The first thing I could think of was "hidden misogyny masked as worship" which is why in the East one has to be careful with their approach to deity, otherwise it is just an abuse of power... the other thing that came to mind was, "is this person a historian with primary and secondary references to support their claims?" I only read historical fiction and non-fiction writers who do the footwork but then again, I think you had placed that disclaimer up front. Thank you for reading this book so I don't have to 🌸
Like Crowley, Peter Grey may have some pieces of the puzzle (for me); however, I wouldn't want to read either without your wonderful commentary, Raecine.
I’ve been a devotee of Ishtar for several years now. (Really my whole life). I’ve never read this and probably won’t, after reading reviews. I don’t acknowledge any kind of biblical reference to her. I’ve completely ignored that paradigm. I’m not interested in seeing Her through the male gaze. I don’t even want to give my outrage because that’s my sacred energy. She’s a goddess of basically everything, including love and war. She’s complex.
Not to be rude. But the abrahamic mysteries are part of the puzzle. Understanding them doesn't mean you adhere to them but having the approach you have is just as ignorant as them rejecting yours. The study for the sake of wisdom doesn't mean you accept their precincts or dogma. Don't be ignorant for the sake of ignorance.
I had this book on my wishlist, but I’m seriously reconsidering. I’m already getting mad enough with all the bullshit from men that we (women) have to deal with all the time. I was hoping this book would be more than what it seems to be, oh well… Looking forward to the rest of your review! Thanks Raecine! ❤
@joanasadowski1303 the white women progressives tells me they don't experience any oppression from anyone except Republicans tho Obama said he wouldnt codify rvw
This may be a weird comment, I don't know. Commenting in the beginning. I wasn't familiar with the book but.. I have feelings about a man writing a book about the dark feminine??
Interesting vlog. I’m always interested in your reviews, I haven’t read the book….I already have stacks of books on the backlist to catch up on. I can experience it through you😉❤️ This is a topic that I’m fascinated with and not well educated on so thank you ❤️❤️🌹
Peter Grey is sooo hit and miss or me for all the reasons you touch on. I have really enjoyed interviews with with partner, Alkistis Dimech. She is a dancer and speaks of Babalon from such an embodied space. She may not have the same skill level at writing as Peter, but her words hit closer to the mark IMO.
I’m going to wait until I hear your thoughts after reading it in its entirety before purchasing it. I have it sitting in my Amazon cart as I write this. It sounds like it might take my 57-year-young self who is no longer able to tolerate men that only think with their diccs over the edge.
As a gay man I was enchanted by Peter grey and his eyes and his mind. But tbh I have noticed he brings about his sexual kinks and excess in many of his works. He even gave a speech about blood needles, pain and pleasure. And the magical aspect of pain. It wouldn't surprise me that he had some messed up sexual stuff going on behind close doors.
not really sure how i feel about a man, particularly a cis white man, offering takes on a deity that's so important and sacred to us women, one that speaks beyond the confines of culture, race, ethnicty, etc. but oh well! ty raecine for being so insightful and majestically incendiary and sharing your takes with us, you're on point as always !! 🖤
Great video and I'm looking forward to your next section and views on the Red Goddess. I personally had a very different experience with the book and loved it! More book reviews please!
I'm not familiar with this book or its author, but I would have liked to hear that the book recognizes the Whore goddess/archetype as separate from but equal to in importance that of Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene, not reducing any of them. Understanding and making space at the table for the Whore is important and long overdue, but the other guests are still welcome. Women vary so much, just as goddesses do, and this is beautiful.
Raecine book vlog/reviews, hell yh im here for more of this 🎉❤ Also does this author not know that Ishtar began as a male presenting deity from Akkad, and then merged with Inanna??? She is divine masculine incarnate, so basically androgynous in form, she also lead cults where the practice of cross dressing (basically gender fluidity) was practiced. Defo should not be focusing just on the male and femalw union...so much more to explore of her energy.
Since I put some negativity out there I’m balancing it with some sacred (Raecine) feminine that popped up in my feed! 🙌🏻🫶✌️😂 first.. Awww this was such an adorable video, second I love the Bohemian Gothic deck so it cheered me right up! 8 years ago!! So grateful you’ve continued on . 🙏🏻💜🫶🌙😉. th-cam.com/video/x19wWQdjbMs/w-d-xo.html

Share your sentiments ❤ but have the book and enjoyed it
Your assessment is dead on, my dear. Absolutely incendiary! 🖤
You know I totally stole that from you, with deepest love and admiration- it’s fitting for this work as well. 🖤❤️🖤
The plot thickens… 😅 looking forward to your full review.

So you ignore her husband she loves and her ex lovers
The Love Witch has been my comfort movie since I first saw it! I can't tell you how many times I've watched that movie haha! It's so damn good!

What do yiu deal with? if you're Mexican or black no need to explain
@@Jesusdamannotgod You think only women with specific ethnicities experience misogyny?
@@joanasadowski1303 I'm told by progressives that white women don't struggle...are they wrong???

I loved hearing your honest thoughts, Raecine. :)
Thank you so much for this review!!! You've given me a lot to think about... and brought some of my present thoughts into focus,

Thank you R! Nailed it.
Thanks I will pass. Thank you for sharing
What’s the tapping noise in the video? It’s a bit spooky lol 😂
Curious what you would think of the Babalon info written by Dr Georgia van Raalte. Keep up the critical thinking and commenting. Thank you.

I loved his book on Lucifer... but this one sounds like a trash fire. I'm gonna wait for your full review :)
