I live in rural south central Texas and I was walking in front of my house during the afternoon when a large coyote appeared. My collie tried to chase her away, but the coyote went after her. I got Bonnie inside the house, and the coyote didn't leave. I banged on a pot, and the coyote didn't leave. I yelled and threw rocks, and still the coyote didn't go. So I went inside, got my Ruger .357 revolver, and went out to face her. I told her I'm going to give you one warning, and shot at her paws. No response. So then I took aim, and she started to slowly trot off, turned, gave me a look, and left. That was one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had. I doubt she was rabid; she just had no fear, but I warned my neighbors nevertheless. Police won't come out because my ranch is a mile outside their jurisdiction.
