I’ve been living in America my whole life and never have heard of disco fries
Right?
I grew up on melted cheese fries occasionally with bacon but disco fries are unheard of for me and im from New Jersey and my Family is all from PA and NYC
Same here, never heard of disco fries and I lived in all 3 states she mentioned
@@MARCM0DE you're from Jersey and never heard of disco fries?! Wow
I grew up right outside of philly on the jersey side and DAMN do I freaking love disco fries
@@FitFoxxyMama well to be fair alot of things I didn't know that tri state area people do like for example I didn't know that hotdogs people didn't put ketchup on it
The American chick went out of her way to be super rude. Made the Canadian come across as much more endearing
Temzy17 Really? I felt the opposite. It seemed like the Canadian girl was going out of her way to be rude and catty
@@AK-jt7kh how was she rude?
the two were having a contest for who could seem more snarky
@@AK-jt7kh yeah, how was the Canadian being rude??😂
@@AK-jt7kh Um that American girl literally insulted Canada's fries while the Canadian girl was very positive
when that girl kept saying bad stuff about poutine i felt so angry
~a fellow canadian
As an American,I felt offended.
It seems so good!
She's probably just biased cause she's American and wants to win. But at the same time it is her own opinions I'm sure for other people they're great.
I was ready to fight her when she said poop to the Canadian poutine!! It’s FOOD
Not sure if it was to play up the whole Canadians are more polite, Americans more rude stereotype. But it was just a joke I mean saying it looks like poo-tine is just plain juvenile (nothing serious I guess).
Hi i felt offended and i'm not even american. I'm european looool
Disco fries sounds like the “poutine” at Canadian restaurants that don’t carry cheese curds.
USA has no cheese curds from what i know..
Thecanadianwitch I meant at Canadian restaurants, guess I should have clarified, but that’s too bad they don’t have cheese curds.
@@Thecanadianwitch I bought some in de pere Wisconsin when I went to a Packers game last year. Delicious. They have all kinds of flavoured cheese curds you can literally just pop in your mouth and hear the squeak. Haha. De pere sounds very french....
@@ljlj-os8gl so true. I don't mind a good mozzarella and cheddar mix with a good beef gravy on fries. But definitely true.
Haha like the poutine that pizza place sell
poutine in canada is a tradition
Not Canada ...... Quebec ..( Cheese curds are just in Quebec . Other provinces use Mozzarella )
@@jeremyalexander9761 it was just a comment bud
and disco fries in america are never heard of
Is it weird that I have never tried poutine and I'm candian?
Ya ik it is. 😅
Québec Redneck I live in Ontario and I’ve been eating poutine for the last 15 years, and I’ve always had poutine with cheese curds, I’ve never heard of poutine with mozzarella, that sounds weird 🤮
I loved the Canadian girl! Thank you for saying “poutine” and “fromage en grain” like a french Canadian😝
I just loved hearing it😅😜
@Matty Bruno Lucas Zenere Salas What does that mean?
@Matty Bruno Lucas Zenere Salas oh really? it sounded nice though
I can't help but remember omellete du fromage
Matty Bruno Lucas Zenere Salas Je pense que tu y vas trop dans les détails😅 I thought the way she said it was perfect, as a French Canadian, but you have your own opinion and that’s good, I respect it!
Love how the Canadian girl wasn’t dissing the Americans dish👌🏼wooo canada and poutine is #1
I’m from Canada and I hate poutine...
But yay Canada!
From America but I agree
@@natalyaporter5730 I’m sorry but I think we’re gonna need to deport you..
But yay Canada!
Yes
The only way this video could be a more realistic depiction of Canada vs America would be if the American girl broke out some sugar packets and poured them on top of her food.
Bruh I’m Canadian and when she said cheese poop I was offended. like bruh stop
In Quebec we often call them "fromage en crotte", so she wasn't THAT offensive...

Unfortunately my own people are like that .but I love my Canadians ❤🇨🇦 you guys are more educated than us
Emily is really annoying and honestly, no one has heard of disco fries.
I doubt she came up w the idea for this vid
Would prefer poutine over that any day
But they’re more of a drunk 3am diner trip food, rather than a normal good food. I much prefer poutine if I’m sober and like getting it as a side somewhere before 3 am
I lived in NJ all my life and yes disco fries are a thing in the Tri State
I hate Emily
Can't help but thinking that Emily with those stripes looks like a more grown up version of Maya Hawke from Stranger thing in her uniform
All-u-can Kitti Chan definitelyb
All-u-can Kitti Chan honestly same

Jeremy Alexander thats a thing canadians say.. you cant get pressed for someone saying a phrase lol. thats like someone things your rude because of phrases YOU say. like what the heck
Jeremy Alexander and the american was being so rude, so instead of wasting a minute of your life writing a rude comment about something a person said one time, and was actually so sweet the rest of the time, maybe actually spend your time writing a rude comment about the person that was actually rude..? i dont know, just an idea!
I feel like people who review food on TH-cam are always eating it cold. You can’t accurately review fries with cheese and gravy, served cold. Everyone knows fries are gross cold.
On another note, I grew up in New York and have never heard of disco fries. We have diners here too.
It depends on where in NY you're from.
It's a thing on the border of Canada, in PA and NY.
College towns like Ithaca & Rochester have them.
The lower Hudson Valley has them at most diners (sometimes in a weird part of the menu)
and then PA's northern edge has them in a lot of diners, along with finding them randomly in NJ and MA and other North Eastern states.
Yeah, and they didn't seem to be using the right fries or gravy for either one. The recipes for these are so simple, why even bother to make the video if you're not going to do it right.
agree with this statement poutine look horrible, but i know for a fact these can be so good, never try disco fries, something on my bucket list now
A decent shooting ratio is about 12:1 (probably lower for Buzzfeed). Those ARE cold fries that have probably been out for about a half hour.
@@tiacho2893 I didn't know that. That's a cool fact! Do you vlog?
My point is that it would have been better to just shoot the reaction to hot fries and do cuts. Obviously Buzzfeed is very successful so I shouldn't be the one to criticize, but the way the tides are turning in media marketing right now, it would be better for them to start prioritizing content that feels more genuine and less well-polished and carefully orchestrated. People are getting tired of, and much better at recognizing the difference between real photos and footage, and heavily edited media productions.
When it comes to the fries, people click the video to see real reactions to the food. As the audience becomes more and more aware of the media process, they become more disenchanted with overdone videos, and it damage the brand trust of a business like Buzzfeed. Just my personal opinion :)
Shoot the real reactions to properly prepared food, and cut the fluff. Or buy & heat several orders of fries to trade out.
as a Quebecer, I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF PRONUNCIATION OF OUR DISH
I love it because her pronunciation is SO Quebec and not French French.
Yes
Yessss! I'm a Montrealer and bilingual but the English pronunciation just sounds so wrong and gross
RIGHT?!
@Bla Blu Yup! They're written the same but the vowels sound different. In fact, in French French, it would be pronounced the "English way."
🤦🏽♂️they should’ve put Chilli cheese fries for US
Chili cheese fries are disappointing on so many levels.
Not necessarily I grew up in the southwest where they made the chili in house and let me tell you I've tried Disco Fries now it's an app for chili fries over that
How about fries?
@@christophermorin9036 not really
I think they were comparing those two because they are essentially the same thing. But cheese curds are delicious.
Canada has the best fries but THAT is the worst looking poutine I've ever seen.
I demand a redo.
Same lmaoo
kodaspaws yeah redone with La Banguise’s poutine,
Those were the coldest looking disco fries. I think buzzfeed equally messed up the dishes.
I’ve always wanted to try poutine (I’m from Texas actually)
America doesn't claim that girl
Poutine is superiror.
I'm an American.
Poutine is way better. I’m from Québec 🤷🏻♂️
I agree but I'm canadian.
@David Graves TrEaSoN 😂 I'm joking I don't even live in America nor am I American either
My bf would actually love disco fries as he prefers the cheese shredded.
But I'm team poutine all the way. 🇨🇦
@@baconsquad1450 yup. I'm from nyc but I've been to Montreal 3 tes and every time, I always go for the Poutine and Tim Hortons the first day I arrive there lol. But we have some Tim Hortons here though and I think some parts of the state has poutine, especially near the Canadian border.
“Disco fries represent America”
Me (California): -laughs in animal fries-
I mean Canada gifted us with Poutine sooooo this is pretty much one sided
should of picked a different american to represent us she was lowkey rude lmao
Idk they probably picked her because americans are stereotyped as rude and they got a nice canadian
High key rude*** she tried her best to come across as rude as possible.
I’m from Canada but the way SHE says pou-tine is soooo adorable 🤧
correctly?
I'm from NB and that's how we say it... People who say "pouteen" are saying it incorrectly!
@Alexandre Campeau vrai ☺️
I was told from several Canadians that it is prounounced Pou-teen. 🤷🏻♀️

She sounded quite rude to me too 😔 A little disappointing honestly.
Yeah.. shes being rude and no one knows what fricken disco fries are.
I agree she was very rude. I am American and she made us look bad also I never heard of disco fries
Why she said she actually really liked the food and decided poutine one? And said she loved canada? People are being too harsh.

27% Emily is so Rude
3% of the comments that Poutine look awful

When they played the squeak sound effect I took a bite of my food and I thought it was me😂
Poutine for the win! So happy to have a true Montrealer representing Poutine in the challenge!! I always say it would be a million $ ideal to have a poutine food truck Disco fries does not compare!
They got the Poutine from a poutine truck! It says it in the description

The worst landing beaches were taken on by the US.
I am from Virginia, and I love poutine! I wish it was easier to find around here. I haven't had disco fries in about 40 years, which we didn't call disco fries when it was actually the disco period in history, but we had them.
Is it just me or does Emily remind you of Gina from Brooklyn 99
Billy Law Oh my, for real.
I’ve literally never heard of disco fries
cheese curds is cheddar cheese before it's been pressed into wheels, tastes like a very mild, fresh cheddar. the squeakier the better!
Disco fries seem very regional in the US, however it goes by other names like wet fries or fries with gravy. I think a more competitive version would have been chili cheese fries.
Those fries look like trash I'll make you some bacon cheese fries we'll see which wins
MARCM0DE how can they even say cheese and gravy is better than bacon and cheese like wth
Yumm
And where you think that bacon comes from
Yup Canada lol
xxGALACTIKWARxxBEATSxx I’m sure he’s not talking about that ham you guys call “bacon”
Bacon doesn't make it better. Add pastrami.
Canada. No need to watch the video.

“A french fry salad” 😂
The American girl kinda looks like Gabbie Hanna
Poutine helps my hangovers 100% usually from A&w cause thats the only fast food restaurant in my tiny town....
sometimes I throw some Franks Red Hot Sauce on it. 🤤
I'm so sorry. A&W poutine is trash but. Get what you can amirite? Unless the sauce is brown and completely opaque it's not worthy of being called poutine.
@@1MrPooney Au Pied de Cochon makes a killer poutine that is made with fois gras pan sauce. It is a splurge when I am in Montreal.
try tabasco on it instead of franks, somehow the vinegar base works really well
Why so much talking

Eat it

Why do I think the both fries are the same: fries, cheese, gravy
Structurally it's the same and it's not like they make it only one way in Canada.
in that sense, yes, they are the same. but there are a lot of important differences.. :/
Disco fries: Has gravy and cheese (shreds)
What the heck isn’t that just a ripoff of poutine? America can’t you choose chilli fries or something? They’re basically the same thing. Canada literally only has poutine.
Sorry if I offend them Americans, imma Canadian
As a Canadian I can say any starch with cheese and gravy on it is a knockoff of poutine don't @me lol
I love that she said poutine the french way but quebec the english way
If you're not from Philly or Jersey, you aren't going to know disco fries. They're a late night diner classic. I stand by disco fries!
I think the term "loaded" fries would more represent America
You should do the netherlands with “patatje oorlog” translated “fries war” look it up
The old man bar I go to North of Philly, West of Trenton, NJ has Poutine with Mozzarella instead of cheese curds and delicious Disco fries. You can get their home made Roast Beef with the Poutine and Turkey with the Disco fries!
Y'all gotta go to Sandy's Beef and Ale in Langhorne, PA!!
Kait Campbell I was just watching this video thinking I’ve lived 20 mins from philly and 10 mins from Jersey (Levittown) my whole life and never heard of disco fries. So maybe one of the 5,000 times I pass Sandy’s this week I’ll make a point to try them!
Ofc us canadians win💁🏻♀️😂 okay I'll stop.

Never heard of disco fries tbh ...I've only eaten Asada fries lol
I love it when they insert squeaking sounds whenever they mention the cheese curds. 😂💕
Disco Fries? Uhm? Are those 1970 style fries?
I think it’s called “disco fries” bc u know how everything and everyone looks better in the club....yea I think that’s the only type of people who bought it (wtf is a disco fries like I haven’t heard of it maybe it isn’t a Florida thing)
Mmm I could go for some poutine.
Should have an All-american fries contest... Coming from California, I would put Carne Asada Super Fries or Animal Style fries against anything.
I nearly died *in a good way* when she said Poutine correctly, specially adding the little "s" sound llike "poutsin"

I have never heard of disco fries. I really wanna try poutine.
First time I had Poutine when we where in Maine it is just mind blowing and it is a comfort food for me 😊 I’ve been in the U.S. for more than a decade and yet never heard of disco fries 😅
Coming from Finland - I'm so happy over how sweet you are to each other. And I'm sure I would eat both fries with no problem. :)
We have “poutine” in the north of the uk , we just call it cheesy chips and gravy it’s perfect after nights out
i dont think its the same tbh.. you use specific cheese and gravy in *real* poutine..
