In 1969 Apollo got all the headlines. But this car.. this car truly is the Chariot of the Gods. Thank you for no music other than that provided by the V12 up front.
I wanna see 1968 Iso Grifo vette v8 top speed...should be appx 300 kmh, imo that car was something special. Italian style, european quality and muscle car strongest engine.

Some have criticized the Daytona for its driving characteristics at normal speed: heavy steering, stiff gear box, too heavy, etc. but this drives shows what the car was designed to do and just how well it does it.
Very respectful driver sharing the common road in a safe manner. Notice how he adjusts his speed around others, even if they are in lanes to his right.
This brings back VERY happy memories of driving my Daytona. The car is astonishingly well-planted at high seeds; look at the steering wheel in the video - it's rock solid. All the elements come together - the heavy steering, the perfect weight distribution and the aerodynamics. Also, they sound SO much better than modern supercars.
Always wanted to see a Daytona do this but never thought anyone would do it ,my favourite car for 50 years absolutely amazing and thanks for uploading.
refreshing to see someone who knows how to drive a car, I don't just mean the speed, I mean holding the steering wheel correctly, making quick gear changes and not using the gear stick as a hand rest,...change gear and hands straight back on the steering wheel...there are so many lazy drivers on you tube who just can't drive properly, this Ferrari pilot is good , you can tell he is a pro driver.
And now: pig skin driving gloves, massive sideburns, suede jacket, a lit cigarette in the corner of your mouth… to complete the picture. What a car, thanks for a fantastic video
Encore toute fraîche cette Daytona qui a peuplé mes rêves d'adolescent, rien que sur circuit elle dominait son monde... Merci pour cette vidéo qui m'a fait revivre des moments de grande intensité
Nice driving. Something about that V12 sound, rock solid at that speed for a restoration of a Classic Daytona 365 GTB/4. Top speed run- box checked. Now time to find some twisty sections of asphalt, maybe a run through a mountain pass next? Thanks for bringing us along. Most of us will never have this experience in our lives. V12 entertainment while you wait.
A few years ago, my wife and I were on our way down Bulla Rd in Melbourne in our heavily tuned Evo X and we got into a bit of a good mannered stoush with a couple of guys in a Daytona. Our Evo had 400+ KW at the wheels and the two Hawaiian shirted lads in the Daytona were easily keeping pace with us in the traffic! It's something I'll always remember!
This is one of my favorite cars, great restoration. It all seems so effortless, and that for a late 60's released car, just put that in perspective when compared to other cars of that era.
The stat which always impressed me most was 110-130 in 4th gear in something like 5.4 secs, same as the 0-60 time. Even now in 2022 that's a quick time for the horsepower and your typical Golf R type car won't manage it. One of my childhood dreams cars the Daytona.
You know the 812 Superfast which is the Daytona’s successor all be it with a few generations in between has a naturally aspirated 6.5 V12. You saying that’s an appliance?
@@alextester7037 I hear what you are saying. I cannot stand anything which is computer operated, it does not make me right but that is my opinion. Yes! Its so much more about the feeling, the sound, the smell and so on, not the numbers! I know that amodern civic turbo would blast the doors off that ferrari, but like somebody wisely said :"its much funnier to drive hard than fast", if you know what I mean.

Just great, love the sound and looks restored to a high standard 👌 Manuals are for drivers, automatics are for passangers.... Much better than a battery toy car with a plug in the bumper..
Finalmente qualcuno che la usa per quello che è stata ideata e progettata, una gran turismo mooolto veloce, fatta per correre e non passeggiare….. Meraviglia!!!
I love the way the front end rises on the throttle. My Mustang GT does that and it adds to the drama of driving fast. The instrument cluster is beautiful.
Great performance for such a vintage classic,a 50 y.o.car(whatever the real achieved top speed). Congrats for still driving it the way it was intended to be driven instead of just letting it laying in a garage.
When the Daytona appeared on the cover of that issue of Road & Track did they show the beautiful Pininfarina body? No, the picture was of the speedometer and tachometer needles wound almost to their maximums. Many decades later and your video is the first time I’ve seen that same view, and better than a static photo too! Your video is a treasure. Thank you. Now I will watch it again.
Absolutely love pretty much any video which shows those old, hearty cars being driven at full whack. Lovely video of a lovely car man. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
6:22 That Fiesta was going for it too lol. Must have been an awesome experience being past by such a rare vintage sportscar and hearing it's exhaust sound over the high speed noise in your own car
Watched this again and it’s incredible, mind blowing car wish I one could see the car as a whole. Looks like it is Yellow or something along those lines. Whoever built this must/ should be proud of a fantastic car build quality. 👊🏿
Looks impressively rock steady at top speed. Of course, Ferrari did adapt it to race at Le Mans in period for the uninterrupted 6 km Hunaudières straight, which was and remains a public road.
I used to do my top speed highway runs at night with very good headlights. No traffic and more dense air which an engine loves. Would love to do that in this amazing car. Great video!!
A lot less courage than a VW Beetle Type-1, at a fraction of this car's top speed; I can assure you. I've had three, they were all the same. You're constantly making corrections above 75mph. Any gusty wind, you'll know all about it. You have to be reading the movement of trees in the distance constantly to have an idea when and how much to correct..
imagine that back in the 70's..mind warp speed and still quick now, I once had an experience in the 80's where one passed me when i was in a coach doing 100km, it was easily doing what this is here, it is indelibly etched in my mind
Had a chance to buy a Datona Spyder in 1979 for $45,000. I decided on a 79' Porsche 930 Turbo instead. Through the years I have often wanted to kick myself in the head. The 930 was great, but the Daytona decision leaves lingering regret.
Inside the Daytona, you're back in another time -- and all the "fridge-freezers" you are passing remind you of that. And even the autobahn looks bland and sterile... I like the old world! :0)
My 1074 Lamborghini Urraco P250 S would easily reach 240km/ hr at 7500rpm in 5th. Completely stable, with your hands resting lightly on the wheel and a symphony playing magnificently from the engine bay!
