I have seen much better designed system. There is a company in Colorado that makes this look like minor league. I am sure this will help. There is a lot involved in fire prevention and this is one step. Most fires start when embers get into your roof venting.
@@tripham2921 how much would you pay for a 15 sprinkler system? With option to utilize water from your swimming pool/ remote storage tank? I’m estimating in the range of 75,000 for a full smart system with battery backup connected to WiFi , fail safe for grid failure.
@@tripham2921 I have seen with my own eyes how effective a system like this is, during the 2019/20 fires in the Blue Mountains. If everyone in LA had a system like this not one house would have burned down. The key thing is to install a water tank...maybe 20,000 litres and keep it full and reserved for when it is needed, and in LA it looks like a matter of when, not if. It must be able to operate off grid as the grid will most likely be down during a fire. So, that means a fuel pump not an electric pump.
I noticed that the ridge capping on the corrugated 'colorbond?' roof has been "scribed". Up here in Qld. it is compulsory but when I was in Wollongong no ridges were scribed. It's in use up here because it lessens the damage caused by cyclones but it is also important to prevent ember ingress into the roof space during a bushfire. For a couple of hundred dollars I think all ridge caps should be scribed.
I love the automatic system. Here in the states we are encouraging home owners in the WUI area to manage the fuel loading around the home. We have specific specifications for the first 5 feet, 30 feet and 100 feet from the home. By adding an automatic sprinkler system to the perimeter the home owner has an added layer of protection. I consider managing the fuel loads around my home and additional sprinkler systems as insurance. Much less than the cost of loosing my home.
My friend had a roof sprinkler system installed in Melbourne Australia maybe 25 years ago. Unfortunately eucalyptus blue gum trees were imported into the USA from Tasmania Australia long long ago and there’s no natural species to eat the leaves to thin out like the koala bears in Australia.
Yes it does .. the sprinklers are placed in all of the vulnerable areas of the building so where ever the wind goes so does the water .. it’s a great system 👍
Have no experience in bush fires however it seems strange that if you are in this environment that you would have trees and shrubs against the building as shown at the end of the video ?
There are plenty of fires that start & threaten homes @ less than 50 just personally I'd be back it back up mid to starting to chase hi 40's say 45 to 47 Max & maybe even below 45, based on my extensive bush fire experience 50 is to high & maybe to late especially taking into account forwatd spotting & ember attack.
A petrol powered generator will be far more easily affected by fire. The 'flash point' for diesel is very high cf. petrol. Throw a match into a pool of diesel. It will never light up. Don't attempt the same thing with petrol.
Hi, we are located in NSW Australia. The system we installed is called a Platypus Fire Sprinkler, on their website here it says they have installers in USA platypussprinkler.com/contact-us-north-america/
Hi there, if you could give us a call at 1300 792 082 we will look up your location and identify some prices for you. We do not provide per square metre rates but will assess the property and provide an upfront fee for the entire works - we don't have any hidden costs. Hopefully chat soon!
Hi, we wish we could give you a quote in lovely WA but if you go to the Platypus Sprinklers & Controllers website they list installers across Australia. There is one company in WA called Bushfire Risk Solutions.
Once, again. Watering a roof is useless for preventing embers. The embers that light your home on fire are the ones that get tucked into gaps in the siding and under the eves. All of which would be dry with this system.
Probably the best designed system I have seen on TH-cam should be mandatory in bushfire areas in Australia 🇦🇺
It is definitely something that should be installed more frequently

What is the wind velocity limits of this system?
This would be a diabolical video recommendation in California right now
I am in Southern California and would love to have this system on my roof!!
Not really, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best is today.

Is the swimming pool the water source?

Many of us Californians are looking into this now. For many, it’s way too late.

The LA fires had winds perhaps higher than 80 miles per hour Does the spray get to the roof in those conditions?
Yes it does .. the sprinklers are placed in all of the vulnerable areas of the building so where ever the wind goes so does the water .. it’s a great system 👍
The system installed on this house, how much water does it use per hour?

So much cheaper than letting your home - and contents - get destroyed by a bush fire.
What protects the outdoor diesel generator? It must have its fuel source protected.

Great question! The generator is located within the spray zone.
Where can i buy this system? Im in NJ
You can buy this system from Curran Plumbing , in Australia.
Don’t thank me.

How can I get a quote for this in Western Australia
Hi, we wish we could give you a quote in lovely WA but if you go to the Platypus Sprinklers & Controllers website they list installers across Australia. There is one company in WA called Bushfire Risk Solutions.
How do I do this in British Columbia
Hello, this is the product we used here in Australia. It looks to be available in Canada: platypussprinkler.com/
The millionaires in Palisades should have seen this before these fires happened.
Wouldn't work for all homes. Where the fire was very intense and high wind they'd be like you pissing in the wind.
To Bad these are not on every house in the pacific palasades 🔥😭
