@@CONQUEFFTADOR12 the reason ryzeal is harder to pilot is unlike maliss it doesn’t have an insta otk button. Maliss is a 1 card combo deck that also has insta win otk options. In game 1 you use TB11 to summon chessycat and you use his effect. But the summoned chessy cat is negated by the trap. If you summon it back on the field, after banishment or thru firewall, you can activate chessy on field.
I love this video! Love the insight of these two new and upcoming decks for Yugioh. The off-focus camera at TJ's is making me laugh for some reason. Like the camera is focusing so hard on the background but not on TJ.

It's not negated, just can't activate its effect after summon by TB11. But you can link it off or banish it or whatever then resummon it and it can activate its effect normally, as by then it's treated as a different card. In this video he misplay it once but some other times he did it correctly
The amount of misplays was crazy. Things might ve been slightly different if they read each card to make sure. Still both decks look fun to play and im excited for maliss
@@RadSkeeDadYGO exactly, I thought he corrected it by summoning with splash mage and cheshire, but he did resummon the link decoder. I'm tellin the judge!!!
Game 1 slight error that didn't end up mattering, but Maliss in Underground only let's your opponent attack your maliss links when there's one on the field, so he could have battled firewall. But great games!
I am an old-school Yu-Gi-Oh player, meaning, I started playing back in 2002, I wanted to watch this to see what a modern dual looks like, and, I think I'm about five or six minutes into this game, and you've not attacked once, Summoned so many times I think I've lost count, and the only life point damage that has been inflicted is what you inflicted on yourself, is this normal for modern Yu-Gi-Oh!? Just to clarify, I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh since 2007.
@@nativeExarch yes, most decks are combos that try to set up a board going first, however the game can still be very interactive on turn one if u have hand traps and going second trying to break the opponents board. The game is basically over if you can't break the opponents board tho.
These days decks are built around effect monsters. Normal monsters are practically outdated except for a few niche strategies. Also strategies these days revolve around building a competent board. But due to power creep boards are typically able to ne built in 1 or sometimes 2 turns. That being your own turn and your opponents turn right afterwards. Older yugioh that would take about 4-6 turns and all while trying to maintain the building up. Now as far as effects that cost LP? That's always been around and if anything monsters used to do it more back then. This new archetype "Maliss" however is one of the few that actually make the player pay LP to be able to make plays. As far as why no one has attacked in the first 5-6 minutes. Is because since combos are a general thing a lot of decks do, one players turn can take that long AND just like back in the day the player who's starting the duel cannot attack. In old school yigioh turns would typically go faster, due to a lack of interaction between players and a lack of combo set ups. But getting to the point where players would feel comfortable to attack could SOMETIMES take just as long, unless the player in the opening turn left themselves exposed. The main differences: - Modern Yugioh has more combos - Longer turns - More player interaction on opponents turns - Duels overall have fewer turns but can last just as long as older yugioh duels. - Competent Board States > Who has the bigger Monster ATK stat - The GY and Banishment zones are generally treated more like resources than before. - Cards are generally stronger and the payoff cards like bosses or end game cards are usually so strong it seems unfair. But that's balanced by their being stronger staples and built in counters to prevent the payoffs - The Extra Deck (Fusion Deck) is a way more common resource for players to play into and is often the reason for longer turns. - Extra Deck Monster types are more relevant now. With strategies often using 1 or multiple types. (Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, XYZ, Link) As far as similarities - Modern yugioh still relies on staple cards - Duels can still end fast when a player opens with a bad hand - Blowout cards can still be a silver bullet that can end an entire game - Duels can still drag on, albeit instead of passing turn and hoping for a good draw. They drag on because of longer turns. - Boss monsters and end game payoff cards are still necessary to close out games. Albeit its leas about bigger ATK damage and more about the effects. - Certain specific cards can still cost a lot to obtain. (Some ppl swear old school yugioh was cheaper. But that's because most of us didn't know how to build fully competent strategies and accepted whatever we could get.
