No, I didn't and, as you can see, I'm still active on arduinojson.org. I'll get back to cpp4arduino as soon as I can, I've just been very busy this year.

if creating a String with String str1((char *) 0);, would calling str1.c_str() on it cause a run-time error ?
No, it would just return a null pointer.
