Can't believe how slippery the track was for you. I did my first track day and Donnington a few weeks back and a lot of the drivers were saying the jet fuel residue from the planes at East Midlands Airport make it a slippery track. Fair play to you for fixing the Mini up and getting out there again. Really enjoying these track day videos mate 👍

That makes some sense, all I heard was the planes taking off😂 Very slippery, definitely a learning day for me! Will certainly try and improve the videos as I go to more and more track days. Very happy with how it’s all going so far! Thanks for watching mate

Soft suspension let's the car roll more and gives you more grip. The rear suspension was defo too hard and thats why you were losing the rear so easy.

And always adjust in huge, random increments. "15? I'll make it 30!"

Just found your channel as I’m looking for recent Donington videos as I have a track day there next Friday! Seeing how tail happy your mini is reminds me of my old Integra Type R! Crazy how unpredictable it was.
Have you had a full proper wheel alignment done? I wonder if the suspension is something to do with it? Or whether it was just pure track conditions? You could see towards the end of the video the handling improved massively, making me think it WAS just track conditions?!
Great how you got some instruction, it’s fantastic how they offer it for free. It’s 100% something I’m going to take up, can’t beat some free tuition! Thank you for recording some of the lesson!
    I’ve subscribed! Keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words mate, the track conditions definitely were a good part of the problem! I haven’t had a four wheel alignment in a good couple months, that would definitely help I imagine. I was so surprised at how the car was performing at the start, I couldn’t quite work out why it was slipping out that often!? But yes weather conditions cleared and we had much more controlled fun😂
They do say the best modification you can do is to use the free tuition! I certainly use every time I go to a track, more to come mate. Thanks for watching and I’ve subscribed to yours!

@@BTR_REBUILD Thank you for replying mate!
Yeah you could tell how the car massively improved in handling once the track dried up. I sent this video to my brother as it’s most likely going to be similar conditions on Friday lol, he’s now nervous hahaha.
Free tuition here we come lol. Keep up the good work and thanks for subscribing to my channel too!!

@@HyperCut_Films Just take it very easy and do not actually drive over the apex as they are slippery as f*ck! Best of luck mate!

You want to set dampers softer in the wet and stay off the apexes where there is fuck all grip. Keep it pinned when the back goes and obviously countersteer..

Hi,to watch this in your car is awesome, that was a big spin to cause damage the front of the car,but you sorted it out for the rest of the day.towards the end it was brilliant due to the road drying out,top driving 👌.

Cheers mate, I’d love to get a drone or a GoPro on the outside to get some more shots. Thank you though, really appreciate the kind words as always! Trying to book a track day a month, amazing day out. And on top of that even more enjoyable driving something I built myself!

When the back end gets sideways counter steer and put ur foot to the floor, in these light fwd cars that’s the best thing you can do, it takes some time to get your head around because it’s instinctive to come off the throttle.

I have definitely learnt now😂 It’s just the initial shock your automatic reaction is to step on brakes. Hopefully no more track days in the cold and rain for a while. Will hopefully come out of it a little better next time! Thanks for watching and the advice bro

Just looks like a lot of lift off oversteer, the speed you were carrying didn’t look a problem, just gotta stay committed bro, good effort though👍🏼

Thank you mate, definitely more of a learning day for myself, I’m glad I’ve done it now so I can learn from it and hopefully steer away from incidents like that. Appreciate the comment, hopefully see an improvement in the next one. Thanks for watching!!
