    I was in Portland on july 4th 2009. It was a great time!! Not a Blazers fan but I'm a fan of the game and I like to see guys playing well. Ayton is one of those guys I've just been waiting for to come around cause he's a bad dude!

    I'm excited to see that Ayton Might start playing up to his potential!! He should be one of the best bigs in the league he has the skill set!!!!

    You fail to recognize that Billups wasn't using Ayton early in the year properly. His success comes from Billups literally having no where else to turn offensively given injuries and horrific shooting from Ant, Scoot, Murray, Sharpe prior to injury, all others. Ayton could have been leverage this way all season. This wasn't an Ayton thing, its the main problem with the Blazers, awful coaching

    • @BlazersUprise
      @BlazersUprise  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A big part of it is on Ayton to cut to open space, roll harder to the rim, and seal stronger in the post to get the ball. He's also getting more putbacks.

      @richardr4730 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your reply. I just think the entire early season coaches were focused offensively entirely on all other players. Ayton wasn't engaged becuz he wasn't included in the flow of the offense, now he is - as mentioned, guards are now looking for him. He's an insane shooter for a traditional Center. It's an advantage. @@BlazersUprise

    Ayton has the body of a Bahamian god, but his body always seems so stiff.
    He doesn't seem to extend his arms all the way. His hook shots look more like a shotput technique because he doesn't extend his arm fully and flick the shot. Likewise, his jumpers are in front of his head, which means he needs to elevate over his defender if defended up close (instead of if the jumper was released further above or behind his head, like Kevin McHale).
    Likewise, his hips seem stiff and unable to rotate quickly. And he doesn't seem to want to extend his legs. So when posting up and going for a turnaround jumper or hook shot, instead of sealing his man off by opening his hips and extending his legs, he barely gets past his man with a half-hearted seal attempt. Instead of getting his feet set properly for a consistent jump shot or hook, his feet seem all over the place, which is partly why his post-up jumpers and hooks seem so inconsistent.
    For me, his closest comp is David Robinson. Both had that sort of passive disengaged look to their game, but Robinson ran like the dickens for fast-break layups and had an exceptional first step in his face-up game. DR's jump shot was unorthodox that he could get off quickly facing up, and he didn't have much of a back-to-basket post game compared with Ewing, Shaq, or Olajuwon.

    Believe me, he had stretches like this as a Sun. He hears one thing that doesn't sit right and it's back to AWOL on defense. I wish I could say "you now have one of the four most physically skilled big men in the league who's going to do this all the time" but.....there are reasons you got him for a song, and you've already experienced a few of them

    the hardest thing in the life for a journalist : doing some apologize. The team had bigger problems than ayton , a headless chicken playmaking with scoot, horse blinders for sharpe and grant , an upside down management who gave the leadership to the youngest guys of the team... As a center ayton is not a 2x crossover-behind-the-back-pull-up-from-the-logo kind of player he needed to receive the ball in his spots & you don't feel harsh to fall on him when he had 5to10 balls to negociate all the first months. Between a supportive teammate (DA) & an arrogant pug (booker) ,you also choose your side without digging . Excuse me for my approximate language.

    Ayton finally playing down hill and being aggressive and demanding the ball vs being Passive and disappearing. I also think the Blazer guards are doing a better job of getting him the ball in ways that make it easier for him to score. Ayton needs to act like a no.1 Receiver that says throw me the Damn ball. Blazers need to be like Tom Brady and get him the Damn ball in the right places to make it easier to him to score.

    Look at the tails of two halves of the season. He wasn’t used as a second option in the first half. Had a healthy sharpe, Grant plus a rookie leading the offense.
    After the all star break he’s the second option, healthier and showing what he can bring.
    It’s funny how he’s considered a draft bust yet helped a Suns team how was hot trash to a finals run LOL people seems to forget the team wasn’t winning games. Being drafted over Luka is the worst thing

      It’s funny how it works though lol no one brings up who was guarding holiday or especially Middleton.
      The lacked size why they sign McGee/Bizz that off season

      no offense bro but you really gotta be biased to not understand the issues with ayton, he's never gonna win you a championship even as a second option cuz dude has consistently ON CAMERA bitched and complained about being criticized. He has chucked passes out of bounds and missed easy layups and get's cooked on defense and gets mad at anyone and everything but himself. Outside of basketball he doesn't even care to work on his game so any "dominant" game you see is the same shit he's done his whole career, it's not new or improvement, he literally just tries some games and others he tunes everything out and is just there.

      @@greatestever4824 I’m a Suns fan and I know he has his issues but which player doesn’t?? We can rip every players flaws. Everyone know this Portland wasn’t going to accomplish much. When it mattered in the first playoff run to the finals he was instrumental. Worse thing for him was being picked before Luka!! No one brings up the others in that draft .

    Don't believe what you are seeing. Being a Suns fan and living in AZ, I have seen DA play a lot of ball. He will do this. He'll have a stretch of games where he is balling. Playing physical, defending, getting boards and scoring. Then his play will fall off to where he'll have games of single digit points and boards. I hope that he gets it and becomes the player that we all thought he would be, because with his talent and ability the sky is the limit. However, he just doesn't have the mindset required to get there.
