      Yeah, he could have easily disavowed this movie much like Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo did with Super Mario Bros. But he owned it! And even under all that makeup and heavy costuming he was having fun! I’ll always give him props for that!

    This movie was the first movie I ever saw in a theater. I'll never forget it. I was only 4, but I remember standing in line with my Skeletor and Beastman action figures in each hand. I still enjoy it. Frank Langella is the main reason the movie is worth checking out.

    I don't care what anyone says, this is a decent movie for it's genre. Cannon films has a way of making really good movies that people don't give enough credit to. The special effects were great for the time, the action is fantastic, the story of is fun and engaging, the characters are memorable and look great and Langella absolutely hits it out of the ballpark. No kid watches this movie and doesn't have fun with it.

  • @wonderboy76
    @wonderboy76 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    totally disagree with the notion that this movie looks cheap - the effects, sets, costumes and huge vehicles still look amazing and were so much better than anything Cannon had a right to expect. The production design is spectacular.

    FWIW too I have no problem with Dolph's accent. It seems fitting that the main protagonist sounds slightly otherworldly. It gives him gravitas. His voice always went deeper in the cartoon when he transformed into He-Man anyway.

    Masters of the Universe is a great movie. Frank Langella made the movie which he gave a brilliant performance as Skeletor. Trivia: 22:09 The after credits scene wasn't scripted and it was Gary Goddard's idea. Gary Goddard had Frank Langella brought to BOSS Studio. Gary Goddard showed Frank Langella a vat of pink liquid and that he was to get in it, and he was to pop his head out of it and say, "I'll be back!". Frank Langella agreed to do it and it was shot and done in 1 take.

    I remember being mad that they came to Earth when I saw this in theaters.

    I remember first hearing about this movie when I saw a figure for Saurad (sp?) with a sticker that read, “From the new live action movie.” Something like that anyway. But I got so excited! I found a magazine I had to buy that had pics from the movie, behind the scenes artwork, all sorts of cool details except for one: most of the movie was going to take place on Earth! I remember having DREAMS about seeing this I was so excited! Then when they arrived on Earth I was like, “Wut…”
    Still better than that crap Kevin Smith foisted upon us 😂

    If you miss the 80's and didn't even live through them, how am I supposed to feel? What can I say. It was real. All of it. It actually happened.

    This is a great example of how studios have no idea how to adapt an IP to film. Still a fun film, but this was the version of He-Man your grandma found at the dollar store.

    And this came out I was so confused because it seemed like it was picking up somewhere around the cartoon and just made no sense even though visually it's a great film it also proves that low budget film production companies should never tackle major Hollywood size budgets.
