I first saw one on the UK's Top of the Pops, the band Family (who became my favourites) playing their single In My Own Time. Jimmy Page popularised it around the time of LZ4 and in the Song Remains the Same movie. At the time they featured one 12 string and one six string guitar - though I heard at the time they were mainly for show and weren't that practical (something to do with a bleed from one guitar into the other guitar's pickups or something, I don't know). I do still believe that they're used more for their visual appeal (as in this video) rather than for practical reasons - I mean you'd think anything Jimmy Page used would have caught on a lot more, right?

So my English teacher is a music major, and every day he’s having a student play a song of their choice. Being that all the guys played either rap or country, and all the girls played either pop or country, it was a bit of a change of pace when I chose this song. It was the first rock song to be played, and pretty much everyone thought it was good for what it is even though it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, ESPECIALLY my teacher. He LOVED it.
