I was JUST adding the Code R's to my shopping cart when your video popped up! Code RSC's are pretty much top of the line so you shouldn't have any issues unless you just don't like the feel of SRAM brakes. Personally, I like the modulation so I'm sticking with SRAM. I've only run into serious brake fade with the Level T's that came on my 2018 EX 7 on REALLY long descents and at Mountain Creek so I'm thinking the Code R's will be enough for me.
Did you change the discs or stick with what came on your bike?

No same disks but I adjusted the brakes to my personal preference, they have two knobs, one for modulation from snappy to squishy and another one the lever distance from the grip and now that I got my set up right, I can't wait to try them on the trails again as soon as the conditions dry up again

Curious to see what your long term review on the brakes will be. I have the Guide R series with organic pads and I have never been happy with the performance. Mad stoked your enjoying the new bike!!

Heard good things about the CODE RSC with metallic break pads. Can't wait for the weather to get better to ride again

You were going stupid fast my friend. Those brakes gave you more confident. 😮 Sick lines you chose at Hartshorne.

Yeah dude and I didn't even have the right set up for my preference of these brakes. You can tweak them to your preference at home and in the next video they will do even better

@@nelsonmtb809 haha I don't think it will be easy, you are a fast descender. Also I'm still trying to improve my climbing fitness to an even higher level

I also have the fuel, and am thinking of a brake upgrade. Interested to see what you think in a month or so. I have Shimano on my hard tail and fat bike, might stay brand loyal. I did upgrade my bars to the PNW Range though. It made a great handling bike handle even better. Thanks for the videos, keep up the good work. 🤘🏻

I stay far away from sram brakes. Although, my first experience with them were those cheap and unreliable Guides. I decided to stick with Shimano Brakes because of the ease of bleeding. And since I use many rigs, having the same system makes plenty of good sense to me. As far as the modulation on my Shimano Saints goes, they have a very small amount of brake lever travel before full engagement. I am a fan of the unparalleled stopping power on my Saints. No fade at high speeds. No fail system aways works for me.

I wanted the Shimano XT but that shop didn't have them in stock so I got the slightly more pricy ones because I heard they offer the most stopping power. I adjusted them yesterday at home so they will be better on my next ride, in this video they were too spongy for me but you can make it more snappy by adjusting it but once you fully engage they bite like a maniac

@@allenkvextreme shimano does not have spongy issues. As long as you have no air in the line.

Shimano XT are practically as good as Saints. I intend to use them on my Scott Genius when I get around to upgrading the current Shimano offerings that I use now. I also find that using semi-metalic brake pads tend to work great in high speed gravity, dry or wet conditions. The choice of pads are a key factor that should not be overlooked.
