- Jesuit principal Mike Scicchitano '01 addressed the student body at Convocation on Aug. 29, 2024, reflecting on the extraordinary 16-year tenure of school president of Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J., who completed his presidency a few days later. Scicchitano credited Father Hermes with elevating all aspects of the school. "He led from the front lines," Scicchitano said. "On behalf of the school community, thank you." Father Hermes, who served Jesuit as president from May 28, 2008 until Aug. 31, 2024 (the longest presidential tenure in Jesuit's 125-year history), spoke after Scicchitano and shared his love of high school work. "If you want the traditions (of Jesuit) to endure, then you have to be faithful to them now. We always talk about being 'Men for Others,' and I think that is essential to the DNA of Jesuit, that we want to produce 'Men for Others.' We should always keep in mind the great motto of the Society of Jesus, Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam - For the Greater Glory of God."
