RESPONSIBILITY OF SCAFFOLDER
A scaffold erector’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Scaffolders shall be aware of scaffold construction requirements.
• Inspecting all scaffold components prior to assembly to ensure that components used are of similar material and in good repair before becoming a part of the completed scaffold.
• Always use full body harness and 100% tie-off shall be followed. Maintaining fall protection requirements while erecting / dismantling scaffolds.
• Erecting scaffolds in accordance with local, state, and federal. Erectors also must abide by all manufacturer recommendations and be capable of erecting scaffolds under the guidance of a competent person.
• Provide safe working platform with minimum two scaffold boards (temporary) to be provided to perform the erection job.
• Ensure anchoring points are available to hook the body harness.
• Shall be responsible for proper stacking of scaffold material at designated place.
• Ensure effective communication among crew members.
• Prior to occupation scaffold erectors must notify the competent person that the scaffold has been erected and is ready to be inspected.
• Training of other scaffold users if needed.
• Contacting and coordinating with the Competent Person regarding any issues associated with the erection of a scaffold.
Contact EHS if there is a concern regarding the erection of the scaffold.
*RESPONSIBILITY OF SCAFFOLDER FOREMEN/SUPERVISOR
• Obtain permit to work and associated JSA & RAMS/MS procedure for the job.
• Conduct TBT and discuss the JSA with the crew.
• You are accountable for the health, safety,
• Proper fall zone to be identified and ensure adequate warning signs and barriers are in place.
• Emergency response procedure shall be discussed among crew.
• All scaffold materials to be inspected prior use. If any damaged material found, then immediately to be removed.
• Design and preplanning of the scaffold including weight limitations, scaffold type, fall protection, tie-offs, supports, etc.
• This requires equal and fair treatment without discrimination
• Involving them in decision-making.
• Ensure your team understands their roles
• Monitor progress by walking the job
• Proper stacking of scaffold material after erection and dismantling.
• Ensure proper housekeeping done after completing the work.
• Ensure modification checklist must be followed.
• Ensure working at height procedure requirements are complied.
RESPONSIBILITY OF SCAFFOLDING INSPECTOR
• Documentation Check:Verify that all necessary permits and documentation are in order.Confirm that the scaffold was erected by a competent person.
• Design Review:Examine the scaffold design to ensure it complies with industry standards and is suitable for its intended use
• Inspection of scaffold - Before Initial Use/ After Assembly or Modification/ After Adverse Weather Conditions/ Prior to Handover or Transfer
• Weekly inspection of erected scaffold and renewal of Scaff tag.
• Daily visual inspection of erected scaffold
• Ensure all scaffold material used are in good condition
• Maintain scaffold inspection log
• Maintain adequate number of Scaff tag and holders are in stock.
• Training of other competent persons, scaffold erectors, and users.
