Tariffs are inflationary becasue the US Government takes a cut of the cost of the item = the price HAS to go up at least equal to the tariff level. B-U-T the process of paying the new tax, paying accountants to track it and pay it = even more money so 10% tariff might actually lead to the price going up 20%, who knows. The only benefit for Americans is if someone in the USA can make the item locally for cheaper and hire people to make the item, but either way the cost to American consumers will go up = inflation. Also Americans are getting older and there already is a lack of young people to do basic things like serve in the army or build homes, or work farms, so you suddenly force industry to make stuff here in the USA? But what if no one shows up to work for cheap labor to work like a sweat shop in China? Then you are really screwed

The American energy business is full of greed and the public pays the price!
