Had an F15 40d, 2018 from new. What a good car, swapped for a new 2021 G05 X5 40i which was even better. Kids left home now so gone smaller into an X3 M40i and this is the best of the three. Stunning performance and all the space!
I‘m thinking about buying an X5 40d but for towing only. Have a nice individual 7series and I don‘t know if I‘ll be sad if I sell it for a small X5. At which mileage did you sell yours and did the timing chain already make the very unnoticable grinding noises nearly all N57s have?
I have a wonderful E70 40D. Had it for 10 years and it's given me wonderful service. I'm looking for a good high mileage F15 50D, but taking my time to find the right one.
Great review mate. I am nowadays looking for one but am quite worried about reliability issues. Would you be kind enough to do a reliability review of the same 30d m sport Xdrive!
I owned one from 65k km to 115km, no single issue except air bag for rear suspensions which could be replaced free under warranty. Very reliable car with proper maintenance
I was yearning for an X5 but didn't get one ultimately because Barrie Crampton said the M sport suspension sucked and was too harsh for a luxury vehicle.
So I just bought an M50D F15. And I'm so pleased with it! The comfort seats are like sitting in 1st class. The ride is firm but not harsh, helps give confidence in the twisties. I much prefer this to the floaty boat sensation of the air suspensions which feel too wallowly in corners. Best thing is the tech. Far better than in an equivalent RRS or Cayenne.
In comparison to the RRS you have does this X5 3litre have any of the same issues as the Range Rover ie any engine issue with the 3litre and suspension issues ( bushes and control arms)
My 2015 had prop shaft snap and go thru gearbox casing recently, 100k on clock. I rung bmw national begged for help told them i just paid 21k for the car 3 months ago ive 4 kids and bought this for the 7 seats this is ridiculous for a high end car not too old, apparently the weak propshaft is known issue on previous gen and actualy had a recall in US only, i mentioned this. Long story short BMW paid for the damage and fit new gearbox, prop shaft, transfer box and wiring harness totaling around £17k 😮. I bought the car from a car sales place not BMW and Obviously the car wasnt under warranty. All I can say is BMW were fantastic.. this was almost my worst car experience in my life 😂 Thank FK BMW stepped up.. just be aware
@nasdriver3583 their discretion ultimately, but I wonder if they know there's an issue with prop Shafts on them same as the previous gen which had the recall on them. Maybe they are quietly helping ppl rather than a full blown recall.? Mine also had the air suspension compressor go and after that one of the bags , I replaced the bag myself bought a pair so have a spare I the other goes. Timing chain is my next worry 😂
@@condorprestigevehicles well it's almost 300€ cheaper than non adblue version but stil way too much. Nothin wrong with the x5 but we just need to live with that bs tax...

Brilliant review & I have also got the same f15 x5 30d sapphire black
Hi, can I ask how you've found the car in terms of reliability? Have you had many major mechanical faults and has it been expensive to own?
I got the same car. It’s perfect👌🏽👍🏽👏🏽🍻

I have the 2017 X5 xDrive35i with M Sport and I love it. I have iDrive6 and the digital cluster on mine, I see you have iDrive5.

They’re a fantastic car, but as you’ve mentioned for an SUV the suspension is quite firm!
It is firm - but it gives it that car like sports feel. Not the comfiest SUV on the market, but definitely the best handling and sporty.

Do Panoramic roofs have any issues? cars Im looking at around 8 or 10 years old
Looking to buy 2nd hand around 50k miles but tyres can be expensive. Life expectancy of Turbo?
Tyres are expensive; cheapest front I found was £235 (19inch) turbo on mine lasted 40k miles!!
Thats nuts 165 pounds a year. My 40d is over 300 a year!
Mine too. The 50D I'm looking for is far far less than that.

That’s an amazing result and well done for getting that!! It’s always worth putting the pressure on the manufacturer 👌
How did you manage to get bmw to do the work?! Mine had turbo, ac, timing chain and air suspension issues!! But I’m looking at another one today!!

I have a 35d with the Red interior 300HP
Very similar to my Duster 😉
It's certainly not easy for you when you're sitting in a Duster and you think it's an X5
Damn thats cheap tax... I have 2016 30d and tax in finland is +800€ per year...
I had heard that the road tax is expensive in Finland! Do you think it’s worth paying it to drive the X5? 😃
