I have been hearing a ton about crypto trading bots so I decided to go ahead and try it for myself. I put $1000 into 10 cryptos for $10,000 total. $10,000 into kucoin trading bots. I then let the bot run for 7 days to see what happened.

Curious how all that selling is fitting into the tax calculation, given that all sells are taxable events.
@@vvvoda it's a Singapore company that I believe is not licensed in the US. Notice how you didn't even have to really do KYC or anything? I'm new to crypto but I doubt you get any tax forms from KuCoin.. I don't know this but assume.
@@bobbymaloney1059 KuCoin isn't even licensed in the US so I doubt any tax forms. It's based out of Singapore and you have to send to another exchange to cash out USDT I believe or that's what my plans are.
@@YoMommasFavD No matter what company you use, you have to declare profits in the country of fiscal residence (where you are registered as living and working).
I don t know if crypto is regulated to that level, but would assume so.

Been looking for something like this for a while. Awesome. I know what you mean about the downside sometimes when its better to just hold the coin instead of having a bot but on the upside, it's like you said. Can't complain when a bot is making you money while you sleep and lowering the risk factor at the same time. Rather win steady 100 times than win big 10 and loose big 15.

The rebalancing bot is actually a very useful tool for investors. Put all your crypto into a portfolio, including the stable coins, and let it handle all the fluctuations between coins. You can modify the percentages according to BTC bullishness/bearishness. For example, now you should be at most at 20% in crypto and 80% in cash. If BTC reverses course and keeps climbing then you modify it to 40-60, then 75-25, and eventually to full crypto. Use moving averages to estimate bullishness and bearishness.

I've done a good deal of playing with bots lately. While your profit numbers were impressive, I would want to know what the overall market(s) were doing during your testing week. When markets are up (even slightly), bots work well.. When the markets drop, you're going to lose more in the value of the coin itself than the bot can make up in trading. Bottom line: I'm not sure it's worth the work (and need to monitor) as compared to simply trading the coins themselves (and maybe with a bit of leverage, for even more action).

That is just true for trading in general though. Of course they did better when the market did better. Humans are the same way. And they aren't a lot of work. It takes a few minutes to set up. Depending how you trade, they are often far less work. They are more work than HODLing.

Do you have to shut down the BOT in order to realize profit? Is there a way to take profit and still leave the BOT running?
Is there a way to get the bot to take out profits and move to a separate account? If I'm up 100 dollars, I want that amount sold and moved to a separate account, not retraded and lost.

Hey Max, I was watching your video about the Kucoin bot, good info. I was wondering if you set up your spot bot to pay grid profits back in for that bots duration, or if you clicked to opt out of the pay back in option, in parameters.

One thing to keep in mind is all of those bot trades are taxable events, so the record keeping could become really burdensome if they trade a lot.
It should be available in the transaction history.
Relavant warning! One should not start this if record keeping has not been established, e.g. using various paid services. A non IT person can never master this.
There’s crypto tax services that make it idiot proof, they walk you through how to import data like this.

When using bots it's not about the individual Trade pair, you have to evaluate the entire Bot portfolio to see massive profit.

I'm noticing that when I stop a bot I have much less of the non-USDT crypto. There aren't any great ways to time the repurchase (or back out of the bot) so that I grab a good rebuy price. If the price is high then I might lose whatever gains I'd shown while the bot was running I think. How do you time stopping a bot or what strategy is there to retain gains while not losing so much of your position in that non-USDT crypto?
The Trading Parrot has a bot orchestrator that turns bots on and off according to market conditions. Works reasonably well but I still like to monitor things.

How did you determine which coins to use for the spot grid bots? Fantastic content and channel.
that would work, I assume, the same way one goes about determining what coins to invest in. Shouldn't be any different, you just want ones that you think will go up in a predetermined time frame. How to do that well, is essentially what separates successful and non successful traders. There are strategies of course, but intuition is what it boils down to.

$500 spot bot for about 3mths. Lost $200. $500 in most coins would of been beaten that. That was my test results

Matic/usdt . Of course coin trend is consideration factor that spot bot does not take offset. Therefore you have to time to run the bot. Which counter its purpose.

@@dallashill23 Not really. I invested in ETN bot at the peak. Still -50% from my entry but I'm at +35% profit. The longer you run the bot, the more it's going to cover for your own idiocy - which won't happen when you just hodl.
The thing is though, if you play the bots smart you are going to make more; decrease the range after pumping, increase the range after dumbing, because it's always more likely that the opposite happens after huge movements.

Buying bitcoin doesn't make you a winner, the ability to make profits daily out of your capital is what makes you a winner. Stop depending on the market prices to make profit, choose trading over Hodling...thoughts?
I will always advice anyone now to forget predictions and start making good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses. The market is very unstable and you can't tell if it's going bearish or bullish. While myself and others are trading without fear of making a loss others are being patient for the price to skyrocket.
Now would be the best time to own cryptocurrencies, I should consider investing so I can start counting profits, any suggestions please?
Maybe the BTC price will go to some high number in December but then only drop 30% or 50% or even less but, we are gradually leaving the bear market, I've was able to survive the bear market from implementing trades with tips and info from Ms. Elizabeth Rossiello.

If you do this, make sure you adjust your arbitrage parameters when your crypto is running.
Could you elaborate a bit? I don't know anything about bots yet beyond the info Max gave in the video.
@@armandd5170 you set your buy low sell high limits with arbitrage. When it's bouncing in those parameters, you make money.
So if you're between $30 and $50 your bot will trade there. If your coin goes below $30 the bot won't trade, you'll have your coins at $30. If you adjusted it to trade between $40 and $20, your bot will start trading again.
Same thing if it goes up. If you don't increase the min and max. When it hits $50 it will have sold all your coins for stable coins.
No one wants this!!!🤣 you want to keep running as the coins value increases.
Now you also don't want the spread between min and max to be too far apart, otherwise it won't trade often enough to be worth the effort.
Bottom line is, it's effective, but isn't as easy set it and forget it.
@@armandd5170 the kucoin tutorial highly suggests to start out with the spot grid AI parameters set for you. I suggest for a newbie to watch many videos and read as many tutorials on kucoin as possible. All the information is there. Its up to US to learn the details. good luck! ✌

Bots come close to the same profit I make with regular trades, after the fees. One siautaion where bots excel in my experience, is when a coin goes sideways. It makes profits arbitraging off small movements up AND down. So I could hold a coin for a week, and if the price fluctuates even just a bit, but overall moves 0% that week, I will still have a bit of profit. It also helps mitigate trades that go straight down, by at least arbitraging. When the market goes up, it doesn't seem to do any better than just holding the coin. That's ME though, they may work differently depending on market dynamics at the time. It's good for lazy day/swing traders haha. For HODLers, it's probably better just to HODL. If you watch your positions 24/7, you will also probably do bettter than the bot. Like, trying to profit from sideways movement is like pulling teeth. I'm looking forward to trying these in the next bear market.
Wouldn't transaction fees kill you if it was just going sideways?
I still come out profitable, albeit a little bit, because sideways in crypto is still wide enough gaps to overcome the fee. I think if you good some kucoin too it pays for fees at a slightly better rate.
This might be another dumb question but can you use a bot with crypto you already have? Meaning I have a ton of Shiba could I make the bot trade it up and down? Thanks for the great videos.

Yes, you choose SHIB as your source of fund instead of USDT. But if SHIB keeps going down then you end the bot, you will come out with less SHIB than you had before.

I'm wondering if one were to do a bot for say 10k and a short bot for 5k if that would be a good hedge against each other. Especially seeing as the short bot could really catch some gains with the volatility of crypto, or save from a bubble crash.

I used Spot grid Bot and used DOT that I had lying around to trade. Tomorrow if the prize of DOT shoots to the moon I can always stop the Bot and my DOT's will still be there for me to sell plus the profit right ?

@@dawkinswashere--tcg9199 depends on what your bot is trading though. I started a shib bot for $100 ...i think both simplex and kucoin take a fee when you deposit into your account. I put in 150, so i thought. when it processed, ended up being 130
how do you choose which pair to run the bot on?
Look for high volatility and slightly increasing price, then make sure it's not close to the top of a bull run make sure the fees arent siphoning your profits and then click run. Shits easy and on most pairs you dont need much money to test it cheers bro!

@@MaxMaher It has very closely matched yours. The spot grid bot can make lots of money. Especially being able to squeeze profits out of something if it is moving mostly sideways and not doing a huge pump like Shiba did. Sometimes the bot will do great but as you said, if you had just bought some of those coins and held onto them you would have had potential for some huge returns.
Ill add that if you do a smart rebalance bot and add a coin you think will have a huge pump soon, it will keep rebalancing and pour that profit into the other holdings in the bot. When you think the pump is over you can edit your holdings and remove coin that has pumped before it corrects or continue holding if you see value in the long term.

This will always work in a sideways market but not a trending market. And that's okay. Markets trade sideways 85% of the time. You can trade using bots while also trend trading manually. It's a good diverse trading approach.
uptrend works as well....downtrend you lose money

@@lj4001 Just use a totally different account for your manual trades. So open an account with say Coinbase for your buy and hold stuff. This way there will be no conflict.

Great video Max. (not sure if it is sponsored by Kucoin or not but it is a great introduction). I have done more digging and got into it thanks to you. However, does anyone know where to find more in depth analysis and tutorial for the spot trading bots (since they are the most commonly used).
For instance:
The profits made at every sells, is it kept on a side or reinvested by the bot? Is there a way to accumulate realised profit so it is not lost in case the coin value drops
Is an automated notification sent when the bot stops trading (ie because price is out of the range?)
How to secure the money invested if the price falls below the lower limit
When best to add investment (eg when the price is lower than the average of the range monitored, or higher etc....)
I think a tutorial that focuses on the spot trading bots and that covers all the different scenarios a user will encounter during the "life" of the bot will be great.
What do you all think?
PS: It has already been done then I apologize I have not found it.

I've been using trading bots and documenting my journey on my youtube channel as well.
The profits made by the bots are not reinvested: they are kept on your exchange in the form of the quote currency that you're trading. If you want to compound, technically you have to stop your bot and re-start it with more money (it's quite easy to do it so you can do it once a week or so).
If you want to avoid losing too much you can set up stop losses, however if you're trading coins that you also hodl this shouldn't be a big deal, because when the bot goes out of range below the lower end of your grid, it just means that you bought the dip and now you're holding that coin.
I would recommend starting a bot when the price action is in the middle of your range, and overall when the coin pair is trading sideways or slightly trending up.
