Bravo Salmieri. The sad truth is that many lecturers at the ARI do practice intimidation and appeal to authority. You have a very sensitive and close to the ground way of imparting how minds work, and indicating how they can work more effectively. This kind of easy and thoughtful reasoning is like a balm. I have listened to a number of your lectures, and you are always a compassionate observer. Lacking in harshness but rich in productive suggestions.

I think you don't want to stop at thinking of Greg's approach as 'compassionate'. I understand why, if that's an important category you use in your thinking, you would use it--but Greg isn't having deep empathy for the listener's suffering. 🙂 What Greg is doing is respecting how knowledge is built and understanding is developed (as you already see). His procedure tends to be very inductive and contextualized. It's not that he's never what some people would call "harsh", but he earns it beforehand, or when he uses it as a teaser, he cashes it in thoroughly. He is a wonderfully thorough and deep thinker, and I am always glad to find someone who appreciates him.

Now this is real ammunition for the mind. A well discussed and in-depth lecture. Thank you for the content!

I like your presentation because you are easy to understand. You follow the "KISS" method. Good job. Why don't you start a third party and call it the "Objective Party" using the constitution as the platform of the new party?

Any ideas on how to stay true to individualism and stoicism when you work for a company that is leaning more towards tribalism or groupthink?

I do wish you would provide a text version of these. It isn't difficult to do! As it is I find it impossible to comprehend what heavily accented speakers are saying. That, together with poor sound quality and deafness renders it totally incomprehensible. I am confident many, many others find the same problem.
You must either FIX this or I must unsub from a pointless exercise.

Subtitles/closed captions are available. You might try that.

The closed captions are automatic, but they seem to be remarkably accurate!

Ayn Rand, missed the reality of human
nature, objective reason without intuition hardens the heart of individuals and
loses the spirit of man. Spinoza, understood the reality of human nature and he
advocated a Democracy that includes both, capitalism with a social interest
(welfare) of the people who are less fortunate. Learn more, www.WayofSpinoza.com

Ok, "capitalism with a social interest". Who pays for all this here social interest you are thinking about? And when and where does all this here social interest spending stop? Who gets cut off of the spending? What project gets cut out of the federal budget? The federal study of fart in the wind and speed in the grass? Get real! What about the rights of the individual to spend his own money/property on what he wants rather than government taking it through taxing?
