The Alpine Mountain Glacier Village Grindelwald is one of the best places to visit in Switzerland! [Switzerland Video 2020]
This travel video is part of a series of Switzerland vlogs in 4K Ultra HD (which also are my Switzerland travel diary) and will hopefully provide some answers to these and more questions you may have: What do you go see in Switzerland and what is the Switzerland travel experience? What to do in Switzerland in summer and what are the best places to stay in Switzerland? What to do in the Swiss Alps and what are the best places to visit in Switzerland? Where do I go in Switzerland and what can I see in Switzerland? These and more questions will be answered in this video series on my Switzerland Tour 2020 videos.
Are you planning to travel Switzerland and are curious about what is the best travel experiences in Switzerland and what to do in the Swiss Alps? My travel diary on what to do in Switzerland in Summer will provide some inspiration. Grindelwald and the surrounding villages in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland certainly were on my travel bucket list for quite a while and I was thrilled to finally go there. I had high expectations and Grindelwald not only met but exceeded my expectations in so many ways. This small mountain village is truly one of the best places to visit in Switzerland. In this video I will talk a bit about my first impressions and provide some background and hopefully useful tips for your Switzerland travel to Grindelwald.
Grindelwald Switzerland is one of the most beautiful glacier mountain villages in Switzerland and a popular tourist destination for travelers from around the world. It is also one of best places to stay in Switzerland. What makes Grindelwald such a special travel destination? Its secret may be the tremendous diversity of the landscape, the majestic mountains that provide the backdrop of the glacier village. The most prominent mountain of this unique alpine landscape is of course the Eiger with the famous Eiger North face.
But it is also the diversity of recreational activities amidst of unspoiled nature that makes Grindelwald such an attractive travel destination in Switzerland. In the winter, the surrounding mountains invite you to go down the ski slopes of the First mountain or the Maennlichen and Kleine Scheidegg. In the summer, these slopes turn to beautiful lush green meadows where cows graze throughout the day. The ringing of the cow bells accompanied me throughout my hikes in and around Grindelwald.
You can get to Grindelwald by car and train. The drive from Interlaken takes about 45 minutes. There is a also very convenient train connection to Interlaken via the Bernese Oberland railways. Once you are in Grindelwald, everything is pretty much in walking distance. But there is also an excellent bus transport infrastructure available.

Ski trip here in 1974. Ski lift broke down and we hiked to the next chairlift. A most memorable walk in ski boots! I’ll always remember the beauty in that region! From Vancouver Island.

I was lucky enough to be on a tour and we spent several days in beautiful Switzerland and saw so many things. I would love to go back someday. The beauty of the country is astounding. Seeing the Matterhorn up close was something I had dreamed of seeing since I was a small boy and now that is checked off my bucket list. LOVE Switzerland!!

Hi Lee. Did you fly into Zurich? Looking for the cheapest way to get there from the airport. I got quoted over £700 private hire taxi Looking at getting the train.
@@thegiftedone2 It is totally possible to travel between Zurich and the Airport by train. I bought the Swiss Travel Pass which allowed me to travel freely on most train lines for 7-14 days.

@@lillic8522 wow, I can imagine it’s quite a different atmosphere when it’s cloudy and rainy. I tried to time my time there to have sunny weather and luckily it worked out. But weather is always a bit of a gamble in the mountains 😊

The cable car was like the equivalent of 40 us dollars, but it was the best cable car I've ever been on. So worth it to get up higher in the mountains to explore more.

We also visited Switzerland during Spring. ❤️We did a video of our visit as well. We stayed in Lucerne and travelled by bus to Interlaken and Grindelwald to have the best view of the Swiss Alps. Its really very nice. Everything is so clean and laid back. Feels like we are in a movie scene. Every angle looks like a postcard. 😍😍😍
o wow this is the exact trip I was envisioning of doing in the fall! Were these usually day trips where you could go back to your hotel in Lucerne? Or you stayed at each town? How long were the bus rides?
@@twixotic04 Lucerne is a good starting point for daytrips. It's about 1.5h trip to Interlaken and Grindelwald. Personally I think 3 hours ride back and forth in a day is a bit much if not needed, and would prefered staying a couple of days in Grindelwald region. It's one of, or possible the most beautiful region of Switzerland
