    Brief history of the nests:
2016 Woodland Trust acquire the Loch Arkaig ancient Caledonian rainforest remnant and manage it in partnership with Arkaig Community Forest.
2017 A nest cam is installed on a refurbished Osprey nest. A young male Louis and a young female Aila take up residence and raise one male chick to fledging: Lachlan JH4. 2018 Louis & Aila return but a Pine Marten steals all their eggs.
2019 Louis & Aila return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Mallie JJ0 and Rannoch JJ2.
2020 Louis & Aila return and raise two male and one female chicks to fledging: Doddie JJ6; Vera JJ8 and Captain JJ7.
2021 Louis returns but sadly Aila doesn't. Louis takes up residence on a new nest with a new mate Dorcha and they raise two male chicks to fledging: Aspen LW3 and Alder LW4. This is designated Nest Two, no one takes up residence on Nest One.
2022 Woodland Trust install a nest cam on Nest Two. Louis & Dorcha return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Willow LW5 and Sarafina LW6. Still no residents on Nest One.
2023 Louis & Dorcha return, and raise one male chicks to fledging: Ludo LY7. No residents on Nest One but male Garry LV0 spent a lot of time flirting with Affric 152 despite her mate Prince still being around.
The Woodland Trust nest cam was installed by Wildlife Windows in Arkaig Community Forest, it is funded by The People's Postcode Lottery and operates on wifi provided by Locheilnet. Watch the livestream 24/7.

Oh dear, thanks Geemeff this is so out of character for Louis, and sad to watch ! There are so many if only. If theyd have just waited longer for 1st egg pushing all others longer giving weather a chance to improve, on a human thought do they blame each other for loss of chicks ? They must be aware because neither has removed bodies so they have just disappeared 😢 all sad to watch but also hopefully wildlife trust are learning more about the Ospreys ❤

Louis had stopped providing fish before the chicks were removed. That is why they were removed. Doesn't mean Louis doesn't blame her though. Wasn't there an earlier chick that Dorcha removed, dead? Could it be was the cause of Louis' non performance? Question is, will they come next year or will Dorcha dump him for another.

Thank you for the update on the two chicks...I bet Dorcha wondered what Louis was doing flying over her head ?

Is it possible that Louis blames Dorcha for Bob 1,2 disappearing

No, birds do not think this way - The kids disappeared and that's it!

He let the little family down and now he’s letting Dorcha down…his behaviour resulted in the chicks being taken away.
It maybe time to find a better mate in the future Dorcha. 😢

Bit harsh, it's been explained, conditions bad for fishing due to weather and the poor bird has probably hurt itself trying, always provided well in the past and Dorcha knows that so will stick with him. Unfortunately they will also be confused with the chicks being removed.
