Fingers crossed for your new fish, another way of getting Medaka is to buy the eggs online and hatch them yourself - I've got 5 varieties and just got eggs delivered from Japan
Not sure if you've seen the series 'Outlander' but these are some of the names (and their origin/meanings) from it: Murtagh (means “sea-warrior” and “mariner.”) Dougal (Scottish. Meaning: Dark stranger; Black) Fraser (of Scottish and Norman origin meaning “of the forest men.”) Taran (a gender-neutral name of Gaelic origin, meaning “thunder.”) Jamie (Unisex name of Hebrew, Scottish origin meaning "supplanter") Brianna (Celtic, meaning: Strong. She ascends) Marsali (Girl's name meaning "warrior". One of the most distinctive Scottish names for girls)
That is a proper colditz enclosure for your fish. I do the same to keep squirrels off my vege plants. The lengths we go to!! 😁 As for a name how about Rod, after the singer, not a fishing rod.
Awwww, I love you have fish again. I have a koi pond, I so enjoy sitting out there with my morning coffee, ever once in awhile one will jump. I searched famous Scottish warriors, they mostly have everyday names, figured I'll leave it up to people in Scotland to offer up some names. Hope you're weekend has been lovely.
as old builders would say ; 'very crisp piece of work , that' on cage ! Congrats ! Clematis behind absolutely amazing !! Grand Scottish name per nomination : Hamish !!! like character from mystery book & tv series !
From a scottish lassie here's some names for your wee fish😘 Hamish, Jocky, Campbell, brodie, shugie, hughie, Clyde, Flora, Morag, flossie, jessie, eilidh, mairi, isla. Or some highland island names like skye, Lewis, Harris, Iona, 😊 Good luck😊
I live in Scotland ang named my son Cameron because I wanted a nice Scottish name to go with his Scottish surname. Eilidh is a nice girls name too. A few other selections are Rory, Angus, Lachlan, Ailsa, Catriona (close one to your name)
I enjoyed that we were able to share in the entire experience, including your visits to the garden and hardware centers, building the protective cage, and your trip to the allotment.
Hi Katrina, the pond looks fabulous, you have done an amazing job with the cage, besides keeping predators out it will really help keep it clean as well, a good Scottish name is Fergus xx
@@homegrowngarden It's Shay-mass, Katrina. Note Irish spelling is different - Seamus, but same pronunciation. And to be really academic, Hamish (Sheumais) is the vocative version of Seumas. I learn about plants and fish while you learn Gaelic! 😊
Hi Katrina! A new hobby?? Fishing?? A nice vlog about Building a Cage for the Pond! Hopely to be continue..........! Loves greetings from Pieter Smit from the Netherlands!😀🐟🦭🐬👍 By the way alas I have no names for you Pond! Sorry!
So pleased to see some Medaka fish back in your mini pond. The cage will definitely keep the predators out. Hopefully you will get lots of baby fry soon. 😊🐠
I can’t wait to add fish to my new pond. I posted videos of the whole process if anyone’s interested even though we are far away I believe the pond process is the same?
Good luck with your little shoal of Medaka. I still have15 of my original two dozen and hopefully this winter will not be as cold and I won’t lose any. I notice that you haven’t put your carnivorous plants back in; any reason?
Hiya Katrina truly enjoyed a visit with you today, yay for new wee fish friends. I can’t remember the last names at the moment soo my thoughts this time are, Nessie, Neeps, Hamish, Innes , Scot, Haggis. Take care Luv Southern Ontario Canada ps. I was born in Fife Scotland 🇨🇦🐝🏴
Hi a lovely pond. I have something similar. Do you have a filter . Can’t imagine you do I don’t in mine and it has been going for years but it’s not in full sun and has a good supply of oxygenating plant. I also watch to see if fish are coming up for air and then put in rain water to top up. Also most important don’t over stock. Hope you don’t mind my advice love the video all the best Robert
You've made me think about adding a container pond! I've got three standard ponds already 😅 Name suggestion - Kenna, born of fire. I thought for one of the orange ones, maybe the one who came up first, he's a brave little guy! Happy gardening 🌱🌱
Lovely video. The pond looks fantastic. Here are a few Scottish name suggestions for your lovely little fish - Harris, Lewis, Struan, Heather, Skye, Isla
For names, an obvious would be Fishy McFishface, then Tartan Marmalade for the other orange one, Meg (short for Megaladon), Moira (Scottishy) and Nessie 😃 Good luck, it will be fun to watch them grow.
I looked up some Scottish names, these took my fancy . Douglas (Dougie ) means from the dark water. Beth means lively , Ervin means Beautiful. Kade = From the wetlands. Maisie =child of light Vanora = white wave
Did you just call that water plant Judith? haha Nice to see you got some more fish. ALEXANDER ARCHIE CLYDE CALAN and ARRAN for Scottish fishy names lol I was gonna say Ailsa aswell but one of my Queen Bees is called Ailsa and she is 4 years old They will grow big on the mozy larva Best of Luck with the little fish
It is amusing how we can become attached to an animal no matter how small, the size of a horse fly and yet we endow it with character and give it a name and hope it feels good in it's new environment. I was wondering if you were going to eat the fish, like an aquaponics garden with talapia and bass and.... upon seeing them I guess not.
Ah lovely ol job.....that pond is looking super now 👍..I'm just filling my new pond with all of the recent rain so can't wait to start getting some plants in to start it's journey. How is your solar air pump doing ? 🤔
It’s still going strong! On overcast days it doesn’t bubble much though and if it’s in the sun it is at full strength as it was last year. I’ve positioned mine so it doesn’t get too much power as the Medaka prefer still water. I’ve cornered it in with a plant and the wooden log so it doesn’t disturb them too much. In fact, I think they enjoy the swim over the log, around the back and under the plant like it’s some sort of river rapid ride 😆
..K: how about one of these ancient Gaelic boys names: Finlay/Fingal/Finn - all mean 'fair' in colour, which some of your fish are.....and they certainly all have fins!
HELLO!!! With a woman like YOU, any weather is a blessing!!!
حظ موفق ❤
😻... looks like it needs a nice little fountain ;)
Fingers crossed for your new fish, another way of getting Medaka is to buy the eggs online and hatch them yourself - I've got 5 varieties and just got eggs delivered from Japan
