Brian Hitch I was public schooled and had all that awesome “experience.” Suffice it to say, I’m homeschooling my children now BECAUSE I went through public school.
I almost hate when people find out I’m homeschooled simply for the fact that from that moment on they don’t want to talk about anything else. Instead of talking about activities we enjoy, or new movies, or anything, it turns into a debate about homeschool. If not a debate, I have to at least explain how homeschool works... for the thousandth time. Any other homeschoolers experience the same? Edit: Please don't get me wrong, I am very thankful to be homeschooled and I don't exactly mind explaining - It's just that it gets repetitive and frustrating having nearly the same conversation with so many people, that's all.
Yes. People ask me.... how to you learn?..... what books do you use?.... is there a homeschool curriculum? I don't want to talk about all the books I use for class.
I find it hilarious the amount of times I get curious questions about homeschooling. "How do you socialize with other teens?" is a favorite. But I'm not going to act like a victim. They're not hurting me. I could be in a much, much worse situation that would make people not want to associate with me. I've been blessed
Yeah, the most common question I get is "Do you even like homeschooling?" Or "If you had the chance, would you go to public school?" I do sports with public schoolers, so I get it ALL the time! Also since my personality is just kinda shy anyway, I get called "The quiet girl" even though I try to talk a lot with them. I always struggle with what to talk about with public schoolers because everything they talk about is about people I don't know or school assignments that I'm not in sooooo yeah IDK...Any public schoolers out there please tell me what to talk about with ya'll.
I think homeschoolers have a less influenced personality and thus are nicer. Public scholers are more concerned about fitting in and being with some people just not to be alone and bullied. And a great percentage of public schoollers have to go through anxiety due to peer pressure. Let me know the positive of public school even though I was public schooled
I find it hilarious that Public Schoolers, Private schoolers, and anyone else who wasn’t homeschooled are quick to assume that we were so sheltered, we never saw another person outside our family till we were 18
Yessss! It’s so annoying! A girl told me a couple of weeks ago that I don’t go out in public much. And how much are you out in public? You sit in a classroom all day!
Ethan Sean whenever people make comments about me being sheltered this is what I say. “...and that’s the exact reason my parents started homeschooling me. So I could never be around other kids. Now excuse me while I go get locked in my basement for another six years...”

I do, because I take mostly honors and AP, and all the teachers that teach those classes (most of them anyway) know what they're doing. But it is entirely possible to not learn anything at all in a classroom except how to look innocent.

TheMightyPancake it’s an expensive dance pretty much and usually exclusive to jr’s and sr’s. Sometimes there’s dinner. Usually there’s finger food like fruit and chocolate. People are usually excited about it because if you’re a jr is saying goodbye to sr’s and hello to sr year and if you’re a sr it’s usually the last big event before graduation.
Even if one homeschool prom turns out to be super awkward, which it hardly ever is, I still have, like, five other options before the end of the school year lol
If you think about it, Blimey Cow kinda just called himself a pot smoking-, because he responded to the public schooler's question, by saying "mmmm", and after saying that, he said "says the pot smoking-". Usually, when people answer a question, sometimes, people respond back by using the "says the - " method against the person who answered their question. Just a thought.

Their Creation Apologetics corse is amazing, and my brother really enjoys their typing class!!! Would 10 out of 10 recommend. And also as someone who wants to teach preschool one day, the preschool classes they offer are great!!!
Lol the part where people ask about missing the “high school experience” is so accurate I laughed so hard because that response is almost exactly what goes through my mind when they ask 😂
True, I forgot just how big and overwhelming public school is. Luckily I play sports for a Christian private school now, much better than the experience I had with public school kids...
My homeschool group has a banquet for the high schoolers and there is dancing and well, a banquet! ( and there are a lot of homeschool cross country teams)
2:38 I go to public school and I’ve had classes 4 tines that size. To be honest, I envy online schoolers and homeschoolers because they have more time to do things they struggle or really excel in rather than being held back or not understanding the material.
Haha, the Prom question is so true, every homeschooler has been asked that. I personally have never gone to a prom and I don’t and never will have any interest in it. But everyone who asks says, “but you don’t have prom!” Even if I was interested, there are 20 homeschool proms I could go to this weekend! Lol
Can you do one for the questions/"compliments" that homeschool parent-teachers get that make you internally roll your eyes? For example: "You're sooooo patient!" (implying kids are horrible) or "How will you teach Algebra?" or "I could *never* do that!" or "Don't you feel like you're denying your children exposure to real life?" or just the blank stare/"good for you!" or something about the SATs/getting kids into college?
There was one time I was trying to explain to someone what homeschooling is and try just stopped and said, "Wait... So... It's like... SCHOOL... at HOME????"
I wasn't homeschooled, but I wish I had been. My school years are long behind me. I have been out of school for 10 years now. Should I ever have children of my own in the future, they will be homeschooled.
I work in retail. Once I was ringing a customer out and it came up that she was a teacher. Me: "Oh cool, what school do you teach at?" Her: "blah blah school name" Me: "Is that an elementary school?" Her: "It's a high school 😒" Me: "Oh I'm sorry 🙃, I was homeschooled so I don't know many of the schools around here. I tend to get some mixed up." Her: "Did you even graduate?..? 🤨" Me: "..... Yes, ma'am. I did." Like you do realize the drop out rate for public schools is a thousand times higher than for home schools, right? Just because I'm young, working retail, and was homeschooled doesn't mean I'm too dumb to do anything else with my life. But thanks for your "concern".
Well that pretty much sums up what people have asked or seem to wonder about me because I'm home schooled. I feel like people don't think I'm as educated as them... Also with the "You're missing out on the high-school experience" I totally agree. What experience? Getting bullied, having rumors spread around about you? Constant judgement? Bad peer pressure? NooOOooOoo thank you.
I used to be homeschooled. Watching these makes me wish I still was. I just remember going to the grocery store with my mom before 3 and the cash register lady low-key judging us.
TWENTY-ONE PILOTS YAAAASSS!!! For a long time I wished I was homeschooled. 1. I had no friends anyways and 2. I have learning disabilities, so it would’ve saved me a looooooot of anxiety and emotional pain to go at my own pace. But then I switched schools and I graduated with an amazing friend group that I still hang out with today... one of the two things that made highschool bearable... I’m so glad I graduated.
I always found homeschoolers were calmer than people in public school, so you're cool. And the high school experience on TV is not anywhere near the real thing, if you keep to your morals. Didn't have lockers, bullies learned to not mess with me (it was more like clicks than established bullies in the school anyway), sports and clubs were optional (and often laid back for clubs), and a lot of it was boring. Maybe it was just my region, but don't believe what you see on tv. Classroom size = 25-30 students.
This was my life!!! I was a semi- sheltered homeschooler k - 12 (scores an 11 on your sheltered quiz 😂) Now I get to see how my mom felt as a home schooling mom as my husband and I homeschool our kids! It’s crazy the things people ask us ALL THE TIME!!!
Never been to a public school in my life (on a school day) The only time I was in a public school was on a Saturday. I'll have to later this year for PSAT, though
I was homeschooled for a bit and one day a door to door salesman came by our house and saw us riding bikes on the street. He firmly talked to our mother that we weren't learning anything...
yeah my mom wont let me go to the store by myself during school hours cuz then apparently the police are gonna ask me why i skipped school or something
@@jacintahabisohn4605 Sometimes I run into the store to grab something for my mom and people are always stopping me and asking "Shouldn't you be in school!?"
When you're waiting for a Blimey Cow video and you almost fall asleep then it comes and you are the top 50 to comment then you go to actually watch video after you commented and it's been removed then you do fall asleep and when they reload it you are too late.
One time I was talking with some people (they know my family's homeschooled) and we got into the conversation of my older brother (he's in his freshman year at a community college even though he's only 15.) Anyway we were talking about him then someone else came up and was like "Wait! Your brother got into college at 15!" And the previous person who I was talking with was like "Yeah, they're _homeschooled_ so I guess they're really smart or something." And to a normal person that would seen like a compliment, but the way that she said homeschooled made it sound like we were a bunch of loser's who were stupid. Like wth
“School is used to get a job - You already have one it’s like skipping a step.” I love that movie lol - it comes to my mind everytime someone asks me something like that.
Yeah. And I got my first Job at 12!! My mom runs a piano studio And I started helping with some of the preschoolers and now I teach most of our preschool and early elementary kiddos!! I’m 16 btw.
@@hello-ur5mb How cool! I know your comment is old... but I wanted to reply anyway. I got into college last semester at 14! It's absolutely amazing! And I love to see the shock on people's faces when I tell them I'm in college at 15.
If anything, I was mocked for going to public school- which is absurd. Because I learn better in a group setting, and enjoy the engagement I get from hearing from hundreds of different perspectives and the stimulation and structure public school offered me, it means I'm not as cultured or Christian as people who homeschooled? It was only the Homeschoolers™ who would be pretentious though; most of my friends were homeschooled, or would do a combo of public school and homeschool...and it wasn't weird that I went to classes at a public school. Some of my homeschool friends got crazy cool scholarships, are getting their masters, are bush pilot, or engineers in the Navy...and some of them don't even have GEDs and can't hold a job because they weren't taught to get up to an alarm. It's not so much a 'where did you go to school' as a 'are you a competent human being' thing for me; I have a hard time respecting people who use schooling of any sort to avoid growing up.
Nice video! This helps a lot... About prom, though, when I was homeschooled in the State of California (later our family moved) they had an annual "formal" event. Most of my time was spent chucking beach balls at whoever started dancing whenever I went to one, so... yeah it was pretty great.
Yaaaaaaass! Thank you, Jordan!! I've needed this for so long! LOL!! Could you make a video explaining what a co-op is? I have the hardest time explaining that to people without them looking at me like I'm *gasp* weird!
honestly whenever they ask me questions like that, I feel like asking them what do they do at school? I mean they must be sooooo spoilt, right!? they must've wasted so much time doing all that crap etc. Maybe I should just rub it in that they don't get to walk around the neighbourood at 10:30 am and should take it as a personal privilege that I don't get those memes on instagram about all of the issues in school... because as a homeschooler I have none of them!
"How are you enjoying your state-run education?" Me=dying with laughter. And yes, everyone who is not homeschooled is automatically a public-schooler. Private and charter schools are still public schools, because they're run by the public authorities, a.k.a. state government. Boom.
In the US, charter schools may be funded by tax dollars (Though, compared to public schools, they have more autonomy). Private schools are completely separate. Their scholars Must have their education paid by an outside entity. Saying that the public authorities run a private school Is like saying they run a private business. It's not factual.
Depends on how you think about it. In the US, we the people are the government, as stated in the Constitution. So since we the people are part of the government, then we run all forms of education in the US, just in different ways. So in a sense, what I said was true.
Perspective perhaps, but opinion? Not at all. You set the criteria, but the categories do not fall Within them the way you insinuated they would. Consequently, your stereotyping conclusion was not good. If you are really as witty as you thought you were when you first wrote, You'd recognize the fallacy in your reasoning and take note That grouping all private education recipients With those from the public sector is simply ridiculous.
Hey I was a homeschooled for 6.5 year's and homeschooling is really great. I only go to school because I moved to a small town and the school is pretty good. Also they can help me in some areas.
the other night at youth group these girls were talking about their shower schedules (i don’t remember why lol) and i was in the middle of adding to the conversation and explaining how i prefer morning showers when one of them goes “um..you don’t need to take a shower. you’re homeschooled.” SHE WAS SERIOUS
As a public schooler, I have met many homeschoolers who have treated me like Big Head Kid’s demonstration for going to public school...! It is rude on both ends lol
In fairness, as someone who's currently in public high school, there's a lot of fun to be had if you're willing and a lot of hilarious moments come from the sheer insanity of your situation. So like, the experience is interesting but I think you're not missing _too_ much. Maybe extracurriculars but you can always find some outside of school sports league or a community music school or something like that.
When I see the notification that Blimey Cow uploaded... I stop everything (including my school *I am homeschooled*) to watch the best creator on TH-cam. 😁
I was homeschooled in kindergarten, after that my mom couldn't handle homeschooling, lol. I've been in private school other than that all my life, even into college, but I know a ton of homeschoolers and I definitely agree with the sentiments in this video...just be kind to people and don't make assumptions. :P
Public high school junior and hardcore band geek here One of my friends is homeschooled, she takes music classes at our high school. She's actually pretty cool. Dances in general kind of lame, after prom is lit, but only if you're tight with your friends. I went to prom last year with some of my friends (all juniors and seniors can go, freshmen and sophomores have to be accompanied by an upperclassmen, which is what I did) and I did have fun, but I don't remember the dance at all. I really only remember sitting outside the venue by the firepit. I went to homecoming my freshman year, haven't been since and don't want to go again. Last year and this year the homecoming dance has been on the same day as one of our marching band competitions, and I honestly prefer going to that than the dance. Plus, this year some of the freshmen are planning a "band-coming" as in, homecoming just for the band, which will probably end up being better than normal homecoming. As for the high school experience, it really is great, but only if you find your clique. I've been in marching band since freshman year, so I'm pretty tight with almost everyone in the band. Those people are the people that I spend all my time with, all my best friends are in band, and playing in band is my release and the reason I stay sane. I was talking to one of my freshman friends today and she said that she enjoyed high school more than middle school, and that's mostly because of band. (Granted our high school also gives a lot of freedom, but I don't know about other places) That's my take. Tl;dr, I agree with a lot of your points
Dude. Homeschool parties/(proms) are awesome. You get all the snacks you want, you’ll probably play Wii Sports, if there’s any dancing it’s probably just Fortnite, and heck yes Twenty One Pilots.
"There's lots of Twenty One Pilots played..." MOM I'M GOING TO HOMESCHOOL PROM. ... NO I DON'T CARE IF I'M NOT A HOMESCHOOLER THEY PLAY TWENTY ONE PILOTS SO SCREW PUBLIC SCHOOL ALL THEY PLAY IS THE SAME SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN

@@anniehendrix2623 That's how I'd like mine to be as well!
Yep!
Lol the part where people ask about missing the “high school experience” is so accurate I laughed so hard because that response is almost exactly what goes through my mind when they ask 😂
"6. what about sports?"
my friend who goes to school asked me where i learn to drive cuz im homeschooled and i dont learn it at school
What school teaches you how to drive
Since when can you learn to drive at school?
i dont know. apparently you can get your permit there, BORC
"There's lots of twenty one pilots played"
I mean he's not wrong 😂😂
Twenty Paphonies dude, you watch Blimey Cow. I’ve seen you every where.
Now I'm wishing I hadn't missed homeschool prom! although I didn't become a TOP fan till like, my last year of highschool...
And MCR
Do I have friends!?!?! Yes, and more than the 8 other people your age you see all day every day 😂😂
True, I forgot just how big and overwhelming public school is. Luckily I play sports for a Christian private school now, much better than the experience I had with public school kids...
My biggest pet peeve is when people say I don’t go to “real school” 🙄 It honestly triggers me so much
I know right?
Whenever someone says, "You're homeschooled? You suck!" I'm like "well at least my parents want me to be around them" LOL
“8 other kids in my class...” Lol, there’s 30 kids total in my Algebra class.
Normal is just a setting on the washing machine. :)
Lol
Every American homeschooler that is
Thats awesome 😂
THATS SO TRUE THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT
@@chrisamador1216
Lol no problem 😂
Can you do one for the questions/"compliments" that homeschool parent-teachers get that make you internally roll your eyes?
For example: "You're sooooo patient!" (implying kids are horrible) or "How will you teach Algebra?" or "I could *never* do that!" or "Don't you feel like you're denying your children exposure to real life?" or just the blank stare/"good for you!" or something about the SATs/getting kids into college?
There was one time I was trying to explain to someone what homeschooling is and try just stopped and said, "Wait... So... It's like... SCHOOL... at HOME????"
Loving Jordan's tan lines where he normally wears a watch, I have them too! :D
0:53 I actually get treated like this a lot from homeschool parents since I’m public schooled
I wasn't homeschooled, but I wish I had been. My school years are long behind me. I have been out of school for 10 years now.
Should I ever have children of my own in the future, they will be homeschooled.

Very relatable you guys! Thanks for the video Jordan and Josh!
I didn't get to watch it in time so I thought I wouldn't be able to watch blimey cow this week 😭 but I'm happy now 😄
I work in retail.
Once I was ringing a customer out and it came up that she was a teacher.
Me: "Oh cool, what school do you teach at?"
Her: "blah blah school name"
Me: "Is that an elementary school?"
Her: "It's a high school 😒"
Me: "Oh I'm sorry 🙃, I was homeschooled so I don't know many of the schools around here. I tend to get some mixed up."
Her: "Did you even graduate?..? 🤨"
Me: "..... Yes, ma'am. I did."
Like you do realize the drop out rate for public schools is a thousand times higher than for home schools, right? Just because I'm young, working retail, and was homeschooled doesn't mean I'm too dumb to do anything else with my life. But thanks for your "concern".
I'm really shocked, as I have thought about all the come backs I could've made to them, but you just made them even better
I am homeschooled, and a missionary kid, I can sooooo relate to this video. Especially number 8 lol, thanks Bro...
I was worried this wouldnt be put back up!
I was homeschooled for a bit and one day a door to door salesman came by our house and saw us riding bikes on the street. He firmly talked to our mother that we weren't learning anything...
Lol that's why our mom won't let us go outside during "school hours"
yeah my mom wont let me go to the store by myself during school hours cuz then apparently the police are gonna ask me why i skipped school or something
@@jacintahabisohn4605 Sometimes I run into the store to grab something for my mom and people are always stopping me and asking "Shouldn't you be in school!?"
This is so accurate! The stereotypes are so annoying but Blimeycow helps me laugh at them!
My suburban hometown public school district is so great that not a single kid at my church is homeschooled
I'm homeschooled and I get told/asked these things ALL THE TIME!
In my area I use homeschooling to brag 😅 everyone that finds out I was homeschooled usually reacts with ‘omg really I wish I was homeschooled!’
I generally find that I get that initial reaction when I tell people, but once I talk to them more the judgemental stereotypes come out 😂
Hands down the most underrated channel on TH-cam😣 btw so relatable
So glad you guys have over half a million subscribers! You so deserve it. Keep up the great work!
I have no need to defend homeschooling. I'm in uni now, and I still OWN it.
Ones I walked by a group of public schoolers one said to me “ so your homeschooled”
So I replied “ your go to public school??!!!!”
When you're waiting for a Blimey Cow video and you almost fall asleep then it comes and you are the top 50 to comment then you go to actually watch video after you commented and it's been removed then you do fall asleep and when they reload it you are too late.
Saw this earlier before it was made private.
Oh so _that's_ why I get some notifications twice.
Nick Graham why’d they private it?
Public schooler- "are you actually getting an education??"
Me- ... You do realize I have a very successful job right?
I actually got my first job at 16. People couldn't believe it
One time I was talking with some people (they know my family's homeschooled) and we got into the conversation of my older brother (he's in his freshman year at a community college even though he's only 15.) Anyway we were talking about him then someone else came up and was like "Wait! Like wth
“School is used to get a job -
You already have one it’s like skipping a step.” I love that movie lol - it comes to my mind everytime someone asks me something like that.
Yeah. And I got my first Job at 12!! My mom runs a piano studio
And I started helping with some of the preschoolers and now I teach most of our preschool and early elementary kiddos!! I’m 16 btw.
@@hello-ur5mb How cool! I know your comment is old... but I wanted to reply anyway. I got into college last semester at 14! It's absolutely amazing! And I love to see the shock on people's faces when I tell them I'm in college at 15.
I was never homeschooled. But I enjoy your videos about homeschool.
Lol, I was public schooled in a small town, and I never had a class less than 15 people
If anything, I was mocked for going to public school- which is absurd.
I went to private school for a short amount of time, so I don’t know if that counts, but it was NOTHING like how movies make it look!
Amen so much!!!!!! Been homeschooled all my life and have had those questions at least once a day!!!!
honestly whenever they ask me questions like that, I feel like asking them what do they do at school? I mean they must be sooooo spoilt, right!? they must've wasted so much time doing all that crap etc. Maybe I should just rub it in that they don't get to walk around the neighbourood at 10:30 am and should take it as a personal privilege that I don't get those memes on instagram about all of the issues in school... because as a homeschooler I have none of them!
Each time I tell someone I'm homeschool they say "oh..."
"How are you enjoying your state-run education?" Me=dying with laughter. And yes, everyone who is not homeschooled is automatically a public-schooler. Private and charter schools are still public schools, because they're run by the public authorities, a.k.a. state government. Boom.
In the US, charter schools may be funded by tax dollars
(Though, compared to public schools, they have more autonomy).
Private schools are completely separate. Their scholars
Must have their education paid by an outside entity.
Saying that the public authorities run a private school
Is like saying they run a private business. It's not factual.
Depends on how you think about it. In the US, we the people are the government, as stated in the Constitution. So since we the people are part of the government, then we run all forms of education in the US, just in different ways. So in a sense, what I said was true.
By that logic, homeschooling also fits.
Therefore, what you said is still erroneous.
I suppose it's all a matter of perspective and opinion. I wonder what the Taylors think?
Perspective perhaps, but opinion? Not at all.
You set the criteria, but the categories do not fall
Within them the way you insinuated they would.
Consequently, your stereotyping conclusion was not good.
If you are really as witty as you thought you were when you first wrote,
You'd recognize the fallacy in your reasoning and take note
That grouping all private education recipients
With those from the public sector is simply ridiculous.
I remember when I was homeschooled, everyone was just jealous of me. It was interesting
my best friend Sebastian is a homeschooler (and so am i) told me about this Chanel and im realy enjoying it
Hey I was a homeschooled for 6.5 year's and homeschooling is really great. I only go to school because I moved to a small town and the school is pretty good. Also they can help me in some areas.
THIS WHOLE VIDEO IS SUCH A MOOD.
the other night at youth group these girls were talking about their shower schedules (i don’t remember why lol) and i was in the middle of adding to the conversation and explaining how i prefer morning showers when one of them goes “um..you don’t need to take a shower. you’re homeschooled.”
SHE WAS SERIOUS
As a public schooler, I have met many homeschoolers who have treated me like Big Head Kid’s demonstration for going to public school...! It is rude on both ends lol
In fairness, as someone who's currently in public high school, there's a lot of fun to be had if you're willing and a lot of hilarious moments come from the sheer insanity of your situation. So like, the experience is interesting but I think you're not missing _too_ much. Maybe extracurriculars but you can always find some outside of school sports league or a community music school or something like that.
Glad you are having fun at public school and able to laugh at crazy situations! Life is a lot easier if you can.
does anybody notice that his black pants blend in so well that he looks like he's floating?
This is how many homeschoolers do treat kids in public school.
When I see the notification that Blimey Cow uploaded... I stop everything (including my school *I am homeschooled*) to watch the best creator on TH-cam. 😁
Lol! Loved this vid. But hey Jordan, u and Josh should make a testimony video! It'd be more serious, but super encouraging!
4:27 guyssss they deleted and re uploaded because they said "homeschoolteachers.com" in the first vid ... and I made a comment about it too wow lol 😂
It would be quite embarrassing, I think,
To misquote a sponsor's website link.
I was homeschooled in kindergarten, after that my mom couldn't handle homeschooling, lol. I've been in private school other than that all my life, even into college, but I know a ton of homeschoolers and I definitely agree with the sentiments in this video...just be kind to people and don't make assumptions. :P
Public high school junior and hardcore band geek here
One of my friends is homeschooled, she takes music classes at our high school.
(Granted our high school also gives a lot of freedom, but I don't know about other places)
That's my take. Tl;dr, I agree with a lot of your points
Public school high school is like the movies but 10 times worse...but it depends on the school.
I appreciate Josh fact checking Jordan for us. He's a true hero.
Dude. Homeschool parties/(proms) are awesome. You get all the snacks you want, you’ll probably play Wii Sports, if there’s any dancing it’s probably just Fortnite, and heck yes Twenty One Pilots.
"There's lots of Twenty One Pilots played..."
MOM I'M GOING TO HOMESCHOOL PROM.
...
NO I DON'T CARE IF I'M NOT A HOMESCHOOLER THEY PLAY TWENTY ONE PILOTS SO SCREW PUBLIC SCHOOL ALL THEY PLAY IS THE SAME SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN
