Bastien just seems like a cool, down to earth dude. He's been one of my favorite skaters since i was introduced to him in Sorry. Glad to see he's looking good and still skating. He deserves his comeback because he didn't get nearly enough love from the industry when he was in his prime.
Exactly, he wasn't very liked by the rest of the pros back in the day. I remember watching him during skateboarding contests in Europe between 2000 and 2002. The other pros were making fun of him because of his arogance. I am also glad he's changed and I really enjoy watching him skate nowadays. @TobiasHeinzle
Nash gotta be a local who lived and experienced during its come up period, his description of living there and how it changed and evolved once discovered was what made it so good
I Remember when Bastien burst onto the scene. He blew our minds with that VHS of insane tricks everywhere. His influence hit like a rocket, inspiring so many of us Brazilian skaters. Those early 20s, man, that was a golden age for skateboarding!
Legend - Salabanzi is such a good host for this show - hope you make more with him, he is like so natural talking in front of the camera. His Nollie Heel down Macba were my first days in skateboarding so this episode is special to me :)
I've been to Barcelona a few times. the first time I went, I was looking for Macba, I started hearing the sound of skateboards and followed the noises, when I realized, there I was fulfilling a dream of visiting this place, and I even met Thiago Lemos
I love this format of skate videos (documentaries) it feels like skateboarding as a narrative/movement than a "paid partnership" video. Kudos to guys for giving us such a beautiful video about something most people watching this loves being a part of... 🎉
Listening to a skater so knowledgeable about the spot (himself having lived 3 years at the spot) adds up something priceless to the story being told. It was well thought out! Loved it
I’ve been to MACBA in 2006 and again in 2018. To someone who doesn’t skate you can’t explain the significance of this place. It is truly the most magical place I’ve ever been in my life. Not just to skate but the whole vibe of it all
What a phenomenal compilation. Thank you for putting this together and for sharing the thoughts of this legendary skater with us. It was a real treasure to hear Bastian take a trip down memory lane in this video. Thank God that the museum has been able to see the glory and profound skills that these skaters bring to MACBA. May God bless them.
Skateboarding has risen to the next level only thanks to skaters like Bastien Salabanzi. I remember watching his profile and it energized me to learn tricks! 🙂
Thanks a lot for this awesome edit! I had goosebumps watching it!t Two times in my life i have been to MACBA and can agree that this spot has so much impact on the progression of skateboarding. Its a marble dreamland like stalin plaza. I am happy seeing Bastien still around. When he became a skateboarding superstar in the early 2000s his level of skating was unbelievable. He still kills it!
So nice. At the day i skated and saw macba the first time ever berrics announced this video. You feel that there is something special around this place.
Macba made me move to barcelona , its one of the purest skateboarding experience you can have , in both positives and negatives, every skater should try it for himself
Great video, especially with Bastien! Only clip I missed in this video is Hans Claessens doing the whole ledge one wheel wheelie for a carhartt commercial. Did not understand how that was even possible when i was a kid.
The out ledge threading the needle was so epic, was so narrow you could easily get your ankle stuck in there and break it. Kenny Reed bs Smith in there still stands out as really special
2000. I sat watching a young Bastien (just fresh off the Flip Sorry part) absolutely rip macba to shreds. 6 trick lines every go. Passed me a nice pollen J too hehe
For stalin plaza and macba are the two momumental european skateplazas in Europe. They are sill skatable and skateboarding there has progressed so much in the last 25 years.
Anyone who has skated there will tell you the same thing, best flatground in the world. Don't know what it is about it but every trick you do just feels right, I barely even skated the ledges when I was there
It’s been said that was corruption Lucky for us skaters It’s a stone carryed from some place in Africa . Very expensive . Once an engineer told me it cost 7-8 times if u did with spanish stone So corruption is not always bad
Kind of crazy how you can build a plaza and include a certain style of benches and dividers and doing that can make such a huge impact on an entire culture of people.
I will NEVER forget being a 16 yr old kid watching Bastien kick flip front board that rail in Sorry. Fuckin A that was a unique feeling that can’t really be duplicated nowadays.
A BIG thank you to the city and the museum for tolerating skating at Macba

Same! It seems like you missed his solo part from Brussels earlier this year (?) Dope part at his age for sure
He once was called Arroganzi, met him at Parallel in Barcelona and knew how he got this name… glad he changed for the Good 👍🏻
@@TobiasHeinzle i mean, if you are one of the greatest skaters of all time, i would be arrogant too.
I enjoy watching his video part and it seems like a lot of ppl forgot he was in street league and did pretty good in it he was a crowd favorite.

That fact that they been playing clips during the whole video is mind blowing. 🤯
Petition to have Bastien host every single episode of this series. He’s so good.
Yes
Nash gotta be a local who lived and experienced during its come up period, his description of living there and how it changed and evolved once discovered was what made it so good
The amount of effort to curate all of the clips at a spot is incredible. Great job!

bastien doesnt lazer what are you talking about lol
He rocks out on the ss-bigheels, maybe that?@@MissingScrew27

This is easily my favorite thing The Berrics has put out in a while.
This is awesome. Bastien is looking good, healthy. That makes me happy. Bastien and Busenitz are my dudes. Need more of both of them.
this was just beautiful to witness
One of the best vid mini Doc's of 2023❤
Thank you for your time Bastien
Loved every second of this. Very accurate in describing it's value and place in skateboarding. Thank you Berrics and Macba!
I've been to Barcelona a few times. the first time I went, I was looking for Macba, I started hearing the sound of skateboards and followed the noises, when I realized, there I was fulfilling a dream of visiting this place, and I even met Thiago Lemos
listening to this mans passion gives me chills
thanks for this piece of history
The back story told by Bastien, along with the footage to accompany the story telling = mad respect to all those that rolled thru!
Made me emotional this.
Having been before, and getting into skating around 2000, make the most of your years, guys.
One love
3:35 the way Stanton catches that switch hardflip is so sick.
I used to have a poster of him doing a switch bs big spin down it. Still the gnarliest trick done at the spot imo
@@dustinrisinger1958 He's one of the gnarliest and most stylish skaters that's been sort of forgotten somehow
Really amazing doc on MACBA. Bastien killed it hoisting this.

Thank You Bastian.
really nice documentary
I'd watch more in this series for sure.

Bastien, is a true artist. Love his style and how he reflects on the impact Europe had on skateboarding. One of the greats n Berric’s well done!
Yes! The Tiago lemos ledge let it be known!
That trick absolutely blew my mind! SW BS Tail on such a tall ledge ist wizzardry. WTF!
I loved every minute of this. Thank you BERRICS.
Man the early 2000s of Skateboarding:)
so good to see some bastien
Bastiens banger in flip Sorry is still one of my most favorite clips ever ❤ The level of skating now is absolutely mind-blowing 😮
Great vid! The clips at the last, modified out ledge with Bastien’s narration set-up is classic.
Bastien is a beast. Remember watching his MACBA lines so much back in the day getting pumped to go skate 🔥👑
The way Bastien narrates this is amazing
Incredible mini documentary! Loved it!!!
shoutout to the video editor who did very well skate archival compilation! with a perfect sound!!
What a phenomenal compilation.

That was heavy, I always enjoy edits of all the great stuff that went down on a single spot!
So hyped watching this!

That's a good series! keep it up this is awesome
Beautiful piece and Bastien is the best! ❤❤❤
This is dope
Finally a good video.... get Salabanzi a show!
Still remember discovering Bastien back in the dial up internet days, dude burst out into the scene snd blew everyones minds
Beautifully done and beautifully narrated. What an epic spot. I can’t wait to visit it in person.

Arto's fakie flip is god tier 🐣💌🐣
This video is Art 🙌🏼❤
Especially during that time in early 2000's as an American, that whole city was beyond our concept on what was possible. Thanks for this!
thanks for including our clip at 13:03 from our full lenght!! check it if you didnt watch yet
Thanks for an in-depth look at one of the most insane street-skate spots ever👏
amazing commentary from a legendary skater, thanks for bringing me back🙏🏾
Great homage to a historic skate spot
Viva Macba ! 🏁🏁
Macba made me move to barcelona , its one of the purest skateboarding experience you can have , in both positives and negatives, every skater should try it for himself
One of the greatest spots in the world 🌎!
Awesome video and the commentary is Legendary! He’s a great dude! :)
Bastien is such a legend
Joslin's bigspin is such a gnarly trick... the fact that it is not even his ender in True is insane.
Aaron Rowe even got a clip. Nice!!!
These are awesome, keep em coming
Awesome video!
Great video, especially with Bastien! Only clip I missed in this video is Hans Claessens doing the whole ledge one wheel wheelie for a carhartt commercial. Did not understand how that was even possible when i was a kid.
Adrielito haciendo la cerradora es todo un honor para los argentinos
to be honest this is the best half cab flip ever for me personally! just blew my mind those days...
Thank you bastein
Bastien é muito foda!!!, 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Viva Macba viva Salabanzi 🙌
That was an intense 18 minutes!
The out ledge threading the needle was so epic, was so narrow you could easily get your ankle stuck in there and break it.
Kenny Reed bs Smith in there still stands out as really special
this was awesome. more bastien.
I remember this guy from watching FLIP Sorry on VCR when i was a small child. Great memories. Now 20 years later i named my dog Flip.
2000. I sat watching a young Bastien (just fresh off the Flip Sorry part) absolutely rip macba to shreds. 6 trick lines every go. Passed me a nice pollen J too hehe
Bastien has hands down the best style in skateboarding.
His landing ass down
Is the best. Most stylish
I teared up when he said "long long time" 😂 i love skateboarding

It's true, feels so much better than any where else when your tail hits the floor
It’s been said that was corruption

great video. Even though Joslin's big spin is amazing, Tiago has the best trick on that spot! That switch bs ts is insane!!
The EMB of Spain 🤙🤙🍻
❤❤❤ come MACBA
So good
Saw Bastien at MACBA the other day. Wow
Yeah he was joining his girlfriend at barcelona
Manque juste le long switch back tail de Jean Jacques Rousseau. Super montage! Bravo Sébastien. Merci.
Brian Wenning. The style he had will go down in history. Rep. Jersey Shore
The fact that more people haven’t gotten hurt at MACBA is amazing in its own self
Yea boii have a nice day everyone!
Great doc, no footage of Nassim Lachhab is an absolute crime though, dude killed it there in the past few years
Take a drink every time you hear MACBA
15:09 interesting that he says that when, Nollie bs Noseblunt was done almost 20 years ago.
MACBA
caralho o a borda com o nome do Tiago Lemos !!!💥💥✌
The best skater
I will NEVER forget being a 16 yr old kid watching Bastien kick flip front board that rail in Sorry. Fuckin A that was a unique feeling that can’t really be duplicated nowadays.
Great documentary and footage.. but seriously why didn't you include kelly harts 360 flip?!
Sick well put together! Berrics always has that hand out though
GRACIAS SKATEBOARD MACBAAAAAA
