Those of you who know me, you know that I don't do makeup "tutorials"'. I try new stuff and hopefully we learn something and have a laugh while doing it. Those of you who don't know me will soon realize that I am a huge dork who... well, that's pretty much it.
Love you Lou. Your hilarious . Yah i prefer the boring palettes too. Blues take me back to the 90's....cuz i wasn't alive in the 70's and 80's either. 😜😜😜😂😂😂
I think you're awesome! I really like the new pallet on your eyes. It's difficult to break out of your comfort zone. I'm 49, and I wear all the colors, lol. Glitter, bright colors, you name it. With practice, you can make anything work 😃 Regardless, you're great, and my favorite TH-camr!
Yeah, I'm mostly a neutral eyeshadow wearer but I do use purple quite a bit, as well as green. I love watching Angelica Nykvist for colourful eye look inspiration & techniques... she's the queen of colour!
I do too, over ordered it twice now & have received two wrong ones each time! Ever since, I only see others in the set & this particular palette has always been out of stock on their website!
It's fun to step outside of our comfort zones sometimes! I had to get myself used to incorporating more color, and I still fall back on neutrals, but I like the occasional boost in color. What I think the beauty gurus do to sort of "tone down" the more vibrant makeup is to add false lashes. Yeah, some of the lashes look like a hand fan someone popped on their eyelid, but a *slightly* fuller lash does a lot to distract from the colors and make it seem more composed, if that makes sense. I know that my husband felt that way sometime over the summer when I asked what he thought about my orange+yellow+sandy eye look pre-mascara (I still suck at falsies); he felt a little less distracted when I added a few coats of mascara to bring it all together.
erijeri I agree. I think dark lashes & liner ground a bright eye look. Also some darkness in the outer corner to give some depth & that also makes the colour 'pop' more.
It's all about the application of the eyeshadow. Particularly when you normally go for more nude looks it's no use popping the most colourful shadow all over your eyelid. Why not try to use this extreme colour as an accent. Maybe as a line so you can gradually get the hang of it instead of abandoning the palette. And a pop of colour brightens up the day 😁 it's all a matter of practice and playing around.
I really liked your jelly flower. Lipstick video where you dissected it and melted it. I felt like I was watching an episode of intervention. So funny. 😂
i think the blue looks so good on you! to help you adjust to it i'd suggest putting a light orange or orangy brown colour in the crease first, that or use the blues as a pop of colour on the lower lash line
I didn’t think it was bad, but I wanted a close up to see what you did. You will use it. The copper color and the beige were beautiful. But if you wanna try some stuff out , like bright colors, why not wait till CVS has a sale (and a coupon)and get it for almost free. So when you buy high end you at least know what you like. Just a suggestion.💜
That's what I've been doing, I also know from other people who are in the makeup industry who have told me that for the price, BH Cosmetics has very great eyeshadows that outperform some high end products & brushes that are at midrange level performance. But they said the e.l.f. Cosmetics brushes are great for practicing with as they're always a buck per brush, so they can get wet when spritzing a shimmer shadow & I won't be making too bad of a dent in my bank account because of wasted tools. I guess lol, but I think they're actually quite soft those brushes & agree with the palette that I have.
The blue brings your eye color out! You could use it more as an accent color. It would be pretty with brown and tan. I know how you feel about trying brighter colors - I always feel conspicuous. I tried a deep pink the other day and my child laughed at me. Damn those beauty gurus!
I did the exact same thing, just playing around with my new palette that has one pink in it (I rather despise pink, especially one so garish) & my daughters loved it. I also did what normally isn't done, as Lou had blended a shimmer shadow into the crease causing so much fallout, except I had that bright pink! Am practicing a Valentine's day look, so not wanting to appear in a Xmas mood I placed a deep warm brown over my lid in attempting to blend away both pink & glitter I had there. I'm actually somewhat pleased with the results: a toned down glitter, but was moreover impressed with the chocolate strawberry color I ended up creating! I threw on a white eyeliner for effect & may attempt to recreate it this upcoming Valentine's. Of course staying in & only having 3 other humans under 11yo to criticize my lack of skills isn't too terrible either.
I have blue eyes and I use a black or brown eyeliner and put the blue eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner (smudge it up a little), then do neutral colors on the lid and crease. I love grey too, I bet It'd look great on you too. ♡♡♡♡
This video was so fun to watch. Me personally I love all things bright!! But I have my days when I rock my neutral palettes. I try to use all my makeup at least a few times. 😘😉
My Favorite looks are halo eye, cutcreases, and Shades of all kinds of colors from neutrals to brights,I blend several colors to get the one I want sometimes but I Love Aunt is and sunset eyes!!!With LASHES and A terracotta lipoie!
I liked this blue look on your blue eyes, really do make them vibrant! The lid shimmers do apply much better after doing your crease shade first though, well easier I find. I also use a "C" shadow brush wetted with any shimmer & patted onto the mobile lid space, so far zero fallout with that application technique. I haven't had any since I switched to doing it that way, beforehand with blending the shimmer or metallics on I'd get a good amount of fallout. Forget where I got that tip from now. I've been wanting this for months now! I ordered it twice now & I have gotten the other two of the set because both times I've ordered it they've sent me two wrong ones each time! Ever since then I've seen it all sold out online & want it even more, despite getting the Ultimate Artistry Palette & the very lovely Desert Oasis with a much more vibrant set of blues in those each. Thanks for sharing & have a great day today!
I also stay away from bright colours, but that's because I really don't wanna stand out. But I have to say it looks really good on you! ❤from the Netherlands❤
Blue eye shadow drains the color from blue eyes but looks smashing on brown eyes. The best colors are those that are opposite your eye color in the color wheel. I love lighter warm, bronzey, rusty colors. They make my blue eyes really pop and dont overwhelm my pale skin. But then, I prefer to hear "you look great" rather than " your makeup looks great". Cheers, Lou!
I respectfully disagree with you on the matter of "draining," perhaps "distracting" would be a more accurate statement? However, in regards to the application process it was a touch distracting. But the colors themselves, they're gorgeous on hers & others with blue eyes-vibrant! The crease transition colors of cool toned brown into blue really do make blue eyes much more vibrant than my own hazel green eyes with flecks of yellow-a little blue is ok on me, it's the shirt that washes me out. I'm surprised by what a little grey can do. I agree with rusty colors, those oranges are universally flattering. Cheers!
I love that your shirt was on backwards. I'll be getting dressed & wondering why the neck feels funny. You're so good at this because you're so natural, like a girlfriend. Love ya Lou!
All of the brightly colored hair and brightly colored eyeshadow’s and lips seem to have come in after the hunger games movies. I tend to like the more neutral pallet for daytime on blondes. The more vibrant colors are for evening. Also personal opinion, women of color look fabulous in the Bright jewel tone colors.
Btw I tried the blue color of the 39A Morphe palette on my brown eyes, I wanted to change and create something funky, that was well done. My bf and my mom said that was horrible so idk I think I’ll stick to natural pinkie colors then 😔
I can't speak to Morphe, as I'll never try that brand for personal reasons. But I can say that I've tried blues of various shades & formulas from e.l.f. Cosmetics, BH Cosmetics, Colourpop, Makeup Revolution, NYX, Wet N Wild & Urban Decay. I find myself the best formulas are in all of these brands as far as I have tried in makeup for *eyeshadows* especially & with most other products. However, as far as *eyeshadow formulas go, e.l.f. Cosmetics are so hit & miss that I have very few of!* I love their skincare, brushes, blushes, bronzers, *& highlighters.* I have hazel green eyes with flecks of yellow with light skin color, if that helps any.
Lol. When I first saw your shirt I thought is that backwards? You're so funny! Hey, I grew up in the seventies and eighties and I always wore That Hideous blue eyeshadow. I wouldn't dream of doing that look again. But!! The times I've seen blue used in makeup tutorials nowadays, they always do a very neutral transition color first. And then they just do a pop of color, such as blue on the eyelid. And then darken up the outer Corners with something darker. Haha. I love you so much. Thank you for your videos.
The formulas are so much better now. Like you said, when transitioning into a pop of color done well & using the proper shades, it's quite lovely. A cool toned light brown or grey here in the crease, with a touch of black in the outer corner V would make the center blue pop. With her blue eyes & blonde hair, makeup looks like this will always make her eyes assuredly vibrant.
Put the blue in the outward corners of the eye and the crease, lighter on the rest and play with the others on the brow bone, I think you would like it more if it wasn't all that blue, but I think this color sets off your eyes and your coloring.
Exactly what I want & it's always out of stock on their website! I have all of these, except for this particular palette, as I had originally ordered it & they sent me two of the wrong ones! If they send me the wrong palette again, I'm going to throw the others out as I've not worn them but one once. I'm starting to dislike them, either because they've sent me two wrong ones or because & I'm speaking of the "L'Amour" palette-I'm uninspired by!
"Don't look at my camera" eep sorry Lou! I use a blue like this then blend it into black on the outsides of my eyelids. Takes ages to get the perfect gradient on both sides but well worth it
Ha! The panty liner trick is mine! I invented that. I even have the photos to prove it 😉 That’s a different Lou. I like this Lou. Go for it, R Kid. I use bright colours all the time. Life’s too short for greige! You look brill 👍🏼
I love BH-cosmetics! :) .... I think they do have some really nice products (love their brushes & lipsticks) :) ... The shades in this palette arent for me 😅.. I pref neutral colors! :)
Hey Lou, why don’t you and Ava do this video? th-cam.com/video/10F6n-1FLiI/w-d-xo.html I think it’d be brilliant to watch you two, cos you’re foils for each other! 👍🏼
Meh. Very rarely do I see blue eyeshadow and think it looks amazing. I think there's a good reason why people mocked it from the 80s for so many years. Although I rocked it back then. LOL
Actually did too & am glad to see some things making a comeback from the 80s & 90s. But with better technology & far superior formulas. Except the chunky neon pink gloss, I despise pink because of that flocky, glittery, frosted pink-meh!
Those of you who know me, you know that I don't do makeup "tutorials"'. I try new stuff and hopefully we learn something and have a laugh while doing it. Those of you who don't know me will soon realize that I am a huge dork who... well, that's pretty much it.

You're not a dork at all. I look forward to your videos because you make me smile and laugh.
You’re not a “dork”, Lou. I keep telling you...you’re a loony.
I like this look on you!
Yeah, I'm mostly a neutral eyeshadow wearer but I do use purple quite a bit, as well as green. I love watching Angelica Nykvist for colourful eye look inspiration & techniques... she's the queen of colour!
Looks good on you!
I kept thinking your shirt looked backwards I like blues and green eyeshadows wear what makes you feel comfortable.
I see your having fun , but if u r looking for easier application try a small flat concealer brush for your lid .
im dieing over here when u had your sweater backwards..now I just had to subcribe..your so funny...
I loooove that palette! It was already sold out by the time I caught wind of it 😔
I do too, over ordered it twice now & have received two wrong ones each time! Ever since, I only see others in the set & this particular palette has always been out of stock on their website!
Girl, ya need a transition shade in the crease to soften the blue lid. 😂
so im obsessed with your videos and i watched you so much that my now my mom watches you as well 😂
Javi 😘

The blue looks good on you. Doesn't hurt to try different colors. 👍🏼💖🦋
Use brown/s in your crease/transition/outer V, and the blues just on the lid. Will be way more wearable.
I agree, also matte greys work well too. Especially with blue eyes, the combo makes them stand out vibrantly.
After you added the mascara it made it so much more natural.
Your humor, your make up, this tutorial... So on point 😍 Love you, Lou.
Love you too!

I go for neutral shades. Lots of orange browns and tans. I venture out more with lipsticks than eyeshadow.
I think it looks good💖💖💖
looks nice, in the late 70's early 80's we called it Disco Blue
Haha, yep!
That blue looks gorgeous on you!!!!
I have blue eyes and I use a black or brown eyeliner and put the blue eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner (smudge it up a little), then do neutral colors on the lid and crease. I love grey too, I bet It'd look great on you too. ♡♡♡♡

The color looks nice with your eyes!
It looked nice on you but I am totally a neutral girl . I have tried dark and bright colors they do not look good on me. Great video Lou.💕💕💕💕💕
Honest review with Lou wit. I loved it! xo
BY cosmetics has some really great products!!!
I also stay away from bright colours, but that's because I really don't wanna stand out.
But I have to say it looks really good on you!

Makeup should be fun and it washes off, so do whatever you want, Lou. Rock that blue eyeshadow into the night! 🙃
It looks great!

To me you look kinda like Sheri Moon Zombie. I don't know, you're just both so pretty and youthful looking to me
I love your hair today Lou! I laughed when you turned your shirt! I thought it must have been backwards! 😂
Aaaannnd.....2, almost 3 years later, I'm here to tell you that the blue looks fabulous on you, if it even matters at this point!
Very pretty!!!!

The colors are sooo amazingggg but I’d choose a neutral kind of look instead of of bright ones
Stepping outside your Norm is weird sometimes...awesome that you tried it! I just can't spend the money on it....I always stick to the nudes.☺️
I also bought that palette because of the blue shade 😂
