- The 2022 Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup kicked off with a bang in Lourdes, France. Eliot Jackson was on the ground to walk you through the 48 hours leading up to the only run that counts for DH riders, finals.

A new season brings excitement and nerves for every MTB athlete. This Lourdes downhill track was last raced in 2017, so the hours leading up to dropping in were spent wisely, as riders reacquainted themselves with this fast and technical DH track.

@@TRAILDWELLERMTB Go back and watch a Freecaster event if you can find one. The stream quality and reliability ALONE was average. Yeah , Warner was funnier but the overall coverage didn't come close to what weve become accustomed to fro RB.

Maybe I'm a pessimist but do we have ANY reason to think Discovery will come anywhere near Red Bull in terms of World Cup coverage? Not just the race itself, but the TH-cam/social media content? I'm pretty nervous. Really going to enjoy this season.

@@JoeBob-lb5mu I belive the UCI races will be covered by Discovery Channel. Or at the very least they will be the ones with the broadcast rights. The days of free race coverage is over.

Man, I love Eliot's commentating. He gets me so stoked on racing. His level of stoke actually is what gets me pumped. He just loves it. And big thanks for mentioning physios. So much pressure on physios to 'fix' our patients. I can't imagine the pressure on a DH UCI physio. Would be an incredible area to work in though. Basically like a formula 1 mechanic. Man, I love bikes....

Eliot Jackson, the narrator, competed up until a few years ago. I have no answer for why there aren't more, but it's an interesting fact to know about the host.
