This was so much fun to make, and your instructions were very easy to follow! Thank you for sharing this! I actually made it with regular yarn because its what i had on hand while being snowed in. Not entirely sure what I'm going to do with a giant skull doily, but maybe I'll expand on it and turn it into a blanket or something at some other time. Thank you again!
Why did it took me six month to find this ? Absolutely stunning 😱 German coffee and crochet addicted here 🙋hello sister from another mother 😅😂 first doily is made and for sure more will follow... Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern.
Because this video doesn't have a huge number of views or comments. It's popularity that gets videos to the front of the line. I've been looking up skull projects for months too and just saw this one a few days ago.
So far love this pattern. Also a very late night owl. Coffee though is with vanilla protein 30 gm. Don't eat a breakfast. Only one cup. My daughter is into skulls and has them on her coffee table. So going to crochet this for under her skull vase with skulls in it.
Hello! I enjoyed this video so much. I just finished crocheting the doily. And it’s my first oily that I’ve ever made so I’m super excited. Thank you for sharing🖤🖤🖤
Again..thank you for sharing your work I love your pieces. Doilies are my favorites and they make people smile especially my skull and casket people! Blessings to you.
Hi there, I'm definitely a cat person. We have a beautiful black cat. His name is blacky. His sister Garfielda, she was a maneki neko, such a beautiful angel passed away this year sadly. She was already an old woman. Blacky had two brothers two. Both died because of cancer. White nose was just two years old and Kittos was fourteen years old and such a kind hearted soul. All of our kitty's where born at home and they're all like little children to our family. Btw J love crochet with you
@ina-sarahrother6296 what adorable names. It truly is amazing how those little fur balls mean so much to us. So soft your losses. Maybe they are playing with mine on the other side of the rainbow bridge. I love crocheting with you too
first of , I love your work , so much detail even with dyslexia , I can read the patterns but the videos are so good to follow along .... as for animals , I am an animal lover , I've had cats and dogs over the years even though I have an allergy to them , I've also had 19 snakes , breaded dragons ,several different breads of tarantulas spider . unfortunately due to so many allergies and travelling no longer have any pets
This was a fun pattern to do, thank you! I made mine a bit bigger, I used some thread that was donated to me called Ella rae which is 50% Cotton,45% Viscose, and 5% Silk and a steel hook sized 1(2.5mm). In total it took 2 rings of thread. Also, love how you pronounce "Picot" I said it the same way for years until another crocheter said I was driving her nut saying that word wrong lol, it's actually pronounced pee co.. Long I silnt T . Thanks again! New subscriber as well !
Yes, depending on the hook and thread size I use. Always feel free to add or take away a chain in a pattern. This pattern dose require blocking. I will say, thrust in the pattern.
@@creativeworksbyannie I think that's awesome and am glad to find other crocheters who support each other like this. Great work and patterns that make my little black heart happy, t🎉hank you for them. 🖤😈🖤 Edit:spelling
I taught myself crochet specifically to learn to make doilies and lace. My grandma was a master at thread crochet, and whipped up enormous tablecloths and doilies from her head 🤯 Unfortunately, i didn't realize how much i would want to learn and follow in her footsteps until she was gone. Which leads me to my question, since i can't ask her, and you seem to be quite a pro at this doily thing ("seem to be" LMAO... I own like 10 of your patterns... You are a pro 🖤). When crocheting with thread, especially for lace and doilies, should i be trying to keep my stitches tight? Not so tight i can't get through, but tight enough that it's not all flimsy and gappy? Or should i just expect blocking to solve my woes? When looking at my grandma's work, it seemed to be uniformly "tight", resulting in a smoother looking piece. I struggle when crocheting with regular yarn to keep my stitches looser (naturally tight crocheter here), but when i do that with thread, i feel like the look of it is wrong. What do you suggest? Thanks in advance, and thanks for creating designs and patterns that speak to my soul 🖤🖤🖤
I missed this some how yesterday. I apologize deeply. The key is to keep your tension as even as you can. Some chains sections may be looser as we forget ourselves sometimes. I like to try to crochet a piece all at once so I don't loose that days tension as each day we pick up a hook it may be tighter or looser depending on our mood, whats on tv, or even our health of the day. . Some blocking can help with the wobbles created from differing tension, but if you find there is too much >> give looks every now and again in case you think you may need to frog and set it aside. There is a lot of mental game when crocheting any piece. Don't be afraid to frog or put it aside depending on your mood, stress or health. . That being said, my pieces seem to be neater and tighter stitches when I watch thrillers or suspense type shows / movies.
@@creativeworksbyannie thanks so much for the detailed explanation 🖤. So, I should avoid the loose and loopy look though, correct? Such as, pulling up the "golden loop" as I would to make my (normally tight) tension a little looser when crocheting a normal type of yarn project? It's just always so disheartening to complete a project like this, only to realize the part with more concentrated stitches (like the skulls) is way tighter than the rest of the doily. So, I should work on keeping the chains tighter, it seems ☺️
Thank you. I sadly had to take them off for surgery this past month. It was the first time some have been off my wrist in over 28 years. But they are all back where they belong, safe and sound now
This went so great, very easy to follow and works up really quickly. I did have a problem with the last round but I think that's due to the way I make picots (I'm pretty sure that's pronounced PEEK-oh because it's a French word). Anyway, mine were not nicely in the middle, but over toward the previous two dcs but not in the middle of those either so they really looked wonky. My workaround was to ch 4, sl in the 3rd ch, ch 1, then work the next two dcs. Then my picots were nicely centered. Picots are my third least favorite thing to crochet, the first two being popcorns and puffs, so I'm not surprised this gave me trouble! If anyone has the same problem, try it.
Thanks for the awesome design and tutorials! I've been checking out your etsy shop and love all of your designs. I am interested in purchasing the pattern for this tutorial, but I can't seem to find this exact design. Maybe I'm just missing it?

It's aunt Linda's or Lydia's? I'm sorry, I suck at hearing correctly. I love this design.
She did say Aunt Linda's but I'm pretty sure it is indeed Aunt Lydia's. She mispronounces picot so I'm thinking she just mispronounced it as well.
Super easy to follow. Thank you for the awesome pattern :) is it also possible to make the doily bigger? E.g with 10 skull heads instead of 8?
I have accidentally made it with 9 before so yes it is possible but turns out wonky due to the diameter of the doily.
Sound my dear Sound!
