It has a detrimental effect on the entire business, burns crowds out, makes big moves unimportant and so you never can understand what's going to finish a match.

With Vince releasing all these indy darlings and getting rid of that old Golden era of nxt they're trying to step away from that, they gave the smark fans what they wanted and the fans went away so now it's back to basics with guys like theory and breaker on the rise!

If they weren't doing Superkicks as their go-to moves, I feel that people wouldn't get so upset about the Bucks' matches. Plain and simple, they do them because they look cool, and their Superkicks aren't treated as anything more than simple, cool-looking moves, similarly to how dropkicks were used up until the late-80s/early-90s. Sure, if the Superkick was supposed to be their finisher and they were doing a dozen each match, then that'd be a cause for concern, but it isn't, so I don't see what the big deal is.
Correction: I do see what the big deal is. HBK did a Superkick. That's it. I love Shawn Michaels, but just because he did a move back in the day doesn't mean other people can't do it under different contexts.

I already mentioned dropkicks, which were seen on the same level back in the pre-TV days, but what about DDTs, top rope moves, or dives? Those and more are all commonplace today, but at one point were the absolute shit, and nobody bats an eye. Point is, this all comes down to double standards, and it's very silly.

I haven’t watched pro wrestling since WCW & ECW got bought out. The Young Bucks brought me back. I love seeing all the super kicks.. but I don’t expect finishes from them because that’s not really their finisher.

I tried so hard to like these dudes and to their credit some of the serious matches in NJPW they had with teams like Ropungi Vice were cool. The issue is every match is the same.

The Young Bucks are absolutely awful, probably the worst tag team currently active, but wasn't Shawn Michaels a big influence behind the scene before NXT 2.0? the "gold and black" NXT had just as bad of an overused superkick problem, not just superkicks, but also the Canadian Destroyer, top rope moves, dives to the outside, use of weapons, hell some of this stuff is a problem on the main roster in WWE, not just NXT or AEW.
The Young Bucks have pretty much become the STYX of pro wrestling...that one act that critics are required to hate.
I consider them the Poison (the band) of pro wrestling posers no substance just stick your face in front of the cameras

I stopped in 2001/02 and AEW brought my love of wrestling back. My wife even watches and she hates wrestling growing up. Times change with every Industry and this is one of the ways it does that.

My main problem with the Bucks is that almost nothing about them is original material. Their pose, all the superkick spamming, the dives, the flips, the moonsaults, etc. They stole all that and more from Shawn Michaels and The Hardys.

Meanwhile Jake Roberts applied a beautiful logic on the topic. The reason why his finishing move (DDT) is now done as a transitional move and people barely go for the pin afterwards, is because no one can do it like he can. If Jake was the one to hit it, you would not get up.
I feel the same way about Young Bucks' superkicks vs. Shawn's superkick. If Shawn does it, you're done or it's at least a false finish. If the Bucks do it, you kneel down or more easily retaliate. It's almost as if less force is applied or something.
that's... dumb lol. as if there's some magical secret technique that only one person could ever know. if jake can do it, anyone his size and strength should be able to as well. this is just an excuse for poor psychology.
i’ve always thought about it that way. i just apply the same logic whenever a wrestler steals their opponent’s wrestling move. the commentators are always like “is he gonna beat him with his own move?” and it never happens. however, i don’t like how the canadian destroyer is a transitional move now, if not, at the very least, the move that shifts the match into high gear.
@@elusana Oh yeah, that's a terrible injustice towards the move and its impactful look, it should always result in a pin attempt at least. One of my biggest concerns is how wrestlers try to come up with new moves and I'm always worried that they hurt themselves. I saw a video where a guy missed a shooting star legdrop from the top rope, the crowd barely reacted, but apparently that was his finisher. And all I can think of is how sorry I feel for his ass.

Can't have high spots in every match. The thing that put the industry on the map, was athletic story telling with a proper build up. Now people expect 'devastating finisher' type moves, to be used multiple times in a match. So what's gonna be the next level of 'evolution'? A 450 flip off of the rafters into a spinning super kick? More is definitely not better.

Curb stomp has a couple to 3 seconds before a cover is made.
The Fiend character uses those seconds to recover plus the 2 count.
Jackhammer has no delayed seconds because the pinning combination is instant upon the landing impact.
Its only 3 seconds that began instantly as opposed to the 6 seconds following the curb stomps.

Young Bucks matches have always been bad. I'll never understand, in a professional sport that simulates real fighting, why you would clear choreographed spots. Like, yeah there's always going to be a spot or two in a match that doesn't go so great, but whoever told Matt and Nick that doing tumbling into spin kicks looks good needs to be barred from working in wrestling.
The Young Bucks are garbage, old, unimpressive workers that simply cannot, and will not wrestle a convincing match.
I love AEW but the criticism of the Young Bucks is merited honestly. Their matches are not very interesting to watch with all the silliness and superkicks.

The bucks and the usos are unwatchable because it’s nothing but super kicks. I one time tried to count the super kicks in an USO match. I swear on everything I stopped counting at 13. They didnt stop at 13 like I did tho. The Bucks are even worse, because when they aren’t stealing the super kick. They are stealing the Destroyer. When they arent stealing moves they steal taunts from the NWO. Both teams are hot garbage all around.

I’ve met Matt and Nick on several occasions and honestly guys they have always been doing these spots and gimmicks in tribute to the greats. Were they stealing the too sweet? Sure but they also hit every fan in the crowd with one when they passed by. Bullet club gave some of us those NWO vibes even if it were a brief time. These are good dudes and they’ve done enough for pro wrestling in my book.
If we're gonna truly talk psychology, 10 superkicks is better than one. Its not a strong move at all, and was a bad finisher. HBK's punches & kicks akeays looked phoney.
Truthfully the young bucks are very talented they got good moves but to me there alittle overrated an they use the super kick way to much but I also don't like that Kevin Owens new finisher is the Stone Cold Stunner an I didn't like when Seth Rollins was doing the pedigree I kind got use to Roman Reigns in the spear but didn't like it at first but I like his Superman punch

If I'm HBK, I'd hate those little twerps too. I'm not going to pretend to be a Shawn Michaels fan, but the guy understood psychology to a large extent and he understood that finishing moves are protected moves. Shawn's was the superkick. These kids go out there and make it look it performance art and hardly anyone gets pinned by them anymore, so they just exposed that the kick itself isn't as devastating as it was made out to be. I'd be furious. They just made a mockery of wrestling and of everything Shawn Michaels did in the ring. I'd be furious. They bury him every time they do that choreographed nonsense. Lay it in, HBK. Everyone does ddts and stunners and cutters when you have no sellers receiving these move it takes the strength away from the move in a sense.
