  • A hill top village Barpak is situated at an altitude of 1900 meters in Gorkha. It is quite a famous village in Gorkha which is situated in the lap of the Buddha Himal.
    It was historically important as it sat on the trail for salt trading between Tibet and Nepal. Barpak was also the epicenter of devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 in 2015. However, the village has raised itself once again from the rubble.
    Dhike Dada, Lho, Laprak, Chumchet and Lakhan Thapa Gaon are some of the popular villages nearby to hike to and enjoy mesmerizing views of the Himalayan range and perfect sunset and sunrise.
    It is the starting point for the Mount Manaslu and Mount Ganesh trekking route.
    Temples like Gorakh Nath, Gorakh Kali Temple, Gorkha Temple.
    Community homestay is available and visitors can experience the culture, traditions and warm hospitality of the Barpak people.
    Wild honey and traditional local alcohol is some of the unique things of the village.
    Getting there
    The village is connected to Kathmandu via the Prithivi Highway through Abukhaireni. The road leads to Barah kilo to Baluwa. The village is 177.4kms from Kathmandu and can take upto 5 to 6 hours by local bus to Abukhaireni and then trek via Mandre to the village. Regular buses and vans are available to reach the village from the capital.
