Man, the elevator scene always get's me. The driver showing his brutal side to protect the girl, but knowing this will scare her away and make him lose her forever and all this in just a few seconds and with the elevator doors closing. Such good cinema.

It wasn't until the credits that I realized he was never refered to by a first or last name. Just "the driver" or "the kid". It's crazy they pulled that off off without making it obvious or awkward.

1 of the very few movies ever to receive a standing ovation @ Cannes.... I watched this flying from LA to Auckland & literally jumped out of my seat with astonishment when it ended.... masterpiece!
Kavinsky is a character made by Vincent Belorgey that has a striking resemblance to Vincent himself but the backstory does not follow anything in Belorgey's history. Kavinsky's story is that after crashing his Testarossa in 1986, he reappeared as a zombie in 2006 to make his own electronic music. Kavinsky's songs help tell his story; Vincent claims in an interview, "'Night Call' is just about the zombie guy [who] goes to his girlfriend's house and says okay I'm not the same, we need to talk", referring to Kavinsky going back to find his girlfriend after the crash who has already moved on with her life.
What a phenomenal movie Drive is. That last scene of him knowing that he will never see or be the same with her ever again was hard to watch.. He has to move on. And so does she.
While I don't know what's going on with life, I do know that this movie has brought a feeling in me that I strive for. I drive for work, I drive for family, and I drive as a hobby. But after all this, I think I'm gonna drive for me, and only me. I'm done doing life the way everyone wants it to be. I wonna start doing it the way I want it to be. Soon, I'll be racing and riding away from all my problems 'till my past can't be seen in the rear view mirror.
