- My cover of Elton John's Tonight from the Blue Moves album, one of my favourite albums of all time (hence why it's on my wall, haha). This song means a lot to me and has provided me much comfort, and is also an incredible composition with an orchestral arrangement done by James Newton Howard. I hope you'll enjoy my piano & vocal cover of it!

My best friend (who has now passed) introduced me to Elton’s Live in Australia album, where I first heard this song. I’ve always wondered why no one seems to play this song- glad to find someone who did.
I’m a lifelong (50 years) EJ fan. You’ve done a great job on this masterpiece. ❤
Nice work, Jack. Not an easy song to do. Been a fellow of Elton since 1974, and even had the honour of working on the Wembley Stadium concern he did in 1976. This has to be my favourite of theirs songs too.

Yanno, this was my mommas favourites (next to Indian Sunset)... I so wish I could have have played them both to her so well before she passed at 57 my friend. I can’t stop listening to this man!!!!

@@PianoManJack thank you... it does get easier to lose a parent, time is a great healer- cliche yes. But true. That’s why everyone should hug their moms today and tell them how much you love them. Their love for us is unconditional (usually!). I didn’t get that, until it were too late :(

I must leave a comment. Obliged this is one of my favorite Elton song. Not only do you play well, like this immense artist, I repeat. But it's amazing the talent you have, it's pure Elton John, it's him, it's a perfect replica. In addition I completely forgot to tell you that you sing, but then really very very very well, your voice is incredible. If you had composed these songs, I'm sure you would have the same success. Frankly you really moved me Jack. You are a huge artist and your concerts that I have seen in extracts prove it, not to mention your videos which are of unparalleled quality. I'd be happy to watch your entire playlist this weekend. There is also a our song that I loved and it is the one that allowed me to know you. Someone Saved My Life Tonight.

The Moscow 79 is my favourite live version of this song! So much emotion. That's definitely my favourite live concert archive of Elton's; I love that piano/percussion mix with Ray Cooper so much!

I remember on January 14, 1998 after the elton concert at the Ritz hotel in Paris my best friend offered me a gift to thank me for inviting him c was a k7 for walkman of the integrality of the concert in moscow of 1979 I cried with emotion listening to that I'm now looking for a voice like that
Jason Isbell, Coldplay are two of my favourite modern artists (that aren't in the hip hop category). They both have incredibly unique and beautiful voices in my opinion, plus they write really emotionally powerful songs

Really great cover! One of my favorites from Elton John. Congrats! You deserve it. You nailed this song perfectly on the technical level, piano and vocal wise, and you did it while conveying the feeling of the original tune. It is really a great version. The Blue Moves album is such an underrated album. In Australia, during the live concert with the Melbourne Symphony (1985 I think), Elton John told that even though critics bashed the album, it remained one of his favorites. I actually am of the same opinion. I would rank the best Elton John’s albums in this manner:
1 - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
2 - Blue Moves
3 - Captain Fantastic
4 - Madman Across the Water
5 - Elton John (from 1970)
He was on fire in the 70s. Everything he composed was gold

I love that one! Cage The Songbird is such an amazing song, lyrically and melodically. The guitar work is so beautiful and that haunting chorus always leaves me with shivers. And Taupin's lyrics are so poetic as always :)

How did you learn to play this? i was wondering because it’s hard to figure it out by just looking at the chords.
I just learned it by ear a few years ago and tried tweaking it over time. I believe now there's a helpful synthesia tutorial of it on TH-cam, though!

Not bad man, the nice thing about Elton John songs they are easy to play i never found his arrangements difficult but very catchy, try a software piano like Ivory very good tone quality.

Almost all of his arrangements are fun to play! And yes, I've been working on my original music lately, I'll post more updates about it later on the channel (likely around August/September) :)
They are fairly easy if you stick to the studio version, but if you want to play them the way he does during live sessions, specialy when playing solo, it gets really tough to workout what he is doing since he plays very improvisational and never plays a same thing twice.
