  • A tribute to my current obsession, the gorgeous screen couple of Errol Flynn and Ollivia de Havilland aka Errolivia. In my dream world they got married, had ten kids and lived happily ever after.

I was fortunate enough to purchase a book many years ago by Tony Thomas. He compiled many of the writings of Errol Flynn. One of these was from a movie magazine and Flynn writes of his first screen kiss. This was with Olivia de Havilland in the movie Captain Blood. There was mentioned the different things taking place as Errol tried to get this right, as the director wanted. It finally came to please the director (Michael Curtiz) when he yelled "Cut and print it!" Flynn went on to write: with those happy words ringing in my ears, I realized that I had fallen to man's lowest estate: I had kissed a beautiful girl without remembering one single thing about the taste or feel of her lips. --- The start of this "She is the sunlight" with the excerpt from "They Died with there Boots On" is such an excellent scene. I believe it was the final scene the two had done. Nearly perfect.

Olivia DeHavilland in "The Heiress" is my favorite movie and favorite actress. I sent her a birthday card to her home in Paris for her 100th. She and Errol Flynn made movies that captured the imagination and transported us to another realm.

OLIVIA WASN'T A SCREEN SIREN, INSTEAD A LOVELY LADY WHO BROUGHT CHARM TO THE SCREEN THAT ERROL FOUND HER A CREATURE LIKE NO OTHER. THANKFULLY, THEY DID NOT GO DOWN THE ROAD OF "COMPLETING THEIR ATTRACTION." INSTEAD, THEY BOTH CHOSE TO REMAIN DEAR FRIEND AND ADMIRERS. THEIR SCREEN MAGIC IS AMAZING.

Olivia passed away July 25, 2020 at the tender age of 104. If God is merciful she now can see her longtime screen love and friend, Errol Flynn. I know he did not lead the kind of life that many people would think deserves eternal life in Heaven, but Olivia so gracious and I am sure she is at peace today. My Mother passed away 21 years ago today and I know she loved to see these two on the big screen as did I. I watch every movie they made together and enjoy it as if seeing it for the first time. I guess that is what movies are for to give dreams hope and the desire for something better for ourselves and those players on the silver screen. God bless them both and Miss Olivia, I loved seeing you for almost 70 years. RIP !

I just watched this with my mother. We're both big fans of Errol. This tribute made us both cry so much, because we've seen all these movies, read his autobiography and seen her interviews. They were really so close to each other, and it just comes across so much in these films. I wanted to thankyou for the amazing job you've done in creating it though. Know this, you've made two people very happy :)

In my dream world too, they finally married and she made him so happy. Errol truly loved Olivia and she loved him. Their entire lives they loved each other. I love them together; their kisses on screen are real. The last scene in They Died With Their Boots On is so poignant; it's their last film together and it makes me cry. Those kisses in this film prove it all.
It's just so sad; they should have been together forever.

These two were truly in love and it showed in their films I believe but she was the one that got away as they say. Unlike many of his other conquests Olivia was the real deal and knew her worth. Classy, elegant, intelligent, beautiful and talented. Although Errol possessed these qualities too his vices and addictions were his undoing. She realized as she matured that he would break her heart too and she was too smart for that. In retrospect I think she made the right choice!

I keep wondering if they were secret lovers off screen. So secretive and so good at not letting anyone get wind of their encounters, Rendezvous, or meetings but De Havilland knowing he is a philander didn’t make any demands of him and he loved her not to demand anything from her. They never talked about or mentioned getting married but they would dream of it.

However, I suspect they were having an affair and his not divorcing at that time derailed it. There is no question they loved each other but he likely knew she wouldn't put up with his lifestyle anyway ...
