You Maam are truly a master
Thanks so much :)
This artwork is truly enchanting! The seemingly ordinary subject matter is transformed into a captivating masterpiece through your masterful painting. The subtle variations in the off-white hue and the exquisite color gradation and harmony create a depth and richness that is truly mesmerizing. It's as if the cup has come to life on the canvas, elevated to a realm of beauty. Thank you Lauren for sharing the process of this painting.
I have two questions with regard to 1- the toning of the canvas in terms of how it was prepared, colors used, and medium/ solvent used. 2- How and which medium should be used for the actual painting, for example adding it on the paints directly or applying it on the whole canvas surface.
Thank you! With this piece the canvas is linen which I have coated with a few coats of clear gesso to retain the warm grey tone. Before I began painting, I applied a very thin layer of safflower oil with a foam makeup sponge to the entire canvas before applying paints straight from the tube :)
@@LaurenPretorius Hi Lauren,
Thank you so much for the explanation. Among all the TH-cam oil painting tutorials, your demonstrations are the best and most useful. I even watch your videos in slow playback and zoom in to follow every brushstroke. I have improved a lot in my painting following your techniques.
Thanks again!

Would be so helpful if you could provide in the reference photo?
What is connected to your paintbrush when you are mixing colors?
What you're seeing is the reflection of the paintbrush on the glass palette 👍
