Awesome. I love how Zappa doesn't take his eyes off Norman while he is playing the harmonica.

Classic TV. Most non-Australians didn't understand Gunston's routine but Frank got it 100% and seemed to enjoy it.

Bit of a sweeping statement there, friend.

Yup. Norman was an “ambush interviewer”, and Frank got the joke from the start…

Yep, did ""The Torture Never Stops", and was recorded for posterity, you can hear it on the album "FZ:OZ"...including a bit of a cringe joke from Norman about his harmonica and watermelon pips...

Bluddy funny!!!! Frank looked really surprised that Norman could actually play the harmonica really well!

Gary McDonald used to be in a band and that's where he learnt harmonica

Frank invited Norman to play harmonica on stage with the band just after this show.
Here is the spoken interaction between Frank and Norman during The Torture Never Stops:
*FZ: Ladies and gentlemen, Norman "Blind Lemon" Gunston, a little Aussie bleeder!*
*Norman Gunston: This harmonica is a bit dry, y'know. It used to belong to Stevie Wonder, you know? Course um, when I knocked the spit out a whole lotta watermelon seeds came out, you know. It's a bit dry, I just wetted it, y'know.*
*FZ: Well, blow your harmonica, son!*
*Norman Gunston: The fun hasn't beginned yet, uh, later on apparently The Mothers are gonna hand out the bingo cards and everything, you know. (It really sucks.) Thank you very much, Mother Superior. You'd think he'd try electrolysis, wouldn't you?*

Frank later invited Norm to play onstage with the band when they were in Sydney. I think Frank picked up that Norm and him had similar if not the same attitude towards music and humour and had a lot of respect for him.

Gary McDonald was quite a good harmonica player.

About half of Gunston's quips went right over Frank's head... but then, how could he ever know? Australian comedians just run rings around their American subjects... thinking of Roy & HG here too :-P And, by the way, Norm just nailed that harmonica ;-)

Norman is on a Stones video, called 'Video Rewind'...and its great...they are messing with him HARD-
Keith ducks past him backstage saying, oh no not THIS guy again-
He asks Keith why they named the album 'Some Girls'?
Keith's reply : 'We forgot all their fucking NAMES'
