@@InMyBusyLittleShop Your makers mark on the new portion of the belt would be appropriate. You are the maker that helped bring the belt back into use and credit is warranted. I would also understand if the client felt differently.
Yeah good point. I will ask the belt owner. I had a gentleman send me a picture of an old 1970’s Tandy belt book that pictured a belt that looked about identical to the belt that I worked on.
OLD Leather Smith here, nice job. I did something similar only the client wanted his name 2 stay in the center so I added 2 each end & matched the tooling exactly. The original belt was laced & buck stitched with Gold laces & Silver buck stitching, so I pulled out the old & replaced the laces & buck stitching original belt was 40" new belt is 56" long. I use Chicago screws 2 in installing hardware easier on the long run. I also use OVAL holes on belts only, less wear. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️ 🥎🙃
I was thinking since you went to a 1 1/4 bag punch you were going to use the punch out to fill the old slot. Belt came out very nice and the repair is seamless and unseen when wearing, great job.
Thanks! I think it came out nice. I considered filling the hole with a plug but was concerned that it would stay put. I have to think on it a bit. I am sure that I will have more to come.
Mr. Little, love your leather crafting videos ! Keep up the awesome content ! Question, where did you get that hand punch tool ? Looks really sturdy, I’d like to pick one up ! Thanks
Are you asking about the Rotoary punch? It’s from weaver. The blue bag punch is a BHT that I purchased from Landwerlen Leather in Indianapolis. Call them. They discount to where it’s worth it. They don’t have a website
That is a BHT punch. I purchased it from Landwerlen Leather in Indianapolis. Give Eric a call 1 (800) 827-9867. This is a 100 year plus old company with the same family in the same location. His prices for tool is less than I have seen elsewhere.
@@InMyBusyLittleShop I thought I recognized it! I have the same one BHT stamped, bought from a local supplier but would not tell me the source.. now I know! Thanks!
everybody has their own opinion. personally I would not wear that belt. OK, that;'s my opinion. think about the Ranger belt construction. work out 2 billets that are the same width as the belt. cut and skive the belt and billet and attach so No part of the belt end or the foldover will be visible. ad a shaped/fancy shape to the sewn on portion of the belt. die does not math and shouldn't. you experienced leather folks will understand. the process I tried to describe would be too long. have a great day....
Chuck, Thanks for your feedback and ideas. You could do as you described absolutely. Myself I love Ranger belts. The first goal for the owner was to have the belt look as much as possible to the original design. So I had considered the Ranger Belt but that is a big departure from the original design. Even centering the add on portions of the leather would have resulted in covering up close to 1/3 of the flower design. Still I appreciate your input. As it gives ideas to everyone.
Love wat happens in your shop being a newbie in the craft always learning from project U do a top crafter
Thanks! I appreciate you watching and commenting.

Thanks for following along. I hope you have a great weekend. Enjoy!
I like the flowers on the belt. Very unique!
The belt came out nice.
Saw those initials and was hoping you did too as to not get rid of them. Nice work!
Yeah that is a cool part of the belt history. I still have not decided to place my markers mark on the back. Not sure I should. What do you think?

Nice job ! I am sure they are thankful for their new belt!
Time will tell.
Really nice fix, maintaining the original as much as possible.
Well done yersel!
Cheers...Freddie
Thanks Freddie! I really like making an old leather item usable again.

That would be a serious amount of work to do it. I bet the client was very happy with the results. I appreciate the info as well.

I bet she’ll be happy to be able to wear that belt again!
I’m sure she will be as well.
Nice work BTW, I use Loktite on screws.
Thanks. I used loctite in the beginning. Messy and not a convenient applicator. The clear finger nail polish works great and holds like crazy.
that belt is screaming 1970's, i have some old leather hippie purses that match it to a tee
I know that the owner has had the belt a long time.
Where did you get that oblong punch?

It’s a belt for a female.
