    Don't throw out your eggs or give them all to the pigs. They should be good. They weren't washed so they are just fine. Do a float test if you need to. I just had a bunch of eggs that were sitting in a dish outside for days. I did the float test and they sank which means they are fine. We ate them and they are good.

Yes that hen was mad , I've had hens in the past sitting and when you move them from the nest they do get mad and she was telling the other chickens about it I believe because I had a little rooster to they to flog me because I moved a sitting hen from the nest before lol. Advice: when it comes to 2stroke or 4stroke motors, there are some main things that can make it not work properly. 1.Gas filter is dirty 2. Water in gas can and line. 3. Spark plug has lil spark(not gapped properly) or dead. 4. Air filter is clogged so it will over heat. 5. Low oil in crank case. 6. Carburetor injector hole(s) are gummed up, diaphragm is dirty, fuel to air mixture is either to lean or to rich, float is stuck. I hope this isn't to much for yah Dutch....lol

    If you want to know whether eggs are good or not, fill a bowl or pan full of water deep enough that the egg is completely covered. Put an egg in the water, if it floats, it is not good. If it is on the bottom but stands up a little but is touching the bottom it’s still good but only for a couple days more. If the egg lays down on the bottom, it’s a good egg. You probably know that but I thought I’d tell you just in case you didn’t.

    • @okejee3455
      @okejee3455 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can also see if an egg is starting to develop a chick inside by candling it. Use a flashlight (or candle) in a dark room. The 'germ' will be visible....you can tell if it is larger than normal.

    With your broody hen, either separate her, where other hens cant lay more eggs and give her 12 eggs to hatch. Or if you want stop her being broody, separate her into a small cage without a nest and keep her there for about 5 days. To speed up process give her underside a cold soaking and lock the rooster up with her.

    Been off grid now a year, love it, just wanted to try to help with the solar, we live off 1 kw, but we built our own home and wired the whole house 12 volt and only use inverters where needed. Your fridge and freezer use alot of power, we went propane fridge and we have 1 kw running a deep freeze, there is cheaper ways of off grid, you just have to way you options out, to convert a whole house and run all the modern conveniences costs way to much in solar to justify it, it take 1/3 of your power produced to convert it over to consume it with appliances. If you wanna know more just ask. Love what you guys are doing.

    In Florida where it’s hot too, needing A/C a lot we trashed 4 different Honda generators.
    I finally bought a 10 kw military generator it’s very very quiet runs on diesel fuel, out put ism120 -240 volts even 3 phase.
    I found mine on eBay it had 200 hours and paid $3,300. I plant to add it to the house once we get the grid hooked up.

    Hey, I'm going to share-forward a tip a neighbor of mine shared, a farmer from Georgia now long gone.
    If you have water-contaminated gasoline, you can separate the water with a funnel and a piece of nylon cloth. The nylon lets gas right through and stops water on top, I think it's chemically hydrophobic. I like to line a funnel with the cloth then let the nylon drip-dry after. It also strains any particulates pretty well. I really don't like putting alcohol into fuel for small engines, tends to be corrosive. I run my small engines on E0 gas.
    Hope this helps someone.
    Cab

  • @daveedson8607
    @daveedson8607 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dutch - invest in the inverter and the battery bank first. You can then use the generator if needed to charge. This allows your generator to run when needed to charge, but remain off while the batteries are carrying your loads. Then add panels as $ becomes available. Martin Johnson has done this and it is cost effective. The charge controllers have a connection that will start a generator automatically if needed. I don't have solar yet, but I'm an electrical engineer (retired) that has done quite a bit of research. Good luck.

    My grandmother use to keep two separate pens, side by side,for her chickens. One for her brood hen(s) to hatch and raise babies, with a wire cover over it, and the other for eating and selling eggs. This way you can raise chicks to keep your chickens replenished, just put a different rooster in with her every once in a while. "Rotate the stock", as my grandmother would say. Then with the other chickens that have no rooster, let the kids sell eggs at a local farmers market or advertise at the road or wherever saying your have fresh eggs to sell. You will have people buying them.

    Told you before that that’s why they invented the hat you’ve got on your head! Take it off your head by the bill and hold it over the chicken so she can’t pick at you get your eggs then put the hat back on. It works every time!! Try it you’ll like it!👲💞

    Those expos are great for sharing knowledge with like minded people.
    I'm praying that taking it apart doesn't nullify the warranty.

      I don’t think it would void a warranty especially when you have to take it apart to clean or change the filter, did you see where it was? Crazy how it’s put together!

    Dutch, tearing into projects is how you learn. If you got water in the fuel, you'll have to drain all of the carburetor, it's bowl plug take screws out and count you turns when doing it. Thanks for sharing Iowa cares

    Hey Dutch, when you return the generator, it doesn’t give you another 90 days warranty. Your original warranty will still be used and you will only have 60 days left. So, if there’s anyway possible, try and get your warranty extended or buy the extended warranty.

    Living off the grid and not being mechanically inclined… you must like punishment! 😬 How generous you were/are to mention our channel. If we had only know who you were at the time the conversation would have been a little different. Julie and I both mentioned that we probably would really enjoy hanging out with your family. It would be a huge honor to have you all stay on our property if you ever come through the St. Louis area. Also if you ever want a hand with a project please don’t hesitate asking. I’d love to see your bandsaw setup.
    Nailed the pronunciation!
    By the way your followers speak so very highly of both of you.
    God bless you guys!

    We have bought our predator almost 2 years ago. Done very little maintenance to it, and its a predator 9000, and it still running for us, we use it almost everyday about 2 to 3 hours a day sometimes even more if its very hot. And we've had very little problems with it. We bought it at Harbor Freight at a discount. So maybe it was a blessed one.
