Science says it is possible to learn while we are sleeping. But we can learn only so much.
The idea of learning SOMETHING when we sleep should not be completely discarded. Recent studies have shown that it is possible to at least increase the performance of your memory during sleep. Using some specific techniques, it is possible to improve the consolidation process and increase your learning performance a bit.

This method helped me a lot while learning languages. I leave the video playing all night, and when I wake up, I study the same video, and it's retains the memory from the night before.

That's why my teacher told me to eat a candy whenever I study and eat the same flavor of candy on test

I memorized the main points from a nonfiction book, reviewed it for months, then when I started listening to the full 4 hour audio book before bed I accidentally fall asleep. But what’s fascinating is I have these distinct memories of “Aha!” moments but no real recollection of the specific things said. I woke up feeling inspired though, so now I’m excited to read the full book while I’m awake.

Consider: lucid dreaming to interact with information and convert it to longterm memory

I listen to audiobooks very quietly to fall asleep not so much to learn but to keep me focused and just about hearing what is said It stops my mind from thought wandering and keeping me awake, It works wonders.

But wouldn’t this mean your never having a proper sleep?

I listen to video to calm down myself and it help me better to fall asleep. I used to suffer insomnia because I thought too much during the bedtime. The rythmic speaking pace make me calm down and the content distract me from thinking my own staff.

I’m on this video bc when I sleep I listen to podcasts. And what they say in the podcasts very much affect my dreams and I feel that I take in a slight amount of knowledge from it. It’s strange how the sound effects my dreams tho I was watching a Sean Ryan podcast of a ww2 vet telling his stories of Iwo Jima and I had a dream of being there I woke up and the podcast was still going then I realized how it effects my dreams lmao

As a musician, I would be interested to know if there is a difference in sleep learning between “knowledge learning” vs “memorization”.
Do you know if the following type of experiment (or something very similar) has been done? Two groups of subjects are asked to memorize three melodies or successions of pitches. Let’s say these melodies are 1) unfamiliar / original / or perhaps even generated by chance, and 2) each of the three melodies are of increasing complexity. One group has been played these melodies during their sleep for the week prior, the control group has not. The question I’d be curious about is whether the group exposed to the melodies in their sleep showed a greater aptitude to memorize those melodies or not. As a control one could include melodies unfamiliar to both test groups to see if the increased capacity for retention only applied to the sleep-exposed melodies.

i've combined this with lucid dreaming and i've been able to visualize my fretboard like i'm actually playing and practice pieces and been able to get them when i wake up (not overnight of course over a long period of getting good at lucid dreaming )

It just hurt your brain and make you focus less during the day, you should let yr brain recover to work twice during the night.
