I actually use the Mexican sangria soda from dollar tree as my base. (I guess if you can’t find it, you can substitute any juice you like, or I’ve made it with wine also), then I add the juice of one orange, add whole star anise, cinnamon sticks, and I stick whole cloves all in the orange peel until it looks like a spikey ball, and then simmer on low for an hour or so, serve warm :) (the house smells amazing lol) I always make it for Christmas and everyone LOVES it.
