Quite the experience to witness/photograph this a couple of times in RMNP.. Amazing watching the bull guide/shepherd them around! One of my fav's to try and shoot.

In my humble South Texas opinion, Steve, this is some of your finest work. I had the opportunity to photo some Grand Teton bulls in a snowstorm this October first. That made me appreciate the complexity of your pictures even more.

Steve, mad respect for you! The intro was very beautiful and you made it look easy. I dream about visiting your neck of the woods and have the opportunity to be afforded the scenery and subjects that you can shoot every day. Great work and thanks for sharing.

hi Steve. of course we love the video and the dramatic images and we do realize how difficult it is to put it all together. i think that's where we met in early October at willow flats meadow in a snow squall. i was lucky enough too, to capture a snowy elk scene. best of luck in Africa. danny

Thanks so much for sharing your visually stunning experiences!!! I do love that you talk about the technical side of the photos too. After all, that is the point for some of your fans.

Great shots and I like your approach to this video. Normally I enjoy being "out in the field" but this highlighted your thought process with settings, etc. in order to capture the image in adverse lighting conditions as well as paying attention to the often overlooked position of the animal itself. Also, nice use of the panos to capture the entire harem.

I've recently subscribed to your channel and have been going through all of your videos. I am already learning so much from you and I have been trying to put some of that into practice. I don't have the wonderful landscape and wildlife opportunities in my part of California that you have in Wyoming, but if I ever make it back to Jackson Hole I hope to sign up for one of your workshops. Keep inspiring me Steve!

I absolutely love the sights and sounds of the Elk Rut. A few years ago, late in the evening, I was on the stairs of the Post Office in Mammoth Hot Springs enjoying the dark starry sky, when out of nowhere, two large bull elk appeared and began furiously sparring less than 30 yards from where I was sitting. They were fighting so fiercely that it made me realize that I was in a slight pickle. Completely exposed and vulnerable. All of a sudden there was a pause in the action and the larger, and angrier, bull looked over at me and began walking toward me as if I was another bull challenging his authority. Fortunately for me, in what seemed like hours but was closer to a few seconds, the other bull decided he wasn't done, and once again, challenged the slightly larger bull. They proceeded to lock antlers and moved further and further from my position. Needless to say, I got the #%@& out of there immediately !!! Amazing how quickly a situation can go from quiet and peaceful to the extreme opposite. BTW, nice images, Steve.

Wow! Wasn't it a challenge stitching a pano with (potentially) moving subjects like those elk cows? Were they that stationary? If not, how did you avoid weird artifacts? Thanks. Great images!
