They could truely act in those days. Today they need technology to make a film. Such a shame, but proud to have been of the generation that had and saw it all.
My grandmother and Susan Hayward lived about 2 miles apart when Susan moved to Georgia. My grandmother said she was very sweet lady who drove a jeep everywhere with a scarf over her hair.
What a fab movie first time I have watched it Charlton Heston was a superb actor. As was the lovely Susan Hayward both great in this movie a great cast too
I saw this movie as a child, which startedAnd àln intese intrest in the story of Rachel and Andrew Jackson. I saw a picture of the Hermitage their home near Nashville TENNESSEE. I naggied my parents until they took me and my brother to see it. I found out that there had been three houses, first two cabins then a two story brick house which burned while he was president. The current house a Greek REVIVAL iis the final house Mrs.Jackson never saw this version it was built after the fire Mrs. Jackson died before his first inauguration. Andrew Jackson mourned her loss the rest of his life.
Mr. Andrew Jackson, born March 15,1767 inWaxhaw Mr Andrew Jackson, born March 15, 1767 in Waxhaw, South Carolina. The 7 US President 1829-1837..Married to Rachel Donelson in 1791 and remarried her again in 1794.The first US president to have been a prisoner of war and the first to ever use the railroad. Many more of his interesting history. He lived to be 78 and died in Nashville, Tennessee. Wish to have more movies about past leaders of many countries. Indeed a good historical movie. Thank you for sharing.
@norwolf4765 ever saw a comedian imitate Brad Pitt or Tom hsnks no distinction amongst the two of them not like james cagney or John Wayne rich little could of done them both not the other two
The older woman who played Susan Haywards mother was the same woman who played James Csgney s mother when he was Cody Jarrett in the classic crime film White Heat
I do not mean to put Heston's acting ability down at all. Every actor finds their "niche". Hayward had already performed in twelve feature films by 1941. By 1953, when this film came out. Her acting ability had already established her as a lead actress. She carried Heston in this film. By 1953, Hayward had forty-one feature movies to her credit. Heston, in his own right, continued after Susan had retired. Just a small bit of FYI
Just pulled it up, as I remember, he killed a man in a duel, for insulting his wife, Susan. I consider President Jackson to be one of the most important Presidents in American history, the things he did. Lots of people hated him for it.
The movies dose'nt depends upon the good actors or actress. But it depends upon the good, and the bad directors who direct the movies. Likewise good people are living in a good life, and the bad ones are living like an animal on this earth, that don't know that anytime they May get hurts in their life's. Film goes well and their drama goes like the true lovers on this earth. ❤. Ha--aa 😂. Bravo!!!
The actresses were all so much more beautiful then, no makeup, no tats everywhere, had class, and none of the self mutilation that so many in hollywierd think is now requisite, and just all round from within themselves possessed everything that makes a woman truly beautiful
A consecuencia de la muerte de su esposa, cualquier tipo que calumniase o hablará mal de una mujer en su presencia, obtenía la enemistad feroz del Viejo Nogal.
In a time when womens honor was held high in society...and also people of bad intent to ruin good christian hearted people. Funny how some things change while others never change one bit.
Fascinating movie, historically correct in content. But one thing galls me: the attitude towards and treatment of American Indians! Referred to as “marauding Indians”, and viewed as savages, THEY were the settlers, WE were the savages.
Absolutely beautiful love story. Privilege to watch such great actors ❤
Beautiful actors. It's a pleasure to watch old films!Thank you.
I was reading the history of Andrew Jackson as I watched this, really well done!
Two of Hollywood's most beautiful people. Incredible acting, wonderful movie about our heritage. ❤

Andrew Jackson, a true warrior. Loved deep, hated hard. No better friend and no worse enemy. Perfect? Not by a long shot, but a giant just the same.
One of the most beautiful movies that I have watched. Thanks for posting!
A Gr8 Movie and Gr8 Acting People who enjoyed Life and cared about what Movies they made ❤
Shame to see the good actors are nearly all gone these new young actors you wouldn’t bother to watch

So good!
When Jackson speaks, I hear Moses....
Me 2
I know, same inflections.
They didn't wear their hair open like that. If you look at period pictures of that time, they wore their hair pinned up and under a hat
And other things, i'm sure!
Artistic license
By now even the breakfast club is a 50 year old movie
The best ones.
Charlton Heston era lindo demais! Macché beleza física!!!
Ottimo film con charleston Heston nella parte del presidente Jefferson Susan Hayworth e sua moglie già divorziata una volta era uno scandalo ❤❤❤
It is about Andrew Jackson & his wife, Rachel.
This one would be a nightmare for Disney to remake and raceswap the lead actors 😂
Are you saying Andrew Jackson was the Little Mermaid?
Thank god
Great movie & sad.
I was so Glad I got to go to The Hermitage . I got a stable ride in Th Backyard That Jackson Once walked.
Awesome

Good movie
They don't make stars like they used to!!
I do not know if they actually adopted an Indian baby, but I read they adopted a newborn baby from one of her brothers bit not sure as to why.
I got curious about that and just looked it up. Yes, they adopted a Muscogee Creek baby, Lyncoya. He died when he was 16 of tuberculosis.
Oh Heathcliff!
got too many commercials, I'll try again later.
TH-cam premium is to eliminate all the nasty commercials!😉
@@renelecours4397 not giving them a penny!
Totally worth it. . just tolerate the commercials, and keep watching the movie 😊
😂good movie. Not seen it in many years.

Too bad this movie was produced in California. And then it opens near Nashville 1789, an area not yet stolen from Indians.

Along with Andy Jackson.

Whatever.
I love old movies but I can’t bring myself to watch this fantasy that tries to make Andy Jackson a decent man.
