OMG, I love your videos! I am a crocheteer and never had the courage to venture into kniting world, until I saw your videos! Not to mention double points! I am kniting my first sock thanks to you. So, thank you!
Hola,my name is belia,n I just wanna say that I'm a beginner knitter, and out off all things,I love to see how socks are knitted. It's something about them that I would love to learn how to do. I have seen so many videos,so many tutorials, and I really have to say,I enjoy so much watching you, I think your a wonderful teacher,,I enjoy how you teach, me been a beginner, I can completely understand everything you say. Thank you very much for your great tutorials,,I'm pretty sure that with you I'll learn how to knitt socks.
A bit late but because of you, I am finally knitting my first pair of socks and so far succeeding! If they come out correctly, I am going to get adventurous and make some in the house colors from Harry potter :)Thank you so much! God Bless!
I haven’t received my yarn in the mail yet. I’m breathing heavy I’m so excited to learn to knit socks! I’ve been searching for many years for someone to teach me and all of the videos were very confusing. BUT, your videos are AMAZING! Thank you so much!
I made the first cuff, thank you so much for this video, will be making the second cuff and hopefully have both socks completed for part 3. Most important it looks good to me, no ladders and the ribbing looks neat. I am proud of myself.
Dear Marly, just discovered your channel. I have been struggling with this for weeks, and you made it sooooo approachable and I finally have the beginning of a decent sock. Yay! Question: I can't find the Susan Bates holder anywhere. Do you know where I could find it? Thanks!!!!
Hi Marly! Thank you so much for all of the wonderful videos you post! I learned to knit along with your mom 😁 I am having a hard time finding the link to the pattern for this section of the sock. Can you help guide me to it? Thank you
Love the WIP DPN holders. I bought several for myself, found them at JoAnn Fabrics. Appreciate the link to them at redheart, I tried finding them there first and couldn't.
Marly, thank you for these videos. they are SO helpful, and very clear. I've tried to knit by reading a book but ran into lots of difficulties. Your videos solve the problem! Wonderful.
You rotate the needle clockwise to get to the next needle you need as the left hand needle, but you are still knitting from the left needle to the right needle (which is counterclockwise).
Regarding my last comment: Unless you’re left handed and knit left handed then, you rotate the needles counterclockwise to get to the next needle that needs to be in your right hand, and you knit off the right hand needle onto the left hand needle (clockwise).
That blue safety pin device that marks the yarn where you want may be replaced by a short (approx 10 cm) thread of a different colour yarn that you just place it on your spot using a needle. I used it to mark the middle part of a scarf I knit. I agree it's easier to use that cute coloured safety pin, or other safety pin you have.
I just started on dpns and my work is filling in towards me rather than under the needles. Plus there’s a rouge string running through the middle. I’m trying to start a basket (Annie’s stitch club project). It says it’s an easy skill level, but considering it wants a backward loop cast on and kfb (which I’ve never done) on dpns, I would not categorize this as easy 😒
When you reach the end of the row, when you need to change the working pin, just use the new colour you chose. Don't cut the old colour. I like to lightly tie the 2 coloured threads at that beginning spot. Then knit a few rows in the new colour. When you need to switch to the "old" colour, just grab that thread. You keep switching colours in the same way. Do the switching in the same spot. In the end you need to hide the loose spots ( it's easier to use a crochet for that)
Using part one I knitted the cuff of my sock. in this video for the part of the Leg you said you kept it in stockinette stitch so you won't have to purl any more. I researched stockinette stitch and found out stockinette stitch is Row 1: Knit across Row 2: Purl across Repeat these two rows until the desired length is achieved. in your video I noticed you knits the first row and purls the second row. while purling the second row you said we continue to knit. when I look at your written pattern it says Continue even in stockinette stitch (knit every round) until the sock leg is 6″ [15.2 cm] long (including cuff) or desired length. my question is should I knit every row or should I knit one row purl one row alternating a knit row and purl row? second question do I knit the stitches from one needle then purl the next needle or do I alternate rounds, knitting all four needles then purling all four needles? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
When you do socks, you are doing stockinette stitch in the round. When you work in the round with the right side facing out you will only knit every round.
not necessary but it sure makes the sock look pretty :) I order mine from Perrfectly Catchy Designs. My friend Chappy and her husband make these: stores.ebay.com/CHAPPYS-ARTS-AND-CRAFTS/SOCK-BLOCKERS-BAG-HANDLES-/_i.html?_fsub=12144758

@@MarlyBird I keep recommending your videos on other groups because you are the best! I even tried continental after watching you enough and was able to do it. Not well enough to convert but it's a major achievement for me ❤
I just finished my first pair of socks (after 50 years of not knitting) only because I followed Marley Bird’s video. Thank you you are a great guide!

I love doing knit-alongs with you Marly!!!!
Thanks Marly. I wonder if you could share the pattern for the scarf you are wearing in the video?
Me encanta tu explicación aunque no hable el idioma, podrías activar la traducción en español los subtítulos. Gracias.
27:35 do I move the stitches to a circular needle and then start the 2nd sock?
You could if you need to use the dpn’s already in use.
This is one if my favorite socks to knit! Thank you!
Love your tutorials.!! I'm making my first pair of socks. This is much easier than following a book. Thanks.
I’ve concord the dpns, now for the easy part! Thanks Marly, so looking forward to learning how to turn the heal without holes.
I made the first cuff, thank you so much for this video, will be making the second cuff and hopefully have both socks completed for part 3. Most important it looks good to me, no ladders and the ribbing looks neat. I am proud of myself.
I'm enjoying the video and learning a lot. Thanks Marly.
I made these and they turned out well. Now I am wondering is there a way to make a rounded toe?

Hi Marly!

Thank you
Getting the 2nd part of the pattern is a bday gift for me! Thank you, now I have a relaxing project for my day! Lol
I am really enjoying using your yarn. Have you ever thought of making it in a sock weight?
I am from Canada and having hard time finding red heart chicken sheep yarn. What are alternatives do we have besides chic sheep yarn
Use anything that knits to he same gauge. A small amount of nylon with the wool will make them hard wearing.

Sorry me again found pattern an saw where it said to desired leg length! my bad thanks loving you videos so far
Haha
Thanks for explaining that ...so needles go counterclockwise and our knitting direction is clockwise.
Your brilliant
Thanks

How does one add stripes/color?
change to the new color when you want to add the new color by dropping the color you are using then working the stitches with the new color.
Can you show us how to change colors for doing stripes?

Thanks so much for this tutorial. Having so much fun making these socks! Also, how do we find out who won the giveaways?
Is there some place you talk about the sock stretchers, I don't know how to buy one!
Where do you get the wooden sock holder? Is that necessary? Thanks for your great videos!!
