Oh it was definitely affected by gravity. The problem is the jet allows for the angle of attack to change super abruptly so the wings no longer generate enough lift. However the aerodynamic control surfaces like elevators generate enough down force on the tail of the plane to point the nose upwards. But the jet no longer has enough air speed at this point for the wings to generate enough lift to defeat the gravitational force which pulls it down resulting in a stall.

Once you master that plane it should be pretty lethal. It has the advantage of being able to point its nose where it needs to in order to get a shot at the enemy in a dog fight. The more modern gripen, eurofighter and typhoon are good at that as well. Delta wing helps with it. The hornet and the su-35 is good at it too. You just have to be careful to not bleed off too much energy like you did on that take off

You're essentially pulling a low altitude cobra maneuver. Rapidly killing horizontal movement by becoming effectively a wall. Good for dogfights bad for takeoffs.

While I COMPLETELY understand (I'm waiting for the F4 Phantom) this is a a game and is more simcade. Still though, $60 for a plane in WT is crazy.
DCS is to warthunder like Arma is to Battlefield. You play them for different reasons. DCS is great but I don't have the time or attention span to learn the ins and outs of a jet and how it's weapon systems function. I'd rather just grab a plane and get onto the fun stuff. DCS can also get expensive as fuck once you start investing in better HOTAS, eye tracking and rudders. For warthunder all you need is a controller or keyboard and mouse
