NHL 25 is an ice hockey simulation video game developed by EA Vancouver and published by @EASPORTSNHL
I stream NHL on Twitch including HUT Gameplay, Pack openings, and Franchise mode including season simulation and player / team creation.
I love to create content involving IIHF Womens National team players and utilizing
female professional hockey players in my Hockey Ultimate Team.
I got to say I am extremely disappointed with HUT this year. I am a mix between FTP and PTP. The packs are not even attractive in the store and they don't yield anything of use. I can not understand why they keep flooding everyone with Bronze cards which do nothing, and all icons. None of it makes sense.
I just hope later on the year those cards will be needed for something. I am scared how FTP will be able to compete against teams who spends loads of money, and it’s okay, if you spend money but there should be some balance so FTP can at least get close
I will say 70 plus overall bronze cards are interesting
Player trade in sets. 70 bronze to 20 silvers then 20 silvers to 5 golds… pay2play

Excluding the XP path I'm willing to give it a shot.
Althought they MUST find a way to balance our pack openings, for most of us the joy of opening packs is a big part of playing HUT. Right now they've fugged us on it..
Best way in my opinion: Patch in weekly rewards in squads and rivals on top of the current rewards. I might just switch over and play EASHL instead unless they give us something. If they've only let packs return in milestones that could do something at least...
That would be the best way of delivering rewards. Give us packs we had last year and XP path would be on top of things but no, why would they be so generous. I will continue playing the game as I love HUT but this year may be the biggest challenge to make any good cards
We all paid for the game up front so technically there is no such thing as a true free to play players here. Turning a $60-$100 game into a freemium pay to play game is disgusting and EA should be ashamed of themselves. At least the mobile games that do this are free up front.
That’s a valid point but I buy a lot of games where I don’t spend anything after. The feedback was passed to content team but we just have to wait and see where it leads form here. I hope it change as we go but who knows
I really hope the creators listen to you (the content creators) who are actually interacting with the player base and fix this issue. Yes they might give us so many players and I'm trying to look upon this with positivity and think that they are giving us quality over quantity this year. Instead of thousands of players that will be in the stash we get usable quality players.. but they should do a hybrid of both this year.

It makes me so sick I loved last year where you could get weekly rewards biggest L ea has done upon others they should’ve put that on top of weekly rewards but your not overreacting I feel so underwhelmed and upset feel we should be screaming from the rooftops so they might hear us but yeah hut looks horrible this year (also keep up the good work appreciate your content)
Thank you. I am trying to stay positive and will continue making content and play the game but it will be challenging for people who aren’t very good and rely on cards to have some kind of chance to win games. Everyone raised the concern with EA so now I just hope they listen and release something more FTP friendly

This is really really ... awful !! For casual free players this is the end of us in hut ... yes the gameplay is better but ... this is not enough :(
I just hope EA understands that it’s not the way to go and change something in with next content drop with objectives or something else. I get they can’t change the XP path but lord, we need cards to make cards
100% I agree. For free to play players and casuals this game is dead… If you’re not spending money in this game you’re not going to get anywhere… If you pay to win this game will be fun and it’s fucking sickening.
I doubt even for PTW players it will be that good if you look at the packs and what you can get tbh

This is only my opinion, but by people not spending coins in packs, and not opening them, will keep the market as it is now, high demand low supply for 75-80 overall cards.
But the XP tree is a little joke, so far nothing good has been pulled by me, I am half whey in wildcards, and the wildcard packs are a joke that has bronze and 74 and lower players. Feel cheated. Some one ,except EA, should start making Hockey games. If there was a Live HUT type game which only had updates and patches i would jump on that so fast.

Thanks for watching the video. Appreciate it a lot. Some comments on what you said. Any company can make an NHL game as EA don’t hold a license so it’s free from anyone who wants but because the player pool is that small no one will invest money for almost zero profit if you compare to what you have to spend to make a good game, I hope one day we see more companies giving it a shot but until then we are stuck with EA Sports. Agree on packs but the reason people don’t open them is that there is barley any good packs you can open and get a 80+ cards, until EA release something worth spending coins on I will pass. I am done with wildcard already and at level 7 on XP path so just 43 levels still to go 😂😂
The packs and rewards in general are not good and I hope content team realise that and change things as we go, it’s not looking good when you can only earn 10 of 79+ cards on XP path in 7 weeks long content ( XP path ) compared to last years rewards. I didn’t pulled anything good as well but I am okay, will just play the game and see where it takes me ☺️
Do you get more of the 84 wilcard cards later this year? I chose Dustin Wolf. Dont know why..

I play every year and put some money into the game but when I do put money in its MY choice and this year moneys a bit tighter and EA just gave me the middle finger and said must pay to play. :(
It will be very hard for NMS players but we will get there and I hope future content drops will be more fun

I will still play HUT and try to get my team to 99 at the year end because that’s the challenge
You know the state of the game is sad when Wildcard is looking like the best mode out there in terms of rewards.

Idea behind reward structure was good. But like said rewards are absolutely horrendous and that 55 days is worst joke EA has ever made. I have been playing since 08 every year and past years EA has disappointed many times but this was beyond any nightmare I could think. They really trying to kill the game. PS thx for not give a second for promoting those criminal packs.

You need to use players with same synergy ( check how many players need to have it based on synergy ) if activated it will boost the stats
The nhl players boost pack from xp season. The reward for tier 5. I pulled a mckinnon. HUGE. and so unexpected. Usually those packs are not great.

I pulled Heiskanen in mine. 83 overall. One of the better base defenseman that I've used.
Lets be honest, hut was never good. Most players with families, full time job and other things to do can now finally complete all matches. Prices of the packs also make it better because not every child can now buy the packs for real money.
But EA business model has changed a lot, their shares are hitting highs so what happens with gameplay doesnt really matter to them. All they need to do is put some show and bit of acting when presenting the games, introduce new and improved technologies which convinces consumers and also investors. Yet there is no real difference between this year or nhl 21. In last 1 year EA stocks are up by 16%, in last 5 years its up by ~51% compared to for example take two (which owns 2k games) 7% and 23% for last 5 years. The only company which could actually compete with ea puts all resources into other games so no wonder that ea can do whatever they want with nhl.
This year they removed rush and gave us wild card which is the same as rush.
Issues with this game are the physics, poke checks dont connect not even with the opponents sticks, you can still skate through opponents sticks if the opponent has the puck without them loosing any control. Goalies are crap, wrist shots from the blue go in more often than from in front of the net.... we should also be able to change strategies and players positioning however we want instead of using their preset ones.
I disagree with what you are saying, you could literally get good team with almost no time spent in the game last year so even if you busy you still can remain competitive. Packs will always be part of ultimate team and if people can afford it and believe they need it, they can do whatever they want with money, kids don’t spend money on the game, the bugged spenders are lower division 40+ years old. Gameplay is at the best it ever was, for sure it needs some tweaks but I am sure it will be adjusted in next patch.
Keep up the great work and content is very underwhelming for sure.
I am trying to stay as positive as possible and I only hope that after I complete everything they released today I will be able to build my team in any way it’s actually competitive online.

And please keep making videos calling out this bullshit… Remember last year they ONLY had squad battles and rivals collectibles and you would trade those in for packs?? And then we complained and they added packs plus the collectibles to squad battles and rivals… So I’m hoping they bring back weekly rewards, They can keep the 804 games for squad battles but just cap out the amount of Squad battle points you need to get a certain tier AND give XP for the XP path… There is a way to do this, But unfortunately this game is dead as of now… Which sucks because I love the gameplay this year… PLEASE keep making videos trashing this because it’s justified and EA needs to know this is bullshit.
I am not trashing it, just raising my concerns about its hope that something will change, I don’t want to be that kid who screams online and just is negative but if you take away rewards at least give us close to what we had. I am okay with slow progression and other changes but how can we make TBs or any Xfactors when I can’t even get 38 cards to do the trade in set
They need to tweek the wildcard mode but I think the purpose of that mode is for people who DONT LOG IN EVERYDAY. As soon as I started to get middle of the reward path I started getting matched with bots to control how much I level up. There really is no such thing as free to play. Not if you like playing alot....Been that way for me for 7 years . I wont buy packs anymore bc I do not like game rigging and EA tactics.
I hated rivals and hated squad battles. I hate long grinds to get a decend card. If I spend money I want to buy specific cards not random packs....but EA has ripped me off so I will not spend money outside the game now. I would not have bought standard version this year but it was only bc of new mode. Next year same thing. New mode and changes to BAP or I wont buy.
Completed my 2nd Wildcard and never had any issues, I dont have any issues with the game but rewards need to be better!

@@dagger4442 What I meant was I did the early access and the latest one without any issues finding games or anything else. I know you can’t get rewards again until they drop a new one on Friday. 🥲 content creation is my hobby so I am good, better game would help and with that I mean better rewards do I don’t need to grind so much but you have to do what you have to do I you don’t spend money. If you do it’s much easier for sure

The 80 overall choice pack is actually low key great . I picked Laine for mine
Those are good, but you can’t get them all to 85 as not enough XP tokens on the XP path

Yes, you will earn 15 XP tokens from XP path so will be able to upgrade 3 players from 80 to 85 of your choice

I diddnt buy nhl25 after playing nhl24 for 800 hours. I knew HUT was going to be a let down, nhl24 content for hut was simply way too good
I don’t think the game is bad, this year is one of the best experiences I had in game and enjoy it a lot but god the content is just not good enough
Does not look great ... but until I rip packs and see what I get, who knows. I am casual and prefer offline ... but will suffer through online Wild Card to finish that faster ... sigh ... try to avoid sweaty
I don’t mind Wildcard and still think it’s okay from rewards point of view if we compare it to Rush, objectives and moments are also okay but XP path should give us more NHL players like give us 80+ packs and I am good but not bronze
They had to back peddle on their initial changes to rewards last year bevause of the backlash they received, not sure how they thought giving us even worse rewards this year was a smart business decision. I have a feeling the population will be even more dead now than on early access. It kind of feels like theyre trying to sabotage the franchise.
