@@doubleosgarage I have a guy here in Maryland who has been tuning European vehicles for 30 years. He's doing a custom tune. I hear that he has an Audi R8 that's running 7's at Capital Raceway.
Hi mate, nice video, after install, i saw in comments u using stock fuel map, and probably stock injectors, do you feel any difference in acceleration and spool speed of the turbo, more sound? Total hp gained? Thanks... I have stage 1 1.8t C5 Audi with custom intake and exhaust, car goes good, my k03 charges 1.1 bar now, around 210hp, but i think its at the limit, what do you think should be good idea to swap this system k04 hybrid...?
That all depends a safe bet would be Borg Warner. I went with cx racings k04 hybrid because it was cheap and temporary since my factory turbo was blown. I do plan on building the motor and adding a bigger turbo in the future so it didnt really make sense to spend so much on a turbo that i dont plan on keeping
@@doubleosgarage Ohhh boy lol. Subscribed. I have a 1.8t B6 too and your vid made me buy that same K04 hybrid. Sometimes you just gotta grab the boobs and jump brother.
@@doubleosgarage Good to know. Also I have those same headlights with LED bulbs and I did notice some corrosion inside one of the connectors to the main headlight harness. Just something to keep an eye on.
Not a question bout turbo , but can some 1 help me with this , my speedometer stopped working and can’t find the speed sensor anywhere. Some ppl say it’s behind the oil can but that’s not it . 2003 a4 Quattro 1.8t thank you And love this vid by the way helped me a lot
I ran a 20psi tune on my 2005 a4 1.8T and upgraded to a Ko4 hybrid, TT, injectors, and a 20psi tune for the KO4. Motor doesn’t whistle like it used to and doesn’t seem to be building boost…even with a 20psi tune. Any ideas?
It sounds like your car is stuck in limp mode. Hard to say what it could be id recommend scanning the car and double check that everything was installed properly
Im not sure tbh the turbo was on its way out if not already blown and the clutch was slipping when i bought the car. The car isnt tuned so im sure it cant be to much more.
@Boosted_avant no so theres 2 ways to avoid this you can either have the car tuned to bypass the check engine light or you can do what i did and get an o2 spacer
You are really holding the car back installing a bigger turbo with a stock intercooler system. Your timing your IAT and your overall power will suffer.
Nice i almost went with that intercooler but i didnt want to cut my crash bar so i decided to go with a front mount set up from cxracing since im also running their ko4 hybrid turbo. I dont plan on doing anything crazy to this car its just a daily driver/ winter beater so i went with McLeods “stage 2” daily clutch since i do plan on adding a tune and bigger injectors.
No issues with the turbo so far. All i bought was the turbo, turbo lube, and new oil for an oil change so the turbo got fresh oil on its first start up. Tbh as long as you do the install correct and dont beat on it from the start i dont see why there would be an issue. Ive only been running the turbo for a few months and its been working perfectly fine. I recently upgraded my clutch since it was starting to slip i should be ready for bigger injectors and a tune now.
From what i read on their website this turbo would be for the AMB engine. Im not sure if it would fit tbh. I would try to find one made for the BEX engine just to be safe
What tuner do you use or do you drive with stock tune?? I got new spark plugs and the r8 coil packs for my car i dint think i would need a tune but my car is acting up also have high flow cat what do you think problem is??
@misaelguevara1375 atm im running a stock tune. New spark plugs and coils shouldn’t require getting a tune. I would check if all the coil pack connectors are fully connected. From my understanding a tune isnt required but recommended with a high flow cat. Is your car throwing any codes?
@@doubleosgarage I was going to ask about the headlights also. They look great! Are you getting any lights on your dash for headlights? I heard that B6 Audi's don't like aftermarket headlights.
For the most part i would say the seals are blown. Some blow by is normal but not alot. They are 20 year old cars so the turbos going to go out eventually.
Nice i doubt the internals of this turbo are billet. I got the turbo as a temporary quick fix since mine was blown. Eventually id like to build the motor and add a bigger turbo but i need to finish my other car before i can start that project lol
Hey! Great video. Did you do ECU reprogramming for your new turbos?
I’m looking into getting a b6 rn and these videos make me want to get one even more. These cars seem fairly easy to work on and reliable the 1.8
I have a K04 Hybrid also. I'm about to do a tune because I'm getting an overboost code. I love the extra power, though.

It's actually a video that has been very helpful to me, it's just that I have a doubt about what size the 3 screws that hold the turbo are.
17mm

yes but u should minimum get a remap to make use of the bigger turbo
not sure if your gonna reply to this since how late i am but where did you get the intake pipe for the turbo??

I bought cxracings hybrid turbo. www.cxracing.com/products-by-car-audi-vw-a4-s4-b6/TRB-K04-1
@@doubleosgarage That's not a hybrid, that's just a knockoff k04-015. Being a drop in replacement doesn't make it a hybrid. Wash your hair.
If the front half of the turbo is a ko4 and the rear half is a k03 it is a hybrid turbo…. This k04 hybrid will not fit a k04 exhaust manifold
Can the k04 be upgrade on auto trans
The turbo has nothing to do with the trans. I dont see why the stock trans wouldn’t be able to handle a k04
