Is Scrapman not familiar with Lovecraftian Mythos? If you see those kinds of things, you die from insanity. They start of quasi benign like giant floating eye yeeting smaller eyes. Once it turns into a floating maw that devours things is when you know you've slipped too far into madness and it's too late for you. There's no reverting it back into an eyeball because you're now stricken with madness from seeing it. All you can do is try to keep going and keep the last of your SAN points as long as you can.
It's not from Lovecraft it's from terraria it's the last stage before it dies it can't go back because it's actually a different eye the left and the right
