  • MISTAKE!!
We say the answer is C but then cross it off. YES, the answer is C. Thanks to everyone who found the mistake, thought the question through, and pointed it out! Appreciate the accountability.
This video goes through an NPTE practice question for the cardiopulmonary category. We review the question from the previous week (that we left off with in the “How to Choose Pulmonary Interventions on the NPTE” video).

My question has to do with where the patient leaned 30 degrees forward for the drainage
Was it to clear the posterior segment of the upper lobes?
If that's the case then why would the answer be C?
Because it only focused on the apical segment .
This confusion is due to the fact that the books have never been consistent with the drainage positions. Some use both 30 degrees forward lean and recline positions for apical segment drainage. Whereas others use the 30 degrees forward lean for posterior segment of the upper lobes.
If I'm sure both the 30 degrees forward and recline positions are for the apical segment then C will be right.
But if the 30 degrees forward lean was for posterior segments of the upper lobe then I would go for B because C only mentions apical segment breathing training.

@RichmondSarpong You bring up great points, because this is confusing. The upper lobes contain the apical segments, anterior segments, and posterior segments. You are correct, that the leaning forward is best for the posterior segment. The question only tells us about the upper lobes, and since the apical segment is the only option in the answers that is a part of the upper lobes, this is where answer C is more applicable than answer B.
