    Stunning watch! If the hesalite was swapped for sapphire I would have this in my collection in a shot

    • @anthonysmith2982
      @anthonysmith2982 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I love the Hesalite. The biggest problem with this watch is the 'scratch proof coating' they put on top of the Hesalite.
      It means that you can't use Polywatch to buff the scratches out.
      You can get the coating buffed of the crystal by a watchmaker, which is exactly what I'll do as soon as it picks up the scuffs and scratches to warrant it. It was a frickin' idiotic idea to put that coating on... But the warmth and distortion of that box domed acrylic is just magic.

      @@anthonysmith2982 agree its a give and take situation, I would like a sapphire that has same property as hesalite as the warm retro feel.

      @@wonjunjung395
      I know that this question isn't directed at me, but I'm going to respond anyway.
      The 2020 variant just doesn't do it for me. I don't like the colours.
      If the 2018 version didn't have this ridiculous 'scratch resistant' coating on the Hesalite, I'd buy it over sapphire, every day of the week, I love acrylic!, and seek it out whenever I can.
      And wouldn't you know it?!, in 5 years, the ᴏɴʟʏ other time I've ever had to get the Polywatch out (other than to polish a crystal of a newly purchased vintage piece) was to fix a scratch on an ᴜɴᴄᴏᴀᴛᴇᴅ piece of acrylic on a cheap ST1901 powered panda chronograph about 6 months ago! Yet I scuff this piece - the only one I can't fix myself - within weeks of ownership! 😂
      But it is what it is: it's not particularly noticeable and it is fixable.
      I probably would buy this particular watch with sapphire over this coated acrylic if I could, providing it's a ɢᴏᴏᴅ piece sapphire...
      But I doubt I'll ever be rid of my love of acrylic!

  • @Vow247
    @Vow247 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I owned this watch and really enjoyed it. I ended up picking up a scratch on the hesalite, and that killed my enjoyment. I sold it shortly after that.
    For a while I regretted selling it, and considered buying it back.
    Eventually I picked up my Oris Divers 65, and I’m really happy with that.
    I still have fond memories of the Certina, but no longer have an urge to rebuy.

    While I've never owned a Certina, they hold a place in my heart. My dad has owned a gold mechanical one since 1970. It was his sole daily watch pretty much until the early 2000s. He only retired it recently when the case cracked (the movement is still going).. With it's creamy white dail and gold hands and imdexes, it always looked a bit old fashioned. But now with so many vintage inspired watches, I'd love to be able to find a way to fix the case for him.

    Congrats & happy birthday Man.
    You obviously have a ᴠᴇʀʏ cool GF!
    I associate the DS PH200M with your channel; I'd bought mine - ᴇxᴀᴄᴛʟᴛʏ the same as this one - but hadn't received it yet... I think. And I found your channel by looking for reviews of the watch.
    I scratched my crystal within about a week of owning it too! I was shattered, until I remembered that the ᴠᴇʀʏ ʀᴇᴀsᴏɴ I went for the 2018 acrylic/Hesalite version was so it would show its age. Sapphire and ceramic is great, but it's not gonna patina anything like pre 90's watches do.
    I can't ever see myself selling this watch. I ʟᴏᴠᴇ it. And having handled most of its competitors - they're all great watches - especially the Oris Divers 65 and the Mido Ocean Star Decompression Diver - none of them speak to me like the PH200M does.
    A true enthusiasts watch. And a great one.
    Enjoy it again bud!... and don't flip it this time!

      You really should man.
      If you have the wrist for that 52mm wing span you really can't do better.
      Like Andrei said, its competitors are all in the $1200 - $2000 price point and you can get this for >$700. It's an incredible amount of watch for the money. Maybe the Oris Divers 65 and Rado Capt Cook have a better build quality, but the Squale, Yema and Seiko, although really good pieces don't compare to the Certina. The Doxa and Mido do, but you have to pay for it.
      Seriously. I can't enough good things about this watch.

    • @TheVuducha
      @TheVuducha 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonysmith2982 Now that you mention it, I'm a bit afraid of that 52mm. My daily is a Breitling Colt 41mm that is only 50mm, and i believe this is the max I can pull off without being too much. Will do further research.

    • @anthonysmith2982
      @anthonysmith2982 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. It wears big. I've got tree trunk wrists so I'm fine. It does have a slight down turn on the lugs - it's not a really flat 'skin-diver' type case, but the lugs are deceptively long cos of how the bezel overhangs the case. Be careful man & best of luck.

    Shit... i really like hesalite version more than saphire, due to it's heavily domed shape, but hearing you and reading in comments about scratches i'm not sure :-( Had an Oris Diver 65 with green dial, got bored with it and sold it and now i'm missing a domed glass, but Oris had domed saphire, not hesalite, so now i'm worried. And to be honest 2020 version with saphire, barely domed glass and rounded bezel has lost it's character a bit in my opinion. But then maybe i should stop worrying about scratches and just use the watch :-)
