Nice video! Have you ever tried printing directly on the glass bed surface? Putting a piece of glass in a piece of glass seems redundant.

      CapnRumple the stock glass is very easy to crack when removing prints.

      Hi, good question.
      Actually, in my tevo tornado, i'm using a Filaprint print surface on a glass. Since i use my printers for tests and videos, i cannot have permanent parts but the filaprint is the best surface i have ever tested. You can attach it directly to the glass bed.

      Hi, some options on the menu might be disabled in the firmware. To enable them, you need to edit the firmware, compile it and flash the printer with the new firmware.

    What is your marlin version?

    • @ruiraptor
      @ruiraptor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sumit,
      My version is 1.1.6. It works great and it's very stable. The only thing i miss is the new linear advance algorithm.
      But you can find more recent ones for the tornado such as the 1.1.9.

      @@ruiraptor I have successfully applied my old software to another mega,
      I have a new mega with ramps and the new marlin but it did not work well!
      the Z motor does not run as it should.
      only if you do small steps 1MM and better still with 0.1MM by hand than the Z turns.
      but if you do home the Zaxis it does not work anymore
      the engine turns a little bit and then humps
      (then grumbles for the rest)
      also the limit switch does not want to work properly!
      I think that has to do with the bed leveling censor software
      I put an old version marlin on it and everything works perfectly!
      greetings from the Netherlands!
      Rob.

    WILL THE 1.1.9 MARLIN WORK ON THE ENDER 3 OR TARANTULA PRINTER?

    • @ruiraptor
      @ruiraptor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jerry,
      Yes, the 1.1.9 marlin version works with Ender 3 and tarantula.
      You just need to set it up properly. If you search the groups of each printer, you will find that version available ready to flash.

  • @broderp
    @broderp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You go thru the menus and say what each is but you do not give any context to define how each one affects a given situation nor do you explain what they do. (Aside from the obvious ones) Just saying this is xxxxx does not tell me anything. This would be the equivalent of showing you a graph and saying "this is cutoff voltage for a diode. It stops working at this point" but not explaining how that point is derived, or explaining the diode function in the complex circuit it is a part of.

      Yeah - speed adjusts the overall speed - means nothing more than I can read - but does it also change the extruder speed, ie match the flow
