I love that you’re growing your own flowers! I’ve tried several packets of strawflowers and have only ever had one successful plant! And only a handful out of dozens of seeds even germinated! There must be a secret to it.
Had to pause to say my honesty has also not flowered yet (I'm also in East Mids) - all self seeded, normally everywhere - but this year only leaves so far... like you, I'm hoping for a late flowering.
Am I brave enough to pinch out my dahlias? I’ve only just now started that process with the Cosmos and it makes me feel like an executioner! I think your dahlias are going to epic, thanks for showing us how the plants are growing.
Pinch them! If you have cutting varieties (30-48 inches), you need to pinch them to get blooms in quantity and stem length. I know it’s hard but it must be done just like regular deadheading.
The foxgloves look absolutely fabulous, the allium do too, I am having trouble getting my cosmos seeds to germinate, normally I just put seeds straight into the border but this year absolutely nothing, I bought some seed compost placed that in the garden but still nothing so now I am trying some in small plant pots, fingers crossed this works, the allotment is really taking shape now 👍
I'm in Coventry. I put my dahlias out after last frost, which was the beginning of May this year. They are all about 3 foot tall with buds. I find they do better with a bit of cold. I have no yellowing that's definitely a deficiency.
Such a relaxing, beautiful country garden ❤. Just wondered if the plants that weren't flowering yet were biennial? Waited on my honesty to flower this year (New Zealand), but just lots of greenery.. Then realised they won't flower until next summer 🤪
I have watched both the May tour video and this one, and I don't mind at all seeing things twice! I love your garden and the gate to it. It reminds me of The Secret Garden book and the movie from the 1990s. Sending love from blessings from the USA!
Only half way through the clip but just wanted to say my honesty that I planted last year hasn’t flowered either! I’m wondering if it could be weather related? Right I’m going to watch on! X
If I was to slosh the hose around you gotta be careful :) I totally lost it at Ludwig Hercules lol Ludwig Helfer has frizzy orangish petal flowers that resemble helichrysums.
Hi Katrina. I love watching your videos. I stumbled upon them by accident , looking for growing potatoes in containers . I confess i love an English garden . When your flowers are in bloom your alotment looks magnificent. Just wondered how big an area it is ? Good luck with everything from New Zealand.
Im in Atlanta (hot and wet) and it's funny to me how your cosmos look so much better than your zinnias. I didn't realize they were more "cold" tolerant until just now. You're going to love your statice!!! I need to find somewhere to cram allium schubertii 😅
OMG a huge collection... you will have your own private Chelsea Flower Show at your wedding. May slugs and snails stay far away from plants. Hopefully there will be no drought issues as well.
I was told that there are 100's of different species of powdery mildew and the ones that occur on your squash can only live on squash leaves, not any other plant. Same goes for every plant's powdery mildew meaning your squash can't spread it to any other species of plant.
The Allotment's going to be completely MT of colour the day before your wedding! 😄 I hope you're not planning to do all the harvesting yourself. You won't have time. 😳
Beautiful! With your long straight stick, you could put some permanent marks on it as measured intervals for different plant spacings. Use different colours, on different sides of the stick to incorporate as many variables as possible.
Some lovely thing to come.✨ have you not put the rudbeckia in the ground because you don’t have space? A lot of the seedlings you have are cool flowers (rudbeckia, scabiosa, strawflowers) and can go in weeks before last frost. They will take off once they get their feet in soil☺️My apricotta cosmos are blooming now. Gorgeous flower!
Aways nice and a sense of achievement when it's completed but the prospect can be a bit daunting!.With a dodgy knee recently developed I'm having to rethink how to do certain tasks: a little fishing stool has been suggested! Maybe I'll get myself a little red pointy hat, fishing rod and become a feature! Lol! Great to watch and listen to you as always. Thank you.
Look forward seeing everything come July/Aug. My mom would use her tools too for measurements, something I started as well. Lastly, as lovely as the allotment is, those foxglove really steal the show, I just love those.
The spring has been unusually cold across the Atlantic as well. My zinnias have been out for weeks and are just too cold at night to actually put on growth!
Looking forward to the wedding flower series once they start to bloom. Growing quite a few of the same varieties so hopefully can learn from you along the way, I’ve already picked up quite a lot of tips from this clip. Thank you xxx ❤
I had trouble with germinating my scabious seeds this year too. Did you mean calendula or phlox when you mentioned powdery mildew? You said Art Shades which is the name of one of my phlox varieties. Your grasses are looking amazing! What an awesome variety of flowers you are growing! Your wedding flowers will be beautiful!!
hi Katrina I'm only asking would you be interested in some gardening tools as I dont use anymore so I'm suffering with cancer and liver disease so I would like to give them to some who appreciate them and look after them I've got the full set of the wolf garten tools with all different handles plus forks n spade I got them all just like you to have them
I noticed your dahlias are planted much higher in the pots than mine. I've been told the tubers should be about 10 cm below the soil. Mine have all come up fine, so is it not as important to bury them or have I been lucky?
When I plant them in the soil they will be a bit deeper yes. When planting in pots to start them off I like to give them more compost to root into so they don’t go as deep.
It really is such a shame millions of pounds are spent on flowers that just go in the bin after just a few days! I pick fresh wild flowers from my garden every day! Everybody should grow their own flowers❤❤
I can't wait to see the final result of your wedding flowers. So special to be able to grow your own.
has she posted that yet? I came here to find it, but haven't.
@@superkatertot5425 I have seen a few photos over on Instagram...she may still be on honeymoon. Hopefully we will see a catch up video soon

Following with interest 😊😊

Seeing you crouch at the front of the Polly tunnel next to the nettles makes me want to yell out "don't get stung" hah!
Had to pause to say my honesty has also not flowered yet (I'm also in East Mids) - all self seeded, normally everywhere - but this year only leaves so far... like you, I'm hoping for a late flowering.
Interesting! Good to know I’m not alone.
cant wait to see these :]
It’s always so nice watching your videos. Your voice is calming and your garden is so peaceful and beautiful. Thanks for sharing as always.

My zinnias did the same thing this week. Love the appearance of that amaranth.

Can’t wait see.. love your channel
I found sweet peas amazing for natural confetti, dry super easy & retain a nice colour.

So many beautiful flowers, it will be the wedding of the year .

The soil in those beds looks fabulous. Wish some area's in our garden had that texture. 🌻 😬
Love your garden 🪴 , enjoy it and the rewards you get out of it .😀😀🧤
Only half way through the clip but just wanted to say my honesty that I planted last year hasn’t flowered either! I’m wondering if it could be weather related? Right I’m going to watch on! X
If you planted last year, like I did, you may have to wait for flowering next year

Doing a fabulous job, have a lovely plot. Well done.

My better half and I love your videos. Fellow Nottingham folk 👍🙂

Wow. I just bought some fox gloves seeds. Your flowers are so amazing. You've done so well!! Not surprising, but so nice to see.
Such a lovely video as always Katrina! Just wanted to share a thought, is it possible to spray paint the dried allium seed heads for your wedding?
The Allotment's going to be completely MT of colour the day before your wedding! 😄 I hope you're not planning to do all the harvesting yourself. You won't have time. 😳
Of out to pinch out my Dahlias. New to growing them this year after seeing yours
Good afternoon. How are you? Nice place you live. Congratulations for the video.

Beautiful 🍃🌸🍃
Cannot wait to see your flowers for your special day.
Allotment looking great, really good display of foxgloves !
Love everything about your videos. Remember to save those nigella seeds from the pods... very tasty.
Beautiful hobby Gardening. Stay blessed

Honesty will flower next year.
But they should be flowering now 😂 I sowed them last year!
Looking amazing 😊

Glad to hear. Thanks for watching! ❤
should look lovely
Hey
So exciting to follow and see. Are the flowers only for the buket or also for the party?
Yes, my honesty flowers flowered in April/May.. but I do have a patch that did not flower. Very odd.
Calendula 🙂 thanks for watching!
" Cor - NELL" is how I have heard it repeatedly referred to ☺ Do you just pinch your dahlias once ? Or two or three times as it grows ? TY
Just once 👍🏻
I can't get my Nigellia to germinate, any ideas?

Panicum panic😅
Honesty flowers in its third year, as do many biennials.
Biennals flower in their second year.

Um… 👌
Thank you for a lovely video again. Does your fiance have a hobby too? Xx
I love your crouch knee, you can crouch your legs!
